Hubris and Hyperbole Fare For the Gullible

Some might point to his ability to be firm and to stand on principle and some would believe that he believes what he is saying. Others would defend his physical and verbal swagger and express some admiration for his intestinal fortitude.Nevertheless, on analysis it is difficult to have a modicum of admiration for a man that is dead wrong but not even slightly in doubt.President Bush and his minions are all over C-Span touting the party line and discussing the fate of the world.Even though some 70% of Americans are displeased with his policies, in the land of the free where the government is supposed to be of the people, for the people, and by the people, our President, with a cocky smirk on his face, continues to do what most of the world and the majority of his constituency consider ill-advised.

Wu Yi, a Chinese Vice-Premier know as the Iron Lady, has been traveling across America negotiated new trade agreements and Chinese President Hu Jintao is visiting here in America from April 18th to April 22nd...Yesterday, in a familiar rendition, President Bush spoke about our relationship with China. He allowed as how we should not isolate ourselves from the Chinese but should compete with them - fairly, he said. It was a repeat of the same deceptive rhetoric that accompanied the rape of our markets by the Japanese several decades ago. When the American government begins controlled trade agreements with nations whose workers are paid less than ours, regardless of what the globalists tell us, we are allowing the lower wage nation to siphon off wealth from the American people that will never return. Decades after our agreements with Japan we are still running massive trade deficits and in the interim the Japanese have used our wealth to purchase our factories and our real estate as well as large quantities of our taxpayer supported debt in the form of government bonds. We are now going through the same lopsided trade negotiations with the Chinese.

The same complaints formerly directed at the Japanese are now being direct at China. They are not opening their markets to enough American goods; this is the complaint. What need do the Chinese have for American goods? They are presently supplying most of our manufactured items at a fraction of our costs and with our industry closing down and leaving the country what do they need from us? They will import our grains which are subsidized by our taxpayers, they will import our steel if our steel companies are willing to sell to them, they use our cotton and our cloth to make textiles which are then sent back to us, and they will import some sugar, cooking oil, beef, and poultry products. Commodities of one sort or another make up most of our exports. World leaders produce wealth, export the products and enjoy the fruit of their labor, third world nation export commodities!President Bush eschews isolationism and recommends that we compete with China and that we continue to be an innovative nation with new and better ways of doing things. He sited education as essential for us to be competitive and he touted his educational initiative, No Child Left Behind.

Claiming higher statistics from current test scores he pronounced these programs successful and claimed testing was the proper way to determine progress. All this, of course, is rubbish; rubbish backed by the applause of a like minded audience and put out in pictorial form without rebuttal. Propaganda! Our educational system is in shambles. No Child Left Behind with its FCAT tests has transformed our schools from institutions that are supposed to teach reading, writing, and arithmetic into schools that teach students to take and pass FCAT tests providing a poor and very narrow education. No Child Left Behind is a perfect description of the Socialist ethic; it reeks of uniformity and is detached from reality. Sadly, it is typical of the Bush family agenda - they are globalist Liberals to the core. Both the Chinese and the Indians are graduating more and better educated engineers than we are in America. India's Institute of Technology is probably the best high tech school in the world. In Asia tests are used to cull out the less gifted students allowing educational resources to be applied to those that can best respond and freeing the less gifted to find other appropriate vocations.

For an American president to claim that American citizens should compete with 25 cent an hour wages and with smarter, better educated engineers and technicians is either the height of stupidity or the pinnacle of mendacity - maybe both!Even when the standard of living across our erstwhile great land falls to third world levels we will have neither the incentive nor the ability to compete with superior forces from Asia. When President Bush II presents his beady eyes and hawkish features before the camera for the benefit of his subjects he knows full well that he and his family have been involved in creating the global marketplace in which he now demands American citizens compete and that in doing so they have with treasonous intent planned the destruction of America.

What is even more astounding is that many Americans still support him, in spite of the war in Iraq and the lies that accompanied it, the loss of our sovereignty through the immigration invasion and deleterious international treaties, the illegal theft of guarantees of freedom through the unnecessary Patriot Act, the questionable perpetration of 9/11, and now to add insult to injury he wants us to compete with the hordes in China, India, and Japan. With a president like Bush (or Clinton or any other Republican or Democrat) who needs enemies?
