The Roman Catholic Church and Islam

The Roman Catholic Church and Islam have much in common:

1. Both the Roman Catholic Church and Islam believe that they are the one true church/religion.

2. The Roman Catholic Church and the Islam require mandatory fasting.

3. The Roman Catholic Church worships, prays to and gives titles of God to Mary. Islam highly esteems Mary and she is mentioned 34 times in the Qu'ran.

"Even the infidel Muhammed glorifies Mary in his Koran, saying, 'The angels shall say to Maryam, "Allah has chosen thee; he has made thee exempt from all stain'". The Marian (Roman Catholic) Bible

4. The Roman Catholic Church and Islam base their salvation on a complicated system of works and deny salvation by faith alone. There is no assurance of salvation in either religion.

5. Both cults deny the Biblical view of the Atonement. The Roman Catholic Church doctrine dictates that one must go to Purgatory to have his sins purged, Jesus just paved the way. The Muslims believe their works will save them but will not know until Judgment Day. This is because there is no atonement for sin, and God's grace does not exist.

6. The Roman Catholic Church claims visions and apparitions in an effort to add false doctrine. Muhammad claimed to be purified as a child by angels. He claimed to receive revelations from Archangel Jibril or Gabriel.

7. The Roman Catholic Church uses a rosary for their prayers, Islam uses prayer beads. The rosary/prayer beads are concepts taken from paganism.

8. The Pope is the vicar or substitute of Christ for the Roman Catholic Church. (# 882 RCC Catechism) In Islam, Muhammad is called the last and final Messenger of God, the successor to Jesus.

9. The Roman Catholic Church and Islam have their own divorce system. The Roman Catholic Church grants anullments and Islam allows a man to divorce his wife by telling her she is divorced.

10. Islam rejects the Trinity doctrine, the Deity of Christ, salvation by grace through faith and teaches that Christians should be killed. However, the Roman Catholic Church accepts them and believes that they are offered salvation because of their faith in Abraham. (# 841 RCC Catechism)

11. Both church organizations believe that leaving their church will result in eternal damnation.

12. The Roman Catholic Church and Islam share a hatred for the Jews.

13. The Roman Catholic Church and the Islam base some of their doctrine on pagan traditions. For The Roman Catholic Church the traditions of a goddess, rosary, pope, relics, purgatory, transubstantiation, praying to dead people, and idol worship are all based on paganism. The Allah of Islam was actually a pagan god, and not even the major deity.

14. The Roman Catholic Church and Islam have added books to support false doctrine. The Roman Catholic Church has added the Apocrypha and Islam the Qu'ran.

15. The Roman Catholic Church priest system (including Popes) has a history of sexual abuse of women and children. Islam has a history of (including Muhammad) sexual abuse of women and children.

Hello. I happened upon this post and noticed some erroneous material. I'd like to politely let you know that not all of that is true. I should know. I AM a Catholic. I mean this in a nice way, just wanna clear things up.

    4) The Catholic church does not believe you have salvation based on works. We believe you are saved by the death of Christ on the Cross and that no good works get you any closer or farther to Heaven. We do say to do good works often, but that's not the same as saying that to do them is the only way to salvation, which is not the case.

    5) The Catholic Church (which please is not a cult, nor are the Muslims, although I disagree with their beliefs as well as you do) does not really preach purgatory anymore. I personally don't believe in it, and I've only heard it come up in one sermon in a very old Catholic Church a long time ago, I think in South Carolina, but it's not a huge tenet of the faith to my knowledge anymore. Also, by all means God's Grace DOES exist, and there IS atonement for sins! Absolutely! The Catholic Church DOES believe in both Atonement for sins and the Grace of God. I can assure you of this.

    7) The Rosary - which I never really bothered with myself and is really not a huge thing anymore I think - is only really used for that one prayer, not prayers plural. I don't hold anything special when I pray to God.

    10) I do not believe that Muslims are saved. You're either Christian (not necessarily CATHOLIC, but CHRISTIAN. Any good denomination will do, or none if the Church is Bible-based) or you're not saved. You either believe that Jesus is the Christ, the one and only Son of God, or you don't. Abraham can't get you into heaven.

    11) This is not true of the Catholic Church. Or at least of Catholics. My grandma, perhaps, but I have gone to Methodist masses, ect. and I don't feel as if I'm going to Hell for it, nor do I feel any salvation-related compulsion to be Catholic. Catholicism is a denomination of Christianity, but it's being CHRISTIAN that counts. Denomination's not what saves you or condemns you. I believe that most Catholics would agree with me on that point.

    12) Absolutely not. I am stubbornly Pro-Israel. (Which is one of many reasons the election results bother me...but that's another matter) Israel is in our prayers in church every single week, that there can be peace in the Middle East and an END to the conflicts and the deaths of all involved. NEVER prayed that Israel would be destroyed nor will I ever hold that opinion at all. Pro-Israel all the way.

    13) Well there's a few things here. Take them in turn. First, I'm not sure where you have gotten the goddess thing from, but please let me assure you we don't believe in any other divinities but Jehovah. There's no goddess in the Catholic tradition. At all. The rosary and relics are more older catholics I think today, at any rate. I've never prayed, nor known anyone else to pray to dead people. Perhaps pray FOR them, that the Lord will give them peace perhaps, but never TO them. I've not heard of that happening, either. There is absolutely no idolatry in Catholic belief anywhere. I can assure you that no Catholic believes that any statue is divine or alive in any way. Perhaps we may (though I'm not one to myself) pray with a statue of Jesus before us, or facing the Crucifix for example, but it doesn't mean that we believe that object has life. The Bible clearly states idols are man-made and are just statues with no life. That's the Catholic view, too. No idolatry, which would necessitate us actually believing the object itself is imbued with a spirit. Not so.

    14) There may be some contention on if some books belong in the Bible or not, but that does not mean it's false doctrine. There's really nothing in these books that are radical or anti-Christian. I've read them. Tobit, for example, I find rather interesting. Nice story, I think. But I did not notice anything in there that would make me think it was placed to support false doctrine. That's simply not the case. And I do read a protestant Bible and a Catholic one as well, they're remarkably similar. The CIV one just smaller and easier to carry around than the big ol' Catholic one. ...It's like a dictionary.

    14) I will not attempt to justify or deny what Popes and priests have done in the past, but that, I believe is their personal choice and does not mean the whole faith is rotten. There are plenty of good priests and there have been plenty of good Popes. I do think that the sexual abuses (which is not something that has ONLY ever happened in Catholic churches, by the way) could have been handled better, however. I think, historically speaking, indulgences were a real bad move, as well. But well...there you go.

I am sorry this ended up to be so long and I didn't answer all of them because I can't say from PERSONAL experience on each one, but I'm very sure that most of those are a tad inaccurate. I can see in some instances where these wrong conclusions may have come from, and it's an honest mistake, but they should be politely mentioned (er, by me I suppose) just so the record is set straight in as nice a way as possible. Thanks for (er, hopefully..I know it's kinda long) reading my comment and please take it into consideration. If I thought that any of that was really seriously going on, I'd not still be Catholic right now, not a chance. Thanks again, and God bless you.

  8. Hi, it is clear that you are taking a huge chance publishing blasphemous statements. Firstly the research or information which you have obtained is about 70% false. Your tone in writing is very biased, and you have no idea about Islam at all. Islam is the religion of God. Muslims also believe in the true original Gospel and the true scriptures of the Torah which the original versions have been lost and not the current altered versions. Islam is a religion of Peace and Justice. We as muslim are thought not to hate anybody.
The altered versions of the Bible & Torah have been altered and adjusted by man to suit himself, this is called corruption of Gods word. The Quran has been written by God and no man has, can or ever will try to alter the Quran. God himself has promised this. So you can carry on saying this and that about Muslims & Islam. All your efforts are futile and will end in nought. My point is that I can see that you are Pro-West and the media seems to have brainwashed you into believing Islam is evil. I can see that you don't have a Free-thinking mind. Please do your homework and research properly before making yourself a fool especially on the internet. I am sorry but you have been misled.

  9. Next time you make these false statements on Islam. Please I would like you to verify by backing them up with proof. Don't lie to people. It is wrong!
    What do you believe in?
    Probably Satan I guess!
