CIA’s Hayden Proffers Nonsense on “Networked” al-Qaeda

According to CIA Director Michael Hayden, the U.S. is making “a big and continual push” to capture or kill Osama bin Laden. But this will not end “end the organization’s menace,” as the Associated Press puts it, because there is no shortage of jihadist miscreants jockeying to become the Big Poobah of al-Qaeda. “A number of Egyptians are now part of al-Qaida’s top echelon and may struggle for power among themselves. Bin Laden’s current No. 2, Ayman al-Zawahiri, is an Egyptian,” writes script reader Pamela Hess.
Egyptians of Ayman’s ilk are natural. Because the Muslim Brotherhood is big in Egypt and the Brotherhood was created, infiltrated, and promoted by British intelligence and later the CIA. The Americans and Brits loved the Brotherhood because it opposed secular and nationalistic Arabs, in particular the dangerous Gamal Abd-al Nasser. “Officially the Brotherhood was an outlawed organization, but it remained influential and active within Egypt working against the secular regime, often hand-in-hand with British Intelligence,” writes Peter Goodgame. “According to CIA agent Miles Copeland, the Americans began looking for a Muslim Billy Graham around 1955… When finding or creating a Muslim Billy Graham proved elusive, the CIA began to cooperate with the Muslim Brotherhood,” adds Palestinian journalist and writer Said Aburish.
It looks like the CIA is ready to promote another rabid Sunni Arab into al-Qaeda’s leadership position, mostly because adherents to the Salafi/Wahhabi brand of Sunni Islam and the teachings of Sayyid Qutb are particularly susceptible to the idiotic ideology of al-Qaeda. British intelligence and subsequently the CIA found the Wahhabist brand of radical Islam particularly useful because it teaches Muslims to hate and violently oppose infidels, including Shia and other non-Wahhabi Muslims, and is stridently opposed to the idea of democracy and self-determination.

Of course, Osama bin Laden will never be captured alive, although the CIA may offer up his corpse — or something resembling his corpse. Osama’s death was reported by the Egyptian newspaper, al-Wafd, on December 26, 2001 (vol. 15, no. 4633). A Taliban official told the newspaper “that it is unlikely that the American forces would ever uncover any traces of bin Laden” because “according to the Wahhabi tradition no mark is left by the grave.”
