Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Rahm Emanuel, the pro-abortion Illinois congressman Barack Obama chose to become his White House chief of staff after capturing the presidential election, is facing pressure to resign.
Emanuel is alleged to have discussed the names of possible replacement candidates for Obama's Senate seat in the Illinois pay-to-play scandal.
The scandal could potentially threaten other high-ranking Obama officials and possibly the president-elect himself.
It involves pro-abortion Democratic Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich reportedly asking for large donations or guarantees of jobs or board positions in return for naming a certain person to replace Obama in one of his state's two U.S. Senate seats.
The Our Country Deserves Better PAC, a conservative group that spent millions running ads against Obama during the presidential campaign, is behind the call for Emanuel to resign before his first day on the job.
"It's time for Barack Obama's Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, to resign," the group tells LifeNews.com in an email. "The Obama administration has told lie after lie about their involvement in the corruption scandal."
The group points to the fact that, days after the November elections, "Obama's campaign manager, David Axelrod, admitted that Obama and Blagojevich had discussions about who Blagojevich should appoint to replace him."
The noted how the Obama camp backed off the admission when the news of the scandal and a federal prosecutor's investigation of it became public.

"But as soon as the announcement came that federal prosecutors had been investigating Blagojevich over allegations of corruption in selling the U.S. Senate seat to the highest bidder, Obama's camp suddenly claimed that Axelrod had gotten his facts wrong about whether Obama and Blagojevich had schemed about who should be selected," the group says.
When it comes to Emanuel, Our Country Deserves Better says "Emanuel specifically denied he engaged in negotiations with Governor Blagojevich about Obama's Senate seat."
"But again, Obama's camp was caught lying about their involvement, because wiretaps reveal, and have forced Obama to now admit, that his chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel has discussed not just once but on several occasions who should get the Senate," the group adds.
The conservative group says Emanuel told Blagojevich he should pick Obama's first choice, Valerie Jarrett, but then later gave Blagojevich a list of names of individuals who would be acceptable for Blagojevich to pick.
The group told LifeNews.com that Emanuel's involvement in hand-picking Obama's successor came before Obama won the election.
"In fact, Emanuel began negotiating with Blagojevich about Obama's successor in the U.S. Senate during the weekend before the 2008 election had even taken place.," the group said. "The seat was not even yet open, Obama had not yet even won, and Emanuel and Blagojevich were already engaged in a powerplay to determine who would be given this Senate seat, and what might be paid or given for getting it."

The group concludes: "It's time for Rahm Emanuel to resign - immediately. He is a disgrace and has no business serving as Chief of Staff in the White House."
The conservative political action committee has begun a petition campaign for those who want to sign a petition asking for Emanuel to resign his potential position or Obama to ask him to do so.U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald interviewed Obama on December 19 along with Jarrett and Emanuel was interviewed the next day.
