London, England (LifeNews.com) -- The British abortion business Marie Stopes International says it will review its policies after a 15-year-old girl died from a fatal legal abortion two years ago. Aleesha Thomas left the MSI clinic in Leeds, England in July 2007 after having an abortion and she died five days later.

The teenager died from a heart attack due to the infection toxic shock syndrome and the coroner who did her autopsy says a simple antibiotic would have saved her.
However, MSI officials let Thomas leave the abortion center without making sure she had the drug.
The coroner, Roger Whittaker, told the BBC today that he thinks MSI needs to review its policies to make sure another woman doesn't die from an abortion because it fails to provide proper post-abortion care.

The BBC indicated a medical inquest heard testimony saying that MSI allowed Thomas to leave its facility without making sure she had the proper drugs. The abortion practitioner had written a prescription for the medicine but MSI staff never gave the prescription to the girl.
Thomas eventually reported stomach cramps and bleeding and died on the way to the hospital on July 11.
Whittaker told the BBC that he would write a letter to MSI urging it to change its policies and complained that the abortion practitioner left the facility before Thomas had her post-abortion care completed.
Marie Stopes International released a statement saying its staff "were deeply saddened to learn of Alesha's tragic death."
"We wish to extend our sympathies to Alesha's family and recognize that this has inevitably been a difficult and distressing process for them, and for all involved," MSI said.
"Our first concern is always the support and care of our clients and we aim to ensure that they receive the highest possible standards of advice, treatment and aftercare," it claimed. "We will look closely at the coroner's comments and take further steps, as appropriate, to address any areas of concern that have been identified."

During the hearing, abortion practitioner Peter Paku admitted that MSI had no policies in place to make sure women received prescribed medication after an abortion.
This isn't the first time Marie Stopes International has put women's health at risk.
MSI had been misusing a cancer drug in Australia to do abortions before the nation approved the dangerous RU 486 mifepristone abortion drug.
