Neocons Criticize DHS Relationship with Intelligence Asset Muslim Brotherhood

Richard Pollock, leading the charge at Campus Watch — an organization founded by the neocon and Islamophobe Daniel Pipes — notes a meeting held last month between Homeland Security Secretary’s Janet Napolitano and “a select group of Muslim, Arab, and Sikh organizations,” including the Muslim Brotherhood.
The Muslim Brotherhood was groomed early on by British intelligence and the CIA. .
According to Pollock, Napolitano spent an hour and a half briefing them on DHS counter-radicalization and anti-terrorist programs.
“Although there is no evidence of an exchange of classified information, this meeting was the beginning of an Obama administration program aimed at devising a new information-sharing framework with the Muslim organizations — some of them regarded as extremist because of their ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. The group is to meet regularly with DHS senior aides and with Napolitano. This program was imported from the United Kingdom. The Obama administration has decided to replicate the UK program to win over Muslims and to get them to collaborate with the federal government,” writes Pollock.
Walid Phares — a “terrorism” expert who is connected to the neocon Foundation for the Defense of Democracies and National Endowment for Democracy (an NGO that acts as a fill-in for the CIA) — chimed in with criticism of the confab:

“Through the so-called ‘partnership’ between the Jihadi-sympathizer networks and U.S. bureaucracies, the U.S. government is invaded by militant groups.” He warned that this policy embraced by the Obama administration “is how American national security policy has been influenced” by Muslim groups, who are duping administration officials.
In fact, the duping is the exact opposite — the Muslim Brotherhood is the dupe, not the DHS and the U.S. government. Martin A.Lee, writing for Razor Magazine in 2004, explains:
For many years, the American espionage establishment had operated on the assumption that Islam was inherently anti-communist and there fore could be harnessed to facilitate US objectives. American officials viewed the Muslim Brotherhood as “a secret weapon” in the shadow war against the Soviet Union and it’s Arab allies, according to Robert Baer, a retired CIA case officer who was right in the thick of things in the Middle East and Central Asia during his 21 year career as a spy. In Sleeping with the Devil, a book he wrote after quitting the CIA Baer explains how the United States “made common cause with the Brothers” and used them “to do our dirty work in Yemen, Afghanistan and plenty of other places”. This covert relationship; unraveled when the Cold War ended, whereupon an Islamic Frankenstein named Osama bin Laden lurched into existence.

Said K. Aburish, in his book A Brutal Friendship: The West and the Arab Elite, documents how the Muslim Brotherhood was groomed in the supposed anti-communist project.
“According to CIA agent Miles Copeland, the Americans began looking for a Muslim Billy Graham around 1955,” writes Aburish. “When finding or creating a Muslim Billy Graham proved elusive, the CIA began to cooperate with the Muslim Brotherhood, the Muslim mass organization founded in Egypt but with followers throughout the Arab Middle East… This signaled the beginning of an alliance between the traditional regimes and mass Islamic movements against Nasser and other secular forces.”
The CIA, however, was merely exploiting an asset previously established by British intelligence. “The CIA was following the example of British Intelligence and sought to use Islam to further its goals. They wanted to find a charismatic religious leader that they could promote and control and they began to cooperate with groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood. With the rise of Nasser [in Egypt] the Brotherhood was also courted more seriously by the pro-Western Arab regimes of Saudi Arabia and Jordan. They needed all the popular support that they could muster against the rise of Nasser-inspired Arab nationalism to keep their regimes intact,” writes Peter Goodgame (The Globalists and the Islamists: Fomenting the “Clash of Civilizations” for a New World Order).
“The Muslim Brotherhood is the ideological foundation for today’s terrorist organizations in the Islamic world. Founded in 1928, it is the oldest Islamic fundamentalist political group in modern times,” writes Pollock. “Originally called the Society of the Muslim Brothers, today it is a hardcore supporter of Hamas and Hezbollah and considered the inspirational ‘father’ of al-Qaeda itself.”

It is a well-established fact Hamas was nurtured by the Israelis for the same reason the Muslim Brotherhood was — as a bulwark against Arab nationalism, the real enemy of the United States and Britain. This relationship was documented by Richard Sales of United Press International in 2002 (Sales’ article no longer exists on the UPI website).
In addition, al-Qaeda was created through a collaboration between the CIA and Pakistani intelligence with lavish support provided by Saudi Arabia, a fact exhaustively documented. (Also see Andrew C. McCarthy’s The CIA and al-Qaeda, Phil Gasper’s Afghanistan, the CIA, bin Laden, and the Taliban and Norm Dixon’s How the CIA created Osama bin Laden.)
Mr. Pollock mentions none of this, of course, because he works for the neocon intelligentsia and his task is to keep alive fear and loathing of Muslims and the cynical pretext for invading Muslim nations.
