He said it and knows well that too many Whites believe the myth. Whites, Blacks and Hispanics all suffer in this current economic climate. Someone from all the races have problems financially. There are Blacks and Hispanics who do not have to receive foodstamps or social services checks. There are Whites who do need social service and foodstamp help. Gingrich statement that Pres Obama has put more people on foodstamps is a distortion. Rather than allow people who can not find jobs starve the foodstamp and unemploymen programs had to be expanded. So based on Gingrich statement Obama should allow people to starve and hope that they can find a job.

I wonder if Newt ever goes to a Wall Street convention and speaks about greed- not that he would ever think they could be greedy of course. Who does he think he's kidding. Should we believe our lying ears or his explaination?

So in Gingrich's mind, the 43% unemployed African American teenagers are unemployed because they will rather choose to be on welfare than earn a paycheck?

The NAACP doesn't need Gingrich to talk to them about food stamps versus paychecks. All people wouldn't prefer a decent paycheck instead of food stamps. Why doesn't Gingrich talk about the programs that he would implement so more Americans would have jobs? If he is so irritated by people calling him out on his r/acist talk then he should stop making statements like that. And when will these old guys realize that everything they say is on record for people to review. They can't just say they didn't say something when there is a recording of them saying it.

Pay attention people for here are the facts on Food-Stamps Recipients :

Among those receiving food-stamps, here IS the break-down, 28% of RECIPIENTS ( NOT to be confused with the ENTIRE black popullation) are black and the remaining 72 % are....
( YOU GOT IT !!!! ).

We are a people unwilling to research anything,and would rather settle for believing something - if we hear it said often enough, we think it's true.

The media doesn't help much cuz, everytime they talk about welfare or food-stamps, they WILL show the faces of America's black children, but if YOU have a brain LARGER than the size of a pea, pause long enough ans ask yourselves, what is the nation's popullation make up and how does it break-down ???

HINT" Blacks and Latinos are called MINORITIES for a reason - they ARE fewer in numbers so what makes you think they're the GREATER recipients to freebies??.

Only place where this holds true is in America's prisons, for the Prison Industry IS big business in America - at the EXPENSE of blacks and Latinos.

Believe me when I tell you, schools in their districts are BAD by design and for a reason....

What a preposterous, wrongheaded rant. I would like for you to explain how the democrats "have created a government class." Is it not the wealthy and the corporations - mostly supportive of and supported by the GOP - that have created and worked diligently to maintain, such a class, by overpaying the bigwigs, underpaying the workers, outsourcing jobs, and creating tax breaks and incentives that work to further enrich the rich while keeping not just the poor, but the middle class down? I just shudder when I read such igorance as what's in your comment. I mean, it makes me almost physically ill

They don't really care about jobs. They care about the corporations. If they truly cared about jobs, they would not have voted down the outsourcing bill that took away the outsourcing tax-incentive loopholes. Let's be real. There are people on foodstamps that do get paychecks, but the minimum wages are just not enough. If you want the working poor to get off foodstamps, minimum wages need to go up. That is something the Right will never agree to. Wages went down, not up. CEOs get millions in bonuses by decreasing the payroll. It's usually the first to go with budgets. Hiring freezes, layoffs, outsourcing -- walah! Huge bonus for one, huge problems for thousands!

America needs to value workers again.

Newtie and Friends kept the minimum wage at $5.25 hr from 1994 until the Dems vated to boost it in 2007(against gop fight) Even now, it it LOWER in real dollars than the 1960s...with costs so much higher. I was explaining to a student, this is why there is no way to entirely work one's way thru college like I did. Stomping on the lower income workers

Has the Newtron bomb lost his mind? Food stamps have been around since the Food Stamp Act of 1964. There have been subsequent bills, and funding has ebbed and flowed, but basically it's been venerable part of the fabric of American life. Participation in the current program has only to do with need. It should be noted that (under Obama) since the post recession low of February 2010 2.6 million jobs have been created, beating Reagan's 2.4 million at a similar point in Reagan's administration (when unemployment was 9.2%). For the record (per the DOA):

49% of all participants are children;
15% of all participants are elderly;
20% of all participants are non-elderly disabled people.

If the size of SNAP's participation has grown you can thank the BUSH recession for that. So 84% of those on food stamps cannot work and cannot therefore collect a paycheck. Why then is Newt wanting to talk to the NAACP about paychecks vs. food stamps. There are only two possibilities. Either he is so incredibly stupid that he does not know the real demographics of SNAP. Or, he is giving voice to that unique brand of dog whistle racism that runs like a river through Republican politics. And when Newt calls Obama the food stamp president, that's just more of the same old same: dog whistle wink wink pandering to the worst in us. For of the 16% in SNAP who are not children, disabled or elderly, about 4% are black.

This is the same tactic Reagan used with his "welfare queen" remarks. Its a diversion to get us to look away while the 1% steal the rest of the money in the country. Welfare and entitlements are problems but they are on the scale of, maybe, billions of dollars while the 1% and Wall Street are stealing trillions of dollars.

Newt's always irritated plus what he said is racist and untrue. The fact is there are more whites on food stamps than African Americans and he fails to point to one specific policy of obama's that would make him a "food stamp' President. It's always good to have a Presidential candidate get irritated when people question his bogus statements...he's applying for a job to work for the American people and we have a right to question anything he says.
