during the New Deal, that directed wealth to white families and continue to

The landmark Social Security Act of 1935 provided a safety net for millions of
workers, guaranteeing them an income after retirement. But the act specifically

predominately African American, Mexican, and Asian. As low-income workers, they

tying mortgage eligibility to race. Integrated communities were ipso facto
deemed a financial risk and made ineligible for home loans, a policy known
today as “redlining.” Between 1934 and 1962, the federal government backed $120
billion of home loans. More than 98% went to whites. Of the 350,000 new homes
built with federal support in northern California between 1946 and 1960, fewer
than 100 went to African Americans.
These government programs made possible the new segregated white suburbs that

municipal services helped develop and enhance these suburbs further, in turn
fueling commercial investments. Freeways tied the new suburbs to central

That argument has provided a smoke screen behind which an individual with a history of thuggery and an inflated expression of authority is hiding. He owns a gun. He will be defended by those who are obsessively focused on having guns available at all times. I own guns. I do not conclude by that that I have the authority to patrol my neighborhood with them either openly carried or concealed. If someone is crawling through my window we have a very different situation.
Does Zimmerman's action of ignoring the 911 dispatcher's instruction of not following the eventual victim fall under any stalking restrictions. "They always get away." Zimmerman did not want "this one" to get away. Good neighborhood watch programs are best run on phone trees and broad communication of suspicious activity among the residents of a community. This one did not seem to be that organized. When the shooter did not inform others in the community of his concern in real time and instead called 911 again, he stepped outside his authority and responsibility. He became a rouge and a vigilante. The homeowners association will likely be found to have enabled this crime by negligence and failure of due-diligence. There is insurance and it will likely come into this in civil court at a later date.
This incident is a murder by a rouge and a vigilante. It will likely be reduced to something on the order of an aggravated man slaughter with some jail time. The legislators who pushed this through are now tap dancing around and saying something like, "Oh, my Goodness gracious, this is not what we intended to happen with this law." They are complicit in crimes from a distance.
