The Django Controversy

Ephraim ShabazzModerator21 hours ago
Why are we hive an mentality against Spike is Tarantiono "queen of the hive" and must be protected at all cost?
I am shocked we did follow Malcolm advise when he said---don't let the enemy know that you've got a disagreement.
Instead of airing our differences in public, we have to realize we're all the same family. And when you have a family squabble, you don't get out on the sidewalk. If you do, everybody calls you uncouth, unrefined, uncivilized, savage. If you don't make it at home, you settle it at home; you get in the closet, argue it out behind closed doors, and then when you come out on the street, you pose a common front, a united front. And this is what we need to do in the community, and in the city, and in the state. We need to stop airing our differences in front of the white man, put the white man out of our meetings, and then sit down and talk shop with each other. That's what we've got to do.

Actually,
we are of the same family; however, we aren’t a monolithic group of people
because we have dissimilar ideas and philosophies dictated by the environment.
But when we’re pushing for the betterment of our people, it’s prudent to move
as a cohesive unit instead of diverging into our separate little groups.

Does the fact that Taratino is white preclude him from doing great work on and a subject such as slavery?
Yes it does, as we know and history proves in more cases than not the history told from a White person eyes is not necessarily the truth or the actual history. Case in point is how can a movie be made about President Lincoln and Slavery without Fredrick Douglas in it. He was the man who changed President Lincoln mind about Slavery. Yet he's not in the movie and the movie is being lauded as the Best Film of all times. I Rest my case.

Great post, and i agree. I went with my daughters 6th grade class to see "LINCOLN". And i was very surprised that they would have a movie about lincoln and the abolishment of slavery and not have anything about Frederick Douglas in the movie. That movie was VERY LONG and the role Douglas played in the abolishment of slavery should have been included in the script.

I agree with you. First Gregory SHOCKED ME by completely stepping out of character, then luke, and now Jamie that made the most money from the movie, after getting paid. These fools would not publicly defend Tyler Perry! They act like QT LOVES THEM.
QT disrespected Alex Haley and his work, Roots, in effect told black people to kiss off. ..Then that sewer rat had the nerve to sell slave dolls....
What is up with all of this Tarantino boody rubbing and c_----suckery from these 3 n e g r o men.

Jamie is doing his masters work. It's a damned shame when a Black man cannot voice his opinion and either have it respected or ignored. What this article didn't say was that Jamie Fox compared the stealing of Black music as nothing well here is his quote
Foxx noted that, for years, Hollywood has celebrated white people who
told black stories or sang black songs. "But you got to look at the
individual cases," said the actor. "When Pat Boone covered Little
Richard, you think, 'Huh?', he's got no affinity for it. Good Golly Miss
Molly? I don't think so
This is ignorance personified. Mr Fox is so uneducated about American History and the treatment of Black artist whose shoulders he stands on that he'll make an ignorant comment as he did. I think Little Richard, Fats Domino and a host of other Black singers who were blatantly robbed by the non-talents like the racist Pat Boone, yet Mr Fox holds those bigots up as something to be proud of. Worse is that he portrayed Ray Charles who faced racism throughout his entire career. The adage "It's best to remain silent and thought a fool, then to open one's mouth and remove all doubt applies here.

"The actor said that people are having an emotional reaction to the film:
They knee-jerked to slavery, they knee-jerked towards the
n-word. But I come from the south and that’s where the word grew. And I
think that gave me an upper hand on the material. I know people like
Stephen. I know people like Calvin Candie. I played cheese-and-wine
parties for men who called us ***. But my grandmother worked as a
housemaid all her life and she taught me some truths. I learned those
lessons and I learned them in the south, and I did a pretty good job of
it too."
How f__________d up in the head do you have to be to excuse some s____t like this?
I have said for years that the problem in our communities is not Af Ams with incomes that are too low, it's far too many of these high income folks like this pea-brained, relativist dullard here. What the f______k is wrong with these people?

4 Little Girls, Miracle at Saint Anna's and Get on the Bus are Three excellent documentaries (movies) that speak to and about American Blacks and our history in America that folks like Mr Tarantino would not make . But BLACK people and folks like you would not dare spend one Dime to see what Spike produced,it's easier to be ignorant than to learn Black history especially coming from Spike Lee,that's because most White folks criticize him because he Stands up to them and confront them about their RACISM. Leave it to some Blacks who complain about everything Spike Lee talks about to attack him. Oh you may try googling folks before embarrassing yourself in the future.

Don't forget"When the levees broke".
Spike puts out real stories about our real life situations. Which it seems, many Black folk are not prepared to see.
Yet we're the one's who are always goin on about"keepin it REAL".
