The Summer of 2013 Part 4

The Surveillance State

Even in the 21st century, there has been mass surveillance in America. We know the evolution of such surveillance laws in the 21st century. Recently, the Guardian published a secret court order requiring Verizon to hand over data for all the calls made on its network (ongoing, daily basis). There has been surveillance by the state of phone and digital communications. This is not new since the National Security Agency has done this for a long time. Since 9/11, the NSA and others have utilized surveillance against the American citizenry. This is documented in news stories, documents, official statements, and other information. FISA or the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act was created as a means to regulate how the government can monitor suspects, spies or terrorists in the U.S. It came about after the 1970's Church Committee found abuses of power by the government. The government doesn’t have to demonstrate probable cause of a crime, just that the “purpose of the surveillance is to obtain foreign intelligence information.” All but 11 applications have been accepted by the government since 1978 alone. Ex-President George W. Bush passed the Patriot Act in October of 2001. It allowed the FBI to ask the FISA court to compel the sharing of books, business documents, tax records, library check out lists, etc. as a apart of international terrorism investigations (in Section 215). Back in October 2003, AT&T technician Mark Klein admitted something. He found newly installed NSA data mining equipment in a secret room at a company facility in San Francisco. Klein believed that this equipment was made to create surveillance all across the Internet (even watching email, web surfing, and other data). In March 2004, then Attorney General John Ashcroft was in the hospital. Members of the Bush administration (like Presidential aides Andrew Card and Alberto Gonzales) came to the hospital bed of John Ashcroft to attempt to allow Ashcroft sign off the extension of a secret domestic spying program. Ashcroft refused to it since he believed that the warrantless program to be illegal. It was reported by the NY Times and Newsweek later on. The NSA, Newsweek reported citing anonymous sources, collected without court approval vast quantities of phone and email metadata “with cooperation from some of the country’s largest telecommunications companies” from “tens of millions of average Americans.” The magazine says the program itself began in September 2001 and was shut down in March 2004 after the hospital incident. But Newsweek also raises the possibility that Bush may have found new justification to continue some of the activity. In December of 2005, the warrantless wiretapping has been revealed publicly. Michael Hayden or the director of the NSA admitted to the existence of the warrantless wiretapping program. The Times said that since 2002, the government “monitored the international telephone calls and international e-mail messages of hundreds, perhaps thousands, of people inside the United States without warrants.” The program involves actually listening in on phone calls and reading emails without seeking permission from the FISA Court. President George W. Bush defends the program in Kansas inside of Kansas State University. The Patriot Act was renewed at March of 2006 with new protections for records required to be produced under the controversial section 215. In May of 2006, the USA Today reported that the NSA has been collecting data (of millions of Americans since 2001via Verizon, AT&T, and BellSouth. Their level of involvement has been disputed. Their phone numbers were collected. In January of 2007, then Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said that the Bush administration is targeting international communications with FISA court approval. The PRISM program, which everyone is talking about, began in September of 2007. It was about the FBI and the NSA getting user data from Microsoft. It was ta op secret program. The data collected from the program varies. In July of 2008, the FISA Act and the Protect America Act expands the government spying powers for 4 years. The FISA act gives immunity to telecom companies for their actions in warrantless wiretapping (and then Senator Barack Obama voted for the act). The NSA had over collected personal data in April of 2009. President Barack Obama extended Section 215 or other controversial parts of the Patriot Act in February of 2010. The Patriot Act is renewed again in May 2011. In a letter to the attorney general, Sens. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and Mark Udall, D-Colo., write, “We believe most Americans would be stunned to learn the details” of how the government has interpreted Section 215 of the Patriot Act. Because the program is classified, the senators offer no further details. He wrote those words in March of 2012. Wyden showed a declassified statement that one time when the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court found that one time the government did an information collection action that was unconstitutional. Obama extends FISA Amendments Act for 5 years. The recent Verizon Order came in April of 2013. The FISA court Judge Roger Vinson cited Section 215 of the Patriot Act as a means to try to get metadata records from Verizon. Many in Congress even Senators Diane Feinstein and Saxby Chambliss of Georgia love the act as nothing new. It is nothing new though, but it is something Big Brother like (and other policies which violate human liberties have been worse than the Verizon action).

The news is talking about Edward Swonden all of the time. He is the former NSA whistleblower. He was once the former CIA information technology employee. He revealed classified information to the public. This opened a veil on the military intelligence spying apparatus. The spying system of America operates in secrecy and in many cases violates constitutional rights. He is in Hong Kong right now. The authorities from the States want to retrieve him for felony charges. Members from both Democrats and Republicans have called him a traitor. Some pundits even want to call for his execution, which is dubious and extreme. A global manhunt is being launched against him. He is in the Hong Kong area. He gave an extensive interview with the Guardian newspaper's Glenn Greenwald. “I could be rendered by the CIA. I could have people come after me,” he told Greenwald, adding he hoped that by coming out it would be “harder for them to get dirty.” In his interview with Greenwald, Snowden spoke powerfully and eloquently of the “architecture of oppression” that goes beyond even that which has been revealed in the documents released so far. We know that the establishment abhors true democratic values, which is why they instituted the oppressive Big Brother police state in the first place. Tons of Americans though believe in authentic liberty and want the actions of the NSA to be curtailed and ended. The leaks signify that we have a long way to go in having true freedom among humanity. Snowden's actions are the fruit of a corrupt system. Real changes come by struggle among all liberty loving peoples not just by workers. The plutocracy uses financially regressive actions not only to control the social actions of the people. They use it as a means to maintain their power. Viewing every citizen as a potential enemy or terrorist under certain circumstances is the essence of the Patriot Act and other unjust laws. I don't follow unjust laws at all. The monitoring of every American's personal lives can lead into intimidation and blackmail. As Snowden noted, after the state has gathered, on a permanent basis, data from everyone, “You simply have to eventually fall under suspicion from somebody, even by a wrong call. And then they can use this system to go back in time and scrutinize every decision you’ve ever made, every friend you’ve ever discussed something with.” The government can construct a detailed social and political profile of nearly every individual in the United States. According to the “Boundless Informant” data-mining tool, some 97 billion pieces of intelligence were gathered worldwide from one NSA spying program in March 2013 alone. In addition to the 3 billion pieces of intelligence from within the US, there were 14 billion from Iran, 13.5 billion from Pakistan, 12.7 billion from Jordan, 7.6 billion from Egypt, 6.3 billion from India, and 3 billion from Europe. The oligarchs rule the political establishment (found in the White House, political parties, the courts, the police, etc.). I cannot defend this current spying program. Even Private Bradley Manning is facing life in prison for revealing to the world of the crimes of the U.S. military in Iraq and Afghanistan. The documents from Manning have been published by Julian Assange. These spying programs are carried out in secret precisely because the ruling class knows it lacks a broad base of support. As Snowden noted in his interview, the documents reveal that “the NSA [and other government officials] routinely lie in response to congressional inquiries about the scope of surveillance in America.”  The establishment and the government have been lying about this and other issues for a long time. Mass struggle can only change things. William Binney said that after 9/11, the White House, the NSA, and the CIA decided to take wraps off and begin collecting on U.S. citizens. He also said the following: "...They took the system I built to spy on other countries and they turned it against you...This is something the KGB, the Stazi or the Gestapo would have LOVED to have had. Just because this is a democracy doesn’t mean we will stay that way..." He is right and he said this in 2012. Binney was said to be one of the best code breakers ever. He admits they can turn your cell phone on and listen to you while it sits in your pocket or your purse. He explains that they targeted everyone and everything. Video was released in August of 2012. Binney's real testimony refutes the lies from the administration that the government is not spying on citizens intensively. The war on terrorism is a total, unadulterated scheme as a means to store information on as many human beings as possible among other duties. The actions of the NSA are even in violation of the UN Declaration on Human Rights: "...No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks..."Snowden should be evaluated like anyone else. He said that he dropped out of high school, came into the Special Forces (when you have to master numerous system to be in the Special Forces), the CIA, and the NSA in a short span of time. He told the fantastic clam to Glenn that he could have brought the entire NSA down by tomorrow, which is farfetched to say the least. The massive NSA, comprised of some very smart people who actually did finish high school and some even went to college at places like MIT and Harvard and Yale (this massive, well-funded over funded intelligence Juggernaut) could be brought down by a guy with a GED overnight. It is not feasible at all. Folks are researching his records to see if his story is for real. Others have said that white privilege could influence on how he gain so much access to Big Brother's secrets since let's keep it real here. If a Brother had the exact story of Snowden, he would not have access to that many secrets at all. So, is Snowden a hero? I do not consider him to be a traitor, but his story should be investigated more. He is more like the outcome of the corruption in society. He should not be unjustly harmed. The White House is wrong on this issue. The reason is that we should have more transparency about such spying programs and illegal spying against Americans has continued in our time. When you have unjust spying in the United States by the government, then you will see folks like Snowden come about. You reap what you sow. We should continue to fight for the protection of our civil liberties and constitutional rights. We should oppose evil spying programs and we should not let the oligarchs control every aspect of our society at all.

NSA Spying in the world is even more extension than what Swonden have described. CNET reported that a new classified briefing showed that it does not need court authorization to listen to domestic phone calls. Rep. Jerrold Nadler, a New York Democrat, disclosed this week that during a secret briefing to members of Congress, he was told that the contents of a phone call could be accessed “simply based on an analyst deciding that.” If the NSA wants “to listen to the phone,” an analyst’s decision is sufficient, without any other legal authorization required, Nadler said he learned. “I was rather startled,” said Nadler, an attorney and congressman who serves on the House Judiciary committee. So, Nadler's testimony means that NSA analysts could also access the contents of Internet communications without going before a court and seeking approval. A Wired magazine article and other reports mentioned that the NSA can record nearly all domestic and international phone calls.  They have a new data center in Utah. Two government officials have admitted that as many as 50 American companies are feeding the NSA with real time user data. Big corporations give sensitive information to the NSA. Indeed, former top NSA executives Thomas Drake and William Binney, Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez – a member of the Committee on Homeland Security and the Armed Services Committee’s Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities – and others say that Snowden’s revelations are only “the tip of the iceberg." So, we have more than enough proof of the NSA monitoring phone calls without warrants. William Binney, a former NSA technical director who helped to modernize the agency’s worldwide eavesdropping network, told the Daily Caller this week that the NSA records the phone calls of 500,000 to 1 million people who are on its so-called target list, and perhaps even more. “They look through these phone numbers and they target those and that’s what they record,” Binney said. The NSA spying has been revealed further by an EFF lawsuit. Even before the evil of COINTELPRO, the federal government has monitored dissidents from across the political spectrum. J. Edgar Hoover agreed with and activated COINTELPRO. He spied on American citizens. It lasted from 1956 to 1971. Even Frank Morales documented how the FBI, the military, and police forces have a bad record of quashing citizen dissent. Many Democrat and Republican political elites have agreed with this spying agenda. “I’ve been amazed and disappointed for a long time at how the most slavishly partisan media Democrats who pretended to care so much about these issues when doing so helped undermine George Bush are now the loudest apologists and cheerleaders for these very same policies,” Glenn Greenwald, who broke the NSA story, said on Tuesday. “If they started a club called Liberal Pundits to Defend the National Security State, no auditorium in the country would be large enough to accommodate them.” This is tyranny and it has been going on for a very long time. Many so called liberals criticized George W. Bush heavily for violating human civil liberties and spying without warrants. Now, some of them want to justify some of this similar wicked policies in our time with a Democratic President. The sabotaging of the Bill of Rights with the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798 is well known. So, the intelligence community wants to monitor and undermine the political activity that they perceive as the enemy. Some Patriots have been falsely labeled as terrorists by the federal government. So, we should not be paranoid, but knowledgeable about the situation.

The NSA issue is important to debate and discuss. The Bush and Obama administrations try to justify the mass surveillance programs by saying that it relates to 9/11. Both administrations claim that they could of caught one of the 9/11 hijackers living in San Diego if they could have spied on phone calls on American soil. We know that claim to be completely false. The NSA has sweeping recordings of phone call records. The U.S. claimed that NSA spying could stop Khalid al Mihdhar to not be involved in the 911 attacks. Vice President Dick Cheney made the same argument. The Bush administration utilized the same argument as a means to justify their NSA warrantless wiretapping program. An FBI informant hosted and rented a room to Mihdhar and another 9/11 hijacker in 2000. The Investigators for the Congressional Joint Inquiry found that an FBI informant hosted and even rented a room to two hijackers in 2000. When the Inquiry sought to interview the informant, the FBI refused outright and hid him in an unknown location. A high level FBI official stated that blocking maneuvers were undertaken under orders from the White House.  The informant, Abdussattar Shaikh, who had been the landlord in San Diego of two Sept. 11 hijackers, is important. The NY Times reported that Senator Bob Graham (the former chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee) accused the White House of covering up evidence. The FBI informant could have apprehended the hijackers without a mass surveillance. The NSA did actually intercept Mihdhar's phone calls before 9/11. The NSA tapped top Al-Qaeda operatives' phone calls outside the U.S. They did it inside of America according to NSA expert James Bamford. The NSA recorded all of these phone calls between al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi in San Diego and a high-level Al Qaeda operations base in Yemen. This was done 2 years before 9/11. The CIA knew that al-Mihdhar had visas for Malaysia and the U.S. Even top NSA whistleblower William Binney – a highly-credible 32-year NSA veteran with the title of senior technical director, who headed the agency’s digital data gathering program (featured in a New York Times documentary, and the source for much of what we know about NSA spying) said something. He admitted that the NSA had data on hijackers before 9/11. He also said the following: "...And, Prism did not start until 2007. But they could get the data from the “Upstream” collection. This is the Mark Klein documentation of Narus equipment in the NSA room in San Francisco and probably other places in the lower 48. They did not need Prism to discover that. Prism only supplemented the “Upstream” material starting in 2007 according to the slide..." Before 9/11, there has been widespread spying on Americans. Foreign intelligence communities in Europe and Israel knew of the hijackers' movements before 9/11. So, the NSA and the FBI were each independently listening in on the phone calls between the supposed mastermind of the attacks and the lead hijacker. Indeed, the FBI built its own antenna in Madagascar specifically to listen in on the mastermind’s phone calls. 9/11 was a totally foreseeable event, which is why the Western establishment exploited the attacks as a means to spread imperialism in the world (in the war on terror). Even the token 9/11 Commission report admitted that there were the missed opportunities as it relates to the 9/11 attacks. Mihdhar was on the intelligence community’s radar at least as early as 1999. That’s when the NSA had picked up communications from a “terrorist facility” in the Mideast suggesting that members of an “operational cadre” were planning to travel to Kuala Lumpur in January 2000, according to the commission report. The NSA had the technical ability and power to intercept calls between Mihdhar and Yemen before 9/11 (It did so). So, just because you have massive surveillance in society, doesn't mean that the USA will be completely safe. Mass surveillance can interfere with catching bad guys. The global war on terror continues unabated. We have the Supreme Court making the bad Citizens United decision. That means that the court gives the protections of person-hood for the oligarch’s constructs (corporations) provides them with rights and freedoms no longer granted to us. There is also the evil 80 billion dollar a month bailouts that continue to make a select few of the Wall Street financial entities to not to be held truly accountable of their actions. The only solutions to this problem are check and balances, maintaining our civil liberties, real negotiation, and other revolutionary changes in society.

Conclusion

In our lifetime, laissez faire capitalism has been exposed like no other time in human history. The great recent recession and the circumstances going on make everyone aware of the evils of economic exploitation. The nations of the world have become rich with deception, but in the future, the crimes of the super-rich will be readily known by the entire world. The system of laissez faire capitalism believes in social Darwinism and even the view that you can love the world with all of your heart (and you can do what you want to do). Even the Scriptures are correct on the point that we should not love the things of this world since the wickedness of the world surely is a sole function of the establishment. Now, the modern day merchants include numerous billionaires and the over 1200 wealthiest capitalists that rule over the global marketplace. In America, there are over 400 billionaires, which is the highest number in any nation on Earth. Now, we realize that modern society loves money and uses capitalism like a religion as a means to gain control over the inhabitants of the world. The lust for money relates directly to the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. These words outline the composition of post-modern Western society completely. The global elite love their gold, silver, clothes, and linen. Yet, there will come a time when all of them will take into account of their lives and their duties on this Earth. The usage of a radical consumer culture and corporate dictates much of the modern capitalist economy. That is why the essence of an evil system is the making of man's desires (in the realms of lust, greed, etc.) superior to human needs. We know that the modern system is in love with glorifying dangerous foods, drunkenness, drug addiction, commodities, violence, wealth, power, and unnecessary prestige. The world today is heavily commercialized. The Golden Rule refutes the notion of the obsession with love of money and the pursuit of wickedness, because treating my neighbor as myself will have far more moral & spiritual benefits among all parties involved. The rabid capitalist extremist and Austrian Freidrich Hayek wrote in his book called The Fatal Conceit on pg. 13 rejected the notion of treating all men as neighbors as being restrictive to economic growth. The transformation of total freedom for markets and making everything like a commodity will grow economic inequality and maintain huge levels of unemployment. Altruism is superior to altruism. Allow and extreme version of a competitive ethic for every man for himself is very detriment to the ethic of humans working together for the common cause of building up the whole community. Society truly must act like a revolutionary community in that humans are respected as equals not as automatons. Even Ludwig Mises was forced to admit the following: "...A living Christianity cannot exist side by side with, and within, Capitalism." (Gemeinwirtschaft (Socialism), 1st ed., p. 421, as quoted by Jorg Guido Hulsman in Mises: The Last Knight of Liberalism, 2007, Kindle edition, location 5476). Far too often, mammoth industries of the military industrial complex relate to imperialism. Imperialism is a sin since it denies the dignity and equal value of foreign peoples. It is immoral since it involves the undue domination of countries by an oppressive, militaristic power base. Therefore, love and freedom must deal with social justice and human value not the excesses of consumerism. At the end of the day, I will never bow to Mammon at all.

We know the truth about libertarians. Some libertarians are very arrogant and refuse to even understand their errors or doctrines for that matter. They ignore the fact there is value in the collective. They are right that there is a great, overt value in individual power, but public power can be harnessed in a positive and just direction too. We know the agenda of the reactionaries for years. The reactionaries use disgruntled low level human beings as a means to continue with their actions. One such man is Adam Kokesh, who is an Iraqi war veteran. He is right on some things like the evil War on Drugs, marijuana issues, and laws like the Patriot Act. He is dead wrong to assume that the federal government can never do anything positive to enrich human lives. We see that the Civil Rights Act from the federal government did a lot of good for human rights. This fact rebuts his argument on the issue of the federal government. Now, he wants to destroy the federal government orderly as a means to have states’ rights as a means to conduct society. Adam said this by his own words. So, we know his agenda precisely and concretely. The issue with this is that human rights are superior to states’ rights and the states have used oppression against individual human beings before throughout American history. Kokesh was once jailed because of a protest that he was involved in. Kokesh is also a frantic supporter of Ron Paul. Ron Paul is very much antigovernment and pro-austerity. Ron Paul backer Peter Thiel was a Bilderberg attendee. The Bilderbergers know that tons of real Patriots are opposed to their agenda. That is why the establishment allows disinformation and controlled opposition to flourish in the world. Even the American Free Press continues to spew anti-black race baiting rhetoric in their organ and it was a descendant of the American Liberty League of the 1930's ideologically. According to Webster Tarpley, even Jim Tucker said that the American Civil War was a War on of Northern Aggression (and Tucker wanted reparations for the slave owners not for enslaved human beings. The reality is that the Confederates wrote slavery in their own Constitutions as one major justification for their secession from the Union). Many reactionaries love to hate President Abraham Lincoln since he used the federal government in various capacities. Tucker believed that the Bilderberg Group was in favor of socialism and hate free market laissez faire capitalism. The reality is that Bilderberger David Rockefeller hired the Austrian school libertarian economist Friedrich von Hayek as his personal tutor at the London School of Economics in the 1930s, and had later financed an American professorship for Ludwig von Mises, another Austro-libertarian luminary. So, the elite are in league with globalization, neo-liberal economics, and they love the Austrian School. This is evident on why David Rockefeller, Thomas Friedman, and others love neoliberalism. This is why the elite want austerity measures in Europe and the United States of America. General David Patraeus was in the 2013 Bilderberg Group as well. He was the ousted CIA Director. It is clear that the establishment is still fighting for militaristic aggression and harsh austerity worldwide not only in the States. So, it is our responsibility to fight for truth and oppose austerity efforts in the world. We also need to be fair and compassionate toward immigrants too. Many reactionaries are right to oppose unjust wars, but they are wrong to have xenophobic hatred against immigrants when a living wage including other actions can deal adequately with the immigration issue. The splitting of families and the immigration detention prisons in the USA are highly immoral. Also, we have the right to advance the interests of communities of color and reject harm to any innocent human being. Immigrants are scapegoats for this evil in society like my black people are. The reality is that laws like NAFTA allowed multinational corporations to rape the land, pillage the land, and cause low wages for workers. Mexican farmers have been harmed by this reactionary trade policy and then the problem grows in the Western Hemisphere. Folks harming indigenous human beings on stolen land have some nerve to claim to be some superior Americans indeed. The truth is apparent. The White House is not perfect, but the reactionaries are wrong to have some irrational hatred of everything that the White House executes. Even the administration is not to be blamed for everything wrong in the world. It is established that Ron Paul wants to strip union rights, refuse to raise the minimum wage, cut food stamps, end unemployment benefits, cut Social Security, cutting WIC for pregnant women including babies, etc. He refused to give money back to white supremacists that funded his Presidential campaign. So, that is his or Ron Paul's agenda. I fortunately disagree with that agenda, because I believe that altruism and compassion are superior to selfish individualism. The anarcho-capitalists are still around.

Many religious human beings including Christians (and others) are right that we need to confront the lack of love found in many human beings. That is one of the very weaknesses of a laissez faire capitalist society. Today, modern day consumers run to the global marketplace as a means to get merchandise and other objects. The human apathy can cause destruction in the world. The deal is that we should not lose our sympathy collectively for each other. If we do, then we can act irrational and that reality can cause wars and other forms of destruction in the Universe. The super-rich know that more human beings are waking up about political corruption and the neoliberal globalized system. That is why they advance more law and order including more security (as a means to control the masses and protect them from revolutionary fervor. The super-rich have access to advanced technology too). Also, Yeshua is right to say that in the end times, the love of many shall wax cold as found in Matthew 24:12. Since, humans are made up of body, soul, and spirit, then we should follow the truth. We ought to realize that we need to follow the will of the Father not the will of market forces. We should know that we should get our spirituality in order without the devouring of fleshly pleasures in an inappropriate fashion. A basic truth is that we should love our neighbor as ourselves and serve humanity in a just fashion. Greed is one concept that relates to selfishness and other evils. That is why it is common that that we love God, love human beings, and love not this world. We should continue to express generosity and humility. The enemy wants us to serve ourselves first, to get wealth and possessions in a lustful fashion, and to indulge in selfishness including other lusts of the flesh. When you look at the big picture, we see that capitalism views life as a competition, it loves consumerism, and it loves covetousness. Everything in the world is not a commodity that is made marketable. Money is not necessary for all things of life and we should not bow before the marketplace at all. For centuries, we have seen the decline of love and the increase in commerce. That is why the merchants of laissez faire capitalism like Bernard Mandeville, Adam Smith, Ludwig Mises, Friedrich Hayek, and Milton Friedman, as well as Ayn Rand (who is referred to by her biographer as "Goddess of the Market"), have all expressed their contempt for love, charity, sympathy, benevolence, or altruism. They are activists for Mammon and not for social justice indeed. Covetousness is nothing more than idolatry at the end of the day. When you have a commercialized world, love is debased in the world. When you witness the economic exploitation in the world, the Golden Rule is seen as the enemy. When I woke up about this reality, I saw the world much more clearly. The elitists want worldly comfort, luxury, and prestige at the expense of dignity of the masses of the rest of the human race. That is why we need altruism, truth, love, and justice as a means to improve our lives and redeem our souls.

It is not a secret that much of the pharmaceutical companies are corrupt and they are making about 280 million dollars a year in the USA. 70 percent of all Americans alone rely on their drugs. The culture of a pill for every problem has not been good for us in general. History has shown us that an over reliance on pill drugs have done a number in the world. In America, the number of human beings hooked on legal drugs dwarfs the number of people hooked on illegal drugs. There are more people killed by legal drugs than illegal drugs. Just because a drug is classified as legal, doesn't mean that it is safe. The big pharmaceutical companies with aid from some in the federal government advance this agenda. Some prescription painkillers are some of the most additive drugs in the planet. They kill more Americans every year than heroin and cocaine combined. Many antidepressants are turning millions of Americans into acting like zombies. Some of such drugs can increase the risk of suicide if utilized in an improper fashion. Big Pharma wants huge profits indeed. We know many signs and evidences that show the truth that pharmaceutical companies are reaping huge profits at the expense of human lives. The Mayo Clinic (as presented by a study made by them) found that 70 percent of Americans are on at least one prescription drug. There is about 20 percent of all Americans are on at least five prescription drugs. According to the CDC, 9 out of 10 Americans that are at least 60 years of age say that they have n taken at least one prescription drug within the last month. The 11 largest pharmaceutical companies combined rake in about 85 billion dollars in profits in 2012 (and Americans will spend more than 280 billion dollars on prescription drugs).  According to AlterNet, last year: “11 of the 12 new-to-market drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration were priced above $100,000 per-patient per-year." Children in the United States are three times more likely to be prescribed antidepressants than children in Europe are. A Government Accountability Office report found that about one in three foster children in America are on at least one psychiatric drug. All of those antidepressants don’t seem to be working too well.  The suicide rate for Americans between the ages of 35 and 64 rose by close to 30 percent between 1999 and 2010.  The number of Americans that are killed by suicide now exceeds the number of Americans that die as a result of car accidents. In the United States of America, you are 64 times more likely to be killed by a doctor than you are by a gun. This is why a lot of Patriots and a lot of activists are fighting against Monsanto, against non-labeled GMOs, etc. Now, with all of that money we spend, we are still not the healthiest people in the world. Our life expectancy is higher other nations. Yet, we have very high rates of cancer, heart disease and diabetes.  The deal is that our health care system is dominated by Big Pharma and corporate interests. That is why we need more health freedom, advance universal health care, avoid GMOs including other poisons, and we should have real natural health reforms. We need collective solutions and individual ones as well. These individuals ones including the reality that we need to exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep, drink a lot of good quality water, get organic foods, get the appropriate vitamins and nutritional supplements, and stimulate our minds intellectually (with puzzles, games, writing, helping society in programs, and being active in our communities). Other human beings want a more balanced diet, some are going vegan, and some are going raw foods. Do you, yet remember to make sure that you make great health choices.
