Savant on Capitalism

Capitalism is GLOBAL, and there are no longer any nations completely outside the orbit of capitalism. As capitalism creates poverty and unemployment (more severe in poorer countries that richer ones) it isn't surprising that tens of millions of whites in America are impoverished. However, the economy is also racialized. We have what south Africans used to call "racial capitalism." Racism combined with capitalism tends to disproportionately sequester people of color (surtout Blacks and Latinos in USA) to those parts of the economy where the work is dirtier, harder, less secure, and more poorly paid. Hence you find that poverty exists in ALL racial groups regardless of "culture"), but disproportionally in Black and Brown communities. Also, the data which I've seen show that their is little difference between Blacks and Browns as far as the general standard of living is concerned. Similar levels of unemployment, children living in poverty, etc. Obviously, it is also a matter of CLASS. Capitalism is a CLASS SYSTEM as was medieval feudalism, but a more modern class system. Neither race, color, religion, culture, gender or education secures you from the ravages or at least danger of destitution. And there has been a rapidly growing gulf between haves and have nots in our society. Even the once secure "middle class" is not longer secure, and increasingly no longer middle class.
