A Great Point

Such moral equivalence between the violence of the oppressor and oppressed is simplistic and foolish. The violence of insurgent Jews in Warsaw is not morally equivalent to the genocidal violence of their Nazi oppressors. The violence of Native Americans in defense of their land and lives against European colonizers is not morally equivalent to the genocidal violence of those colonizing Europeans. And the violence of the Deacons for Defense is not morally equivalent to the repressive violence of the KKK and racist southern cops. Violence is always ugly, but the violence of the oppressor--the original origin of all violence--is unconditionally evil. And any attempt to either justify the oppressor's violence or to suggest a equivalence between the violence of the oppressor and oppressed is really little more than a morally promiscuous apology for oppression.
