Florence and other News.
Right now, Hurricane Florence is starting to slam the area of North Carolina.Power is off in many places like in Wilmington, North Carolina. There are people at New Bern and other places suffering. The storm surge and the rain has caused massive flooding throughout the region of Eastern North Carolina. Florence is expected to travel into South Carolina and then into the Northeast. Authorities so far have rescued many lives who were trapped by the storm's flood waters. The storm is large and the problem is that it's traveling very slow. Many reporters are at many locations at North Carolina and South Carolina experiencing high winds and plenty of rain. At least 400,000 people in the region have their power off. No one should be surprised at Trump. Today, Trump had denied that almost 3,000 Puerto Rican human beings have died by the Hurricane. His disgraceful response to the Hurricane, his racism, and his bigotry outline who he is. He is a dishonorable per son and he minimizes the existence of climate change too. The Republicans supporting him are part of a whole disturbing mentality.
Yesterday was the Birthday of Brother Michael Johnson. He's 51 years old. For decades, he was part of track and field and he run many awards including gold medals in the Olympics Games of 1992 in Barcelona, Spain and in Atlanta, Georgia in 1996. In fact, he has 4 Gold Medals and 8 World Championships. Dallas, Texas is the place of his birth. He came into Baylor University as well. He was the first man to popularize wearing golden shoes in the 1996 Olympics. I remember that since 1996 was one of the best years of my life in the 1990's. 1996 had music from legends and it was a soulful time. He ran track in 2000 in Sydney to win his final gold medal for the 400m. He had a legendary career and has certainly motivated future legends in the future. He also cheered when Usain Bolt broke his 200m record too. I wish Brother Michael Johnson more blessings.
These racists are doing every thing in their power to try to stop Serena from breaking that record. Serena has every right to speak her mind. The umpires threatening to boycott her is beyond petty, but represents jealousy, sexism, and racism. There is no question that Serena is under attack from white racists using a racist cartoon image, lies, the catsuit ban, and other policies. No black woman should be mistreated. Black women should be treated with dignity and with respect. Also, she is a victim of sexism as plenty of men tennis players have broken rackets, used profanity, and cursed out umpires, but these tennis players aren't punished. Therefore, we have to support Serena Williams' right to promote her dignity. One of the most disgusting, evil statements of this month came from NRA member Dana Loesch who said that Botham Jean should have a gun and then the outcome would be different. She's sick. First, Jean have every right to not have a gun if he doesn't want to. Also, the cop had no business to come into Jean's home in the first place since it's his home, he is an innocent man, and he had no legal warrants on him. The cop had no business trying to interfere in his life. If a black man shot a cop in Texas in that way, that black man would be in risk of life in prison or death. Let's keep it real. The judicial system is not colorblind. The NRA in its leadership are extremists. The NRA was invented in the late 19th century as an organization made up heavily of former Union soldiers who wanted marksmanship and reasonable gun usage. By the late 1970's, a coup occurred when the far right dominated the NRA and promoted extremist policies (and fought against even background checks, assault weapons bans, and other common sense gun measures). Dana is a known hater of Black Lives Matter and she makes no bones about disrespecting those who disagree with her reactionary views. We have to call it out. This was not some manslaughter. That cop used cold blooded murder against an innocent black man. So, we must stand on truth and justice.
RIP Brother Botham Jean
Black Lives Matter
There is a new movement out here. It's called the DOS movement. I want to give the heads up, because I haven't heard of this movement before until recently. Its goal is to promote reparations, which is good. It also wants to promote the interests of African Americans or what they call DOS or the descendants of slaves. That's fine. I am an African American obviously. The problem with the DOS movement is that it is heavily xenophobic and anti-African. Likewise, I'm pro-African including pro-African Americans. Many members of this movement want to scapegoat Africans unfairly when we're all descendants of Africans literally. Africans have made great contributions in world history along with African Americans. We can collaborate with each other on many endeavors. I don't believe in divisive divisions in the African Diaspora.
Therefore, I can never support the DOS movement, especially when that movement is against Pan Africanism. Since my youth, I have been pro-Pan-Africanism (as advocated by Malcolm X by his words and deeds) and I'm that way forever. I'm pro-African American and I'm pro-African since we all belong to the same human family. Being pro-black liberation means to honor Africans and all members of the African Diaspora. That means that we must have an international connection with our Brothers and Sisters in America plus worldwide. Loving Africa is part of legitimate thinking. We must always learn about African history and love our black culture. That is why learning African languages and researching African cultures is very important. That's commonsense along with having a working class consciousness. So, I want you all to have the heads up and know about this information.
