Time Continues.

The funeral of Andrew Brown Jr. took place on Monday on May 3, 2021. Andrew Brown was murdered by the police in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. His family has continuously called for justice and accountability. While people are in the streets protesting, forces of reaction desire the constant status quo. Sheriff deputies were involved in his killing. The Rev. Al Sharpton gave the eulogy at his funeral. For a while now, authorities have refused to show the complete video of the shooting to the general public. Many sheriffs were place on administrative leave, and some are back in regular duty assignments. It the height of hypocrisy for policing authorities to claim transparency when they refuse to show the contents of a tape weeks after the unjust killing of a black man. Benjamin Crump, Bakari Sellers, and Harry Daniels were in the church where the funeral took place too. Brown's family was only allowed to see a 20 second snippet of the events. That is a total disgrace. The FBI has opened a civil rights investigation into the shooting too. Daunte Wright and Ma'Khia Bryant has passed away as well.

Black Lives always Matter.

Right now, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are touring the country to promote the infrastructure plan and the family plan to the American people. These policies are supported among the vast majority of Americans. Also, Biden and Harris are touring into working class areas, and Biden wholeheartedly desire a deal to get progressive actions accomplished Biden wants Republican support, moderate Democratic support, and other human beings to go along with his agenda. This goal is not easy, but if Biden get these laws passed, then it would be a whole new development involving the Biden legacy. Biden knows this, which is why he is traveling nationwide in order for his proposals made into law. The GOP's plan of $189 billion for infrastructure is anemic as we have roads breaking downs, schools in need of upgrading, and hospitals in need of help. A strong infrastructure, health care, and education causes higher productivity and a stronger nation. That's just common sense and proven by history. Families need paid leave, our cities and rural areas need new buildings, and our nation deserves further investments in order for it to be better. Therefore, a robust Biden infrastructure plan is needed to help society.

Some sad news is that four people have died and 2 dozen were injured after a migrant boat cap sized near San Diego, California. Rick Romero is a lifeguard lieutenant for San Diego Fire Rescue. He told Reuters that many people were drowning in the water. People speculate that the boat was a human smuggling vessel. The operator of the boat is in custody and cooperating with federal agents. There is an increase of maritime border crossings in recent years according to the U.S. Border Patrol. The Border Patrol reported a 92 percent increase in apprehensions at sea. This comes during our immigration crisis where asylum seekers suffer, children are detained, and a border wall exists between America and Mexico. 22,500 migrant children are held now in detention centers run by the Department of Health and Human Services. This is an international problem. We have the most serious migrant, immigration crisis since the end of World War II. Many migrants are stranded at Sea near Europe. Some asylum seekers (which includes black Africans) are sent back to Libya where some face rape, torture, and slavery. The only solution is a comprehensive approach where immigrants are given resources to survive, nations must work together to address the reasons why asylum seekers escape their own country of origin in the first place, and have a comprehensive immigration policy that honors fairness and human rights too. The Golden Rule requires us to treat our neighbor as our ourselves. If we treat our neighbor wrongly if he or she is an immigrant or migrant, then that is a violation of the Golden Rule. It's as simple as that.

Mitch McConnell saying that 1619 is not an important date in American history is not only racist and offensive. It is part of the GOP's agenda to sugarcoat real American history. 1619 was when black slaves from Central Africa were sent to Virginia against their wills. There were black people in America before 1619 obviously, but 1619 was a date that signified how more black people lived in North America. Mitch McConnell and other far right people don't want schools to be educated on slavery or race critical theory for any sincere reasons. They desire to manipulate young people to embrace a false, whitewashed view of how America got started. The 1619 Project was a historical project which wanted to show how slavery was a key part in the forming of America and how black Americans made huge contributions to fight for democracy despite how many in America advanced anti-democratic policies. Therefore, we are clear that historical truth matters. That means that America's contributions, bad history, and everything in between must be known to the world public. Nikole Hannah-Jones is the Pulitzer Prize winner who created the historic 1619 Project. That is why we do know that oppression is intersectional.

The same people who hate black folks like me hate other marginalized groups of people (like Asian people, Latino people, homeless people, poor people, etc.). It is certainly important the black interests must be promoted in America. We (who are black people) voted Trump out of office percentage wise more than any other demographic. Therefore, our interests must be promoted by the Biden/Harris administration without preconditions. That is why I always say that we want black people to have resources to determine our own destinies not tokenism. Racism is not just about individual prejudice. It is about a systematic, oppressive system that harms black people the world over. Therefore, black people have every God-given right to advance the purpose of promoting black liberation. Just because modern day American slavery is not here, many people benefit from privilege. Indicting evil and promoting truth make sense.
