Our Times.

President released his new $1.75 trillion spending package for the Bill Back Better bill. Negotiations have been going on for months. The question is whether the 2 moderate Democrat Senators will support this framework or not. Sinema and Manchin held up negotiations for months. Biden was involved in hours of debating and discussing this issue too. The ball is in the moderates' courts. The progressives did everything correct, and some of them even compromised to leave out legitimate proposals in the bill too. Therefore, we shall see what the future will be. The bill has no paid family leave, no free community college, no expanded Medicare, and it leaves out an important proposal too. There has been spirited talk. There is universal Republican opposition to the whole bill which shows the Republican leadership's moral bankruptcy on issues of helping the general welfare of humanity. The bill deals with education, climate change, and other issues.

FOX News and Tucker Carlson are supporting a lying documentary calling the 1/6 attack a false flag operation. They are trying to minimize the terrorist attack on 1/6, because FOX News is dominated by pro-Trump far right extremists. They are hypocrites too. Tucker Carlson must take a vaccine to have a job in FOX, but Carlson is the person showing vaccine skepticism constantly on his show. Trump dominates FOX News stories too in a favorable fashion. FOX News has always been known for biases. FOX never pretended their extremism. When even Geraldo Rivera criticized Tucker Carlson over Carlson's whitewash of the 1/6 insurrection proves that Carlson is over the line. On 1/6, extremists used speeches to provoke violence on the U.S. Capitol building. Rupert Murdoch knows all of this and still he is doing nothing to stop the documentary on his network. On the 1/6 insurrection, cops were assaulted, people were called racial epithets, property was damaged, and racists waved anti-Semitic plus a Confederate racist flag in the Capitol Building. That never occurred before in American history except on that day. So, we embrace facts, and that fascist movement will fail in the end. Freedom will prevail in the future, so justice for all is made into a reality.

Billionaires live in West Virginia, but Manchin still opposes a billionaire tax. He is even opposed to paid family leave. Taxing billionaires and super wealthy corporations fairly is just plain common sense. Manchin is funded by corporate interests. For over 40 years, we have seen how trickled down economics don't exist. Top Republicans recently have not only opposed a billionaire tax or a wealth tax. They desire the status quo from Mitt Romney to Mitch McConnell. The fact that Elon Musk can increase his wealth by $36.2 billion in one day, but Telsa can't afford to let autoworkers unionize is a testament to how we need radical change in our economic system. Musk paid no federal income taxes in 2018.

Today, we have a tide of fascism in American society. So far in 2021 alone, hate crimes against black people and other groups of people have increased in the past 5 years. We have a Michigan redistricting meeting delayed because of a death threat. We have a biased judge saying that Rittenhour didn't kill victims. Also, we have election officials and school board members being threatened by extremists. People with masks have been cursed at and assaulted nationwide. Doctors and nurses have been threatened and assaulted by cowards too. This is a reflection of a clear and presence danger of far right Republicans in this country. Many of these types are the same traitors who invaded the U.S. Capitol building to try to stop democratic processes from existing. We know that top election officials have testified on the mounting threats to Congress. We have new voter suppression laws that violate voting rights, and cowardly moderate Democrats in Congress who don't want progressive solutions to this problem. So, this is unlike any other time in generations, and we have every right to advocate for our freedoms.

Days ago was the Birthday of a late icon. She is Sister Ruby Dee. For decades, she has been a civil rights leader, actress, poet, playwright, screenwriter, journalist, and wife including mother. She was inspired by legends like Ella Baker. Also, she lived through 2 centuries from World War II to the time of the first African American President in American history. Ruby Dee won many awards, and she was married to Ossie Davis since 1948. Cleveland, Ohio was the city of her birth. Later, she was raised in Harlem, NYC. She graduated from Hunter College with a degree in Romance languages by 1948. She worked in the American Negro Theater with Sidney Poitier, Harry Belafonte, and Hilda Simms. She was in plays and films like The Jackie Robinson Story in 1950. She lead in the play of King Lear in 1965. Her roles in Edge of the City, A Raisin in the Sun, and Peyton Place showed her range and talent involving acting performances. She won a Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album for With Ossie and Ruby In this Life Together (with Ossie Davis and former President Jimmy Carter). She was in a choir on February 12, 2009 to honor the 200th birthday of Abraham Lincoln. Her relationship with Ossie Davis caused them to have 3 children. Ruby Dee was a member of CORE, the NAACP, SNCC, and SCLC. She was a member of the Harlem Writers Guild for over 40 years. She talked at the 1963 March on Washington. Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis were personal friends of both Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. The Urban League gave her the 1970 Frederick Douglas award. She and Ossie Davis were arrested at the headquarters of the NYPD to protest the police shooting of Amadou Diallo. Ruby Dee opposed the Iraq War. She lived in New Rochelle, NY for years. Ruby Dee was one of the greatest actresses of human history, and now we always honor her cherished, glorious legacy as a human being who was aligned with Black Excellence.

Rest in Power Sister Ruby Dee.
