The January 6th Committee moves on contempt charges against Mark Meadows. Meadows wrote a book that Trump had the virus earlier than expected, even when he had his first debate with Joe Biden. Trump didn't tell anyone that he had the virus during the debate putting the lives of so many in risk. Meadows was hated by Trump recently, and now Meadows has backtracked and refused to testify to the committee. Meadows is another Trump acolyte and a coward, because everyone knows that Trump is a racist, a sexist, a xenophobe, and a neo-fascist. Mark Meadows still supporting him outlines his repugnant character as a man. This is beyond political ideologies. It's about right and wrong. Extremists used their far-right coup d'état attempt in trying to overthrow American democracy (on January 6th, 2021). They failed, but these same fascists are using electoral changes in trying to do it again in 2024. We have to be vigilant on seeking out the facts conclusively.
Some breaking news is that the Appeals court rejects Trump's bid to keep January 6 documents from the House committee. Trump wanted to block such documents from being investigated by the committee. Trump urged the crowd on that infamous day to march into the Capitol to try to take back "the country." Trump lost his obstruction effort during this time. Judge Patricia Millett (who was appointed by former President Barack Obama) said that democratic institutions and traditions are fragile. President Biden said that isn't President anymore (and the circumstances of January 6 require transparency). In the final analysis, people deserve the truth, the timeline of events, and make sure that accountability is fully enacted. Trump Attorney John Eastman has testified in the January 6 probe today. Congresswoman Liz Cheney said that 4 major people testified recently.
The U.S. economy is much better than what Manchin and others are saying. The unemployment rate has fallen to 4.2% last month. The child poverty rate has been cut in half in 2021. The number of people who gave up trying to find a job is just 7.6%. The U.S. GDP has grown by 6 percent in 2021 since President Joe Biden was in office. There have been about 5.6 million jobs added in 2021. This is the largest number of jobs created in the first 10 months of any presidency since records began in 1939. Inflation rates now are much lower than in previous decades like during the days of Reagan. Supply chain bottlenecks expected to ease greatly by 2022. Not to mention that a $1 trillion infrastructure law will cause more jobs, a better Internet system, and more developments in urban plus rural communities nationwide.
Yesterday was the Birthday of Sister Stacey Abrams, and she is now 48 years old. As one of the most prominent leaders of our generation, she is a famous fighter for voting rights. Madison, Wisconsin is the city of her birth. She is the 2nd of 6 siblings. Gulfport, Mississippi is where she was raised. The family also moved into Atlanta, Georgia where her parents pursued graduate degrees at Emory University. They became Methodist ministers. Stacey Abrams was a valedictorian at Avondale High School. When she was in high school, Abrams was a typist for a congressional campaign. By the time she was 17, she was hired as a speechwriter based on the edits she had made while typing. In 1995, Abrams earned a Bachelor of Arts in interdisciplinary studies (political science, economics, and sociology) from Spellman College, magna cum laude. She worked in the youth services department in the office of Atlanta mayor Maynard Jackson.
Abrams interned at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. She helped to protest the Confederate emblem of the Georgia flag until it was eliminated from the Georgia flag. That was in 1992. She earned a Master of Public Affairs degree in 1998. By 1999, she earned a Juris Doctor from Yale University. She worked in a law firm in Atlanta. By 2002, she was a deputy city attorney for the city of Atlanta. She was part of the Georgia General Assembly. She became more known when she ran her 2018 gubernatorial campaign. Also, she worked with other activists to expand voter registration services in Georgia too. To this day, she has fought voter disenfranchisement. Abrams helped to register about 800,000 new voters that caused Biden to win Georgia. She was an elector in Georgia too. Abrams is a progressive who wants Medicaid expansion, small class sizes in education, gun control, etc. I wish Sister Stacey Abrams more blessings.
