One of the most important news now is what is happening in the nation of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is having massive political and social conflicts. Putin has sent 2,000 occupation troops in order to shoot and kill protesters on sight as promoted by the leaders of Kazakhstan government. The January 1, 2022 protests came about energy prices increasing after 30 years of the regime of Nazabyev-Tokayev. Many people have died in the unrest at Kazakhstan and Belarus. December 2021's unemployment numbers are down to 3.9%. We have wage growth and many economic improvements. The Supreme Court will take up the case to decide Biden's OSHA vaccine requirement. Central Asia is having massive political crisis. Military checkpoints are all over Kazakhstan too. The city of Almaty in Kazakhstan is turned into a war zone. At least 164 people have been killed in the country. The internet shutdown is over there too which is a violation of the freedom of speech. Russia justified coming into the nation with troops as part of the framework of the CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization). This is their first intervention since 1992. We know that Kazakhstan is a nation with a lot of resources where the U.S., Russia, and China are watching. Asatana has ties with Turkey (a NATO member state), while most of Kazakhstan have positive relations with China and Russia.
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris gave their speeches to defend voting rights. Atlanta is home to many civil rights legends and social activism. Now, it is certainly the time to expand voting rights. President Biden gave a speech to call for the changing of the Senate rules and eliminate the filibuster if Republicans block voting rights legislation. Vice President Kamala Harris wanted to fight to "safeguard our democracy." Congress is debating voting rights issues. Biden wants a Senate rule change to pass voting rights. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer set a deadline of January 17, 2022, or on MLK Day for the Senate to vote on filibuster rules change. It's a disgrace when one state passed a law to ban giving water to people in line to vote. Biden said that he is tired of being quiet. Both Biden and Harris want to Pass the Freedom to Vote Act fully. Vice President Kamala Harris said that Republicans are wrong for obstructing voting rights legislation. Many protesters were there, because they view Biden as not going far enough to defend voting rights. Now, we have at least 440 restrictive bills in 49 states. The late Congressman John Lewis risked his life for voting rights, equality, and justice. Now, it is certainly time for new progressive laws to exist in making sure that all Americans have the right to vote without restrictions, without exceptions.

We have an epidemic of the breakdown of our democracy from unjust voter suppression laws to far right extremists threatening elected officials. Manchin, Sinema, and far right extremists are doing nothing to promote a strong, progressive legislation to address voting rights issues. Tons of people have shed their blood for this right. Now, we know what is at stake. A long time ago, many of our ancestors were in the military to defeat the Confederates of the 19th century and the Nazis of the 20th century. Today, we have neo-fascists and their propagandists in the 21st century. These neo-fascist view humans as not equal based on color, creed, or someone of another background. They view violence against innocent people and property as righteous. They embrace outlandish views on science. They promote their agents like Jesse Watters (who is promoted by FOX News at 7pm. EST) and Tucker Carlson to spew their nonsensical views. Donald Trump is an authoritarian neo-fascist who has control over the leadership of the GOP. That is precisely the reason that we must earnestly advance democratic values wholeheartedly.
It is important to celebrate the life of the late Lani Guinier. She lived her life to fight for voting rights and justice. As a lifelong advocate for civil rights, she taught law at Harvard Law School. New York City is the city of her birth. She earned her B.A. at Radcliffe College and a J.D. at Yale Law School. Lani was inspired to fulfill their goals by watching Constance Baker Motley help protect James Meredith, the first black American person to enroll in the University of Mississippi. She graduated third in her class from Andrew Jackson High School. During the Carter administration, she was a special assistant to the Assistant Attorney General Drew S. Days in the Civil Rights Division. She joined the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (LDF) during the Reagan Presidency. She fought to help extend the Voting Rights Act in 1982. She loved her husband Nolan Bowie, and their son, Nikolas Bowie (a Harvard law professor). She will be missed. She was 71 years old.

She is the Queen of Hip Hop soul. For over three decades now, she has been a master songwriter, singer, and actress. When her music comes on, you can dance and have introspection about love. To feel the vibe of a woman, especially black women, you can listen to her songs a lot. She is the representation of the musical soul, personality, and resiliency of black women. She is Sister Mary J. Blige, and it was her birthday yesterday. She is now 51 years old. She was born in the Bronx, NYC. Her mother was a nurse, and her father was a jazz musician. Later, she grew up in Savannah, Georgia and in Richmond Hill, Georgia. She lived in the Schlobohm Housing Projects in Yonkers, New York. Her childhood was not a crystal stair, but she overcome a lot to become the legendary woman that she is today. By 1988, she was in a band called Pride. Also, she worked with Uptown Records. Andre Harrell and P. Diddy were her allies. Mary J. Blige released her first album called What's the 411? It was groundbreaking. She merged hip hop sounds with a R&B swagger. Her lyrics were based on her experiences and other human journeys too. Her first album won 2 Soul Train Music Awards in 1993. Her album in 1994 was My Life, another classic. She worked with Aretha Franklin, Nas, and other artists. One of her great songs was All We Need is Love. She has been featured on movie soundtracks and collaborations with hip hop artists like Method Man, Jay Z, etc. Share My World was released in 1997. Mary was the album that she shown in 1999. One of her best albums in the 21st century was 2005's the Breakthrough. Be Without You was her best song of the 21st century in my view. The Breakthrough caused Mary J. Blige to win 9 Billboard Music Awards, 2 American Music Awards, 2 BET Awards, 2 NAACP Awards, and a Soul Train Award. She continues to release music to this very day. By February 13, 2022, she plans to perform at the Super Bowl LVI. She has been on The Jamie Foxx Show, Strong Medicine, and other shows. She has her own perfume called My Life. Mary J. Blige made tons of accomplishments. Asa pioneer of neo-soul, refuting stereotypes, and inspiring future artists like Beyonce, Monica, Bryson Tiller, Adele, Keyshia Cole, Alexandra Burke, and other people, her legacy is permanent for real.
