Now, the Senate has confirmed the first black woman for the Supreme Court. It is a monumental, historic occasion involving a very qualified black woman. President Joe Biden and Judge Jackson watched the vote at the White House. The Breaking news is that the Senate voted 53-47 for Judge Jackson to be confirmed to the Supreme Court. It's a huge victory for America, democracy, representation, and justice. Every Democratic Senator voted for her including 3 GOP Senators. The names of the GOP Senators are Susan Collins of Maine, Mitt Romney of Utah, and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska. Judge Jackson experienced the most disrespect of any Supreme Court nominee in American history. It's shocking but not surprising. Historically in America, black women have been through the massive evils of racism and sexism. She was slandered by many GOP Senators as coddling pedophiles and other lies that she refuted courageously plus gracefully. She was asked silly questions like are there racist white babies, etc. by Ted Cruz, Cotton, and other reactionary extremists. Some GOP member disgracefully left the chamber after Judge Jackson was officially confirmed. These hypocrites lecture us on family values but they or GOP members show total unprofessionalism. Vice President Kamala Harris, the first black woman and the first Asian woman being Vice President, presided over the chamber during the historic vote in her role as President of the Senate. President Joe Biden congratulated her. Now, black girls and young women can look at you and see that they can be a Supreme Court Justice if they desire too. Judge Jackson is just getting started, and she will grow in her outstanding legacy as a black human being.
There are stories about many residents of Mariupol hiding from Russian bombs. Some have been forced to go into Russia or face death. Putin's scorched earth war in Ukraine is beyond just a war crime. It represents his evil and cruelty. 90% of Mariupol's infrastructure has been destroyed. A drama theater and an art school have been destroyed. It once sheltered hundreds of women and children. A maternity hospital was bombed too. More than 100,000 people remain trapped in Mariupol. One source mentioned Russian troops discussing killing Ukrainian civilians in intercepted radio transmissions. Now, many Ukrainians are camped at the U.S./Mexico border. Therefore, only one nation is responsible for this unjust invasion. It's Russia. For some to defend the Russian invasion of Ukraine shows that some people are traitors to democracy and truth. Putin's invasion is evil and unjust period.
Now, the Congress in the House is debating to give contempt for Navarro and another Trump aide. A judge limits Bannon's defense. Bannon is now under contempt. The judge ruled that Steve Bannon can't argue as defense that he was relying on his lawyer's advice when he refused to follow subpoenas form the Congressional committee investigating the January 6 terrorist attack against America. Right now, Steve Bannon is facing a 2-count indictment for not complying with the committee's lawful subpoena for documents and testimony. Scavino is voted on whether he will be held under contempt. This is a big deal, as people have the right to find all of the events of this coup plot involving Trump, Navarro, Scavino, Bannon, and other pro-Trump acolytes. Peter Navarro admitted on The Beat show that he believed in the myth that the 2020 election was stolen, and Navarro wanted to use plans to try to steal that election. He and Trump failed. Peter Navarro has refused to speak to the January 6 committee under oath. He refused to follow a lawful subpoena.
There are many updates on the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The eastern area of Ukraine still has massive fighting. The U.S. announced new sanctions on Russian financial institutions plus against more people. The regional military governor of eastern Luhansk region is urging civilians to evacuate some towns. More political leaders are accusing Russia of doing war crimes. In actuality, Russia has committed tons of war crimes in Ukraine. The Putin apologists say what about NATO. NATO's errors are no justification for Putin's murderous brutality at all. Sanctions are now made by the West against Vladimir Putin's adult daughters. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave a graphic story of the war crimes of Russian murdering civilians in Bucha at the UN Security Council. At least 167 children have been killed in the invasion, whose actual number may be higher. European ambassadors have met in Brussels to debate the European Commission's proposal on new sanctions against Russia. At least 1,563 civilians have been killed since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Anyone, who tries to defend the Russian invasion of Ukraine, is a traitor to democracy and human rights.
I remember a comment that Channing Crowder talked about Russell Wilson's and Ciara's marriage. Not only do I find Crowder wrong, but his words are disrespectful. It's not his place to question the legitimately of their relationship. From every account, Ciara and Russell Wilson are in love, they are spiritual people that worship God, and they have a very loving marriage. Crowder forgets that people can change. What interests a person back in the day can change over time. Russell Wilson takes care of his family, loves his wife, gives back in charity, and acts like a man. I find it rich that other people have so much to say about another's marriage when that marriage is none of their business. Crowder obviously doesn't know Ciara's type as she dated a diverse amount of people. Not to mention that both Ciara and Russell Wilson already were rich when they met, so it isn't about the money. Crowder calling Russell Wilson a square is part of coded language that sexists use to demonize any man (especially a black man, let's keep it real) who is upright, cares for children, and doesn't obsess with a fake bravado. You can be yourself without having a fake image. That is the point that Russell Wilson and Ciara convey every day in their blessed marriage. Now, Russell Wilson and Ciara will continue to live their best lives.
