Many central banks are continuing to tighten interest rates. Interests are rising globally, and this situation has existed before the war in Ukraine. Soaring costs of food, natural gas, and oil are very clear to witness. The growth of prices resulted from many governments not taking enough action to stop the pandemic using legitimate public health measures. Then, we saw supply chain constrictions, expansion of the money supply by central banks, etc. There is the increase of the interest rate by 60 percent by central banks since the start of 2000. The interest rates hikes are done by the U.S. Federal Reserve and the Bank of England. The European Central Bank wants to start lifting its rate in July of 2022 from below the zero level back after the 2012 euro crisis. Money is going to major financial markets, and emerging market bonds have massive loses. Brazil, Mexico, Chile, and Peru has raised interest rates too. Economic inequality, the pandemic, energy and food shocks won't help the economy. Revolutionary economic solutions are need. It's hypocritical for the same ones who advocate bailing out large corporations, then these same folks say that economic progressive solutions aren't needed. In the final analysis, we need real economic policies to help society.
Some Ohio lawmakers are considering a bill to allow armed teachers in school and limit them to 24 hours of training. This is extreme and lunacy, but we live in a time where some want this abhorrent proposition. Teachers should not be gun toting people. We need more reasonable responses to this crisis like red flag laws, universal background checks, and other measures to save lives. The far-right extremists want anti-racism books banned, a whitewashed history of America shown in schools, and a hatred of social justice. Yet, many of them want teachers to wave guns in schools. You have more regulations in owning a car than owning a gun. Common sense dictates that when you have mass shootings constantly in America, you need to pass gun safety measures. That is why the Senate now is having meetings to try to create gun safety legislation. Yolanda Renee King (or Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s granddaughter) wants a call to action to end gun violence in our land. There have been at least 15 mass shootings in America in recent days. That is just in recent days. We have a massive problem in America, and it must be fully rectified.
On this Memorial Day on 2022 (which was 2 days ago), we live in solemn times. Memorial Day is meant to remember the ultimate sacrifice of soldiers during the various wars of history. Back during the American Civil War, many Union soldiers died in fighting for the preservation of the Union and the liberation of millions of black slaves. Many Union soldiers were heroic black people. During World War II, many men and women soldiers from the Allied Powers worked hard to liberate multiple continents from the evils of fascism, racism, and genocide. Many Allied heroes lost their lives. Today, many soldiers have worked hard in helping families during disasters and storms, worked to promote honor in their lives, and have gone into almsgiving in multiple ways. Now, we realize the sacrifice of heroes to continue to stand up against racism, xenophobia, economic inequality, sexism, and gun violence to make sure that the future will be better than the past and the present.
Here is a new story about my family tree. For a long time, I knew a person who was found on Ancestry.com who is related to me. Her name is Jessica Lawrence, and for the longest time, I didn't know how she was related to me. Then, I did extra research on Ancestry.com to find that she is related to many members of the Claud family like I am. Also, I found out that her grandfather was Mack Franklin Peeples (1881-1939). Mack was my great granduncle, and he was the brother to my great grandfather Joseph Henry Peeples (1898-1972). Mack Peeples and Joseph Peeples' father was a man named Charles Peeples or my 2nd great grandfather who lived from 1855 to 1922. My mother always said that we were related to the Kindred family. Now, Mack F. Peeples married a woman named Josephine Charleston on February 22, 1931. C. P. Ivey was the person who performed the marriage ceremony according to the Virginia U.S. Marriage Registers.
A lot of people don't know that Mack Peeples had a first wife named Daisy Claud (who was my 2nd cousin). Daisy Claud lived from 1899 to 1927. They had many children like Fanny May Peeples, John Ralph Peeples, Joe Edgar Mack Peeples, and Wallace Frank Peeples. Josephine was Mack's 2nd wife after Daisy Claud passed away. Now, Jessica Lawrence is a descendant of Mack Peeples and Josephine Charleston (1912-2011). Mack and Josephine had a child named Jestine Peeples Kindred. Jestine married a man named William Henry Kindred on June 9, 1962, at Emporia, Virginia. They had many children, and one of their daughters is a woman named Karen Kindred Lawrence (b. 1965). My mother knows about Karen when she was a child. Karen married a man named Derryl Leon Lawarence on December 22, 1991, at Franklin, Virginia. Karen Kindred Lawrence lives in North Carolina now. Their daughter is my 3rd cousin Jessica Lawrence (Jessica has 2 siblings too). I found out that Karen is Facebook friends with my aunt Maureen. So, everything goes into full circle. I am certainly related to tons of people from Southampton County, Virginia indeed.
