The Gun Massacre Epidemic in America.

The actor Mathew McConaughey gave an emotional speech about the necessity to advance responsible gun regulations. The events in Buffalo, Uvalde, and other places of America prove to us that we need a change. Record mass shootings in America alone in 2022 is unacceptable. The status quo doesn't cut it, and the status quo have caused the deaths of numerous human beings. For a GOP Senator saying that South Dakotans need AR-15s to shoot prairie dogs outlines his lies and insensitivity to the victims of gun violence. An AR-15 will cause a prairie dog to die in mere seconds brutally. Matthew talked about the victims being so completely mutilated by the high-powered weapon that shoes and DNA evidence had to be used to identify some of the victims. Matthew wants to raise the age of owning an AR-15 to 21, red flag laws, the existence of federal background checks, and other legitimate regulations. The viciousness of far-right extremists and the NRA is horrendously clear. It is the height of hypocrisy for the NRA to ban weapons in their convention at Houston when Trump gave his speech, but the NRA wanted near unconditional ownership of weapons without regulations at all. This gun violence epidemic is real, and gun safety measures have nothing to do with harming or eliminating the Second Amendment. It has to do with saving lives and promoting a sane, safe, and progressive society.

As we near the televised hearings about the January 6th Committee, we realize that this is a start of a new chapter of our nation's history. This comes after a Buffalo shooting victim's son testified on Capitol Hill. We face a huge crisis to our democracy. I'm not talking about hyperbole either. When extremists sick to ban even legitimate anti-racist books from public schools, when some GOP members use gerrymandering to strip the voting representation of progressives (including black people), when we have a growth of hate crimes against black people (and other human beings), and when we have the real threat of white nationalist racists terrorizing Americans, then our democracy is truly hanging in the balance literally. There is a new DHS bulletin warning of heightened extremist threat from these far-right terrorists. We have to call out what evil is. The case of a conspiracy of Trump and his acolytes trying to overthrow the legal 2020 election is very much transparently clear. We have news reports, eyewitness testimonies, subpoenas, and other documented information to prove that the coup d'état attempt was nearly successful. This conspiracy was more than vicious and chilling. It was an evil display of desperate actions in order to invalidate a legal election outcome. It is antithetical to the essence of freedom and justice plainly speaking. We are against fascists. When Virginia Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, wanted Arizona state legislators to overturn the 2020 popular vote, then it is abundantly true that anti-democratic movements of neo-fascism must be repulsed and rejected.

Mass shootings have existed all over U.S. cities and other locations over the weekend. The only solution is being bold in the world. A gunman murdered a retired Wisconsin judge recently. The gunman had a hit list and included Senato Mitch McConnell, the governor of Wisconsin, and the governor of Michigan. We have a national crisis of gun violence in the world. Many Senators have said that a gun control deal may exist. While discussions are ongoing, terrorists are harming human lives daily. The FBI has domestic terrorism investigations in all 50 states. The biggest domestic threat in America is far right-wing extremist terrorism. Worldwide, we have been the growing global movement of nurses and health care workers involved in protests. They are against understaffing, exhausting workloads, and the erosion of living standards caused by the rise in inflation in the globe. There more than 2,500 nurses in Germany at the North Rhine Westphalia University hospitals that been on strike for pay and staffing levels. In the United Kingdom, 40,000 Scottish nurses at public plus private facilities are planning to walk out for wage increases. There are health care working walking out across the nation of France after being denied bonuses. Spanish doctors have strike for benefits and common economic justice.

Some breaking news is that Proud Boys leader and top members are charged with seditious conspiracy involving the January 6th terrorist, insurrection attack at the U.S. Capitol. The Proud Boys is a sexist, racist hate group who not only burned a BLM flag at a church in D.C. They have been involved in being violent against people, showing overt hatred of women, and promoting far right fascism. They are enemies of truth and democracy plainly speaking. The head of the Proud Boys is the sellout, Enrique Tarrio. These charges by the Justice Department against the Proud Boys represents a new era of the charging of criminals involved in the insurrection. Tarrio and his extremist followers have pleaded not guilty to the earlier slate of charges. One Proud Boy, named Charles Donohoe from North Carolina, pleaded guilty in April. He agreed to cooperate with the investigation. The Justice Department has brough one other seditious conspiracy case against the leaders of the Oath Keepers. The Oath Keepers have members accused of extensively planning and preparing for violence on January 6.

Days ago, was the Birthday of Brother Tommie Smith, and he is 78 years old. He is a famous track and field athlete who used a fist protest to protest racial injustice. Tommie C. Smith was a former wide receiver in the American Football League. At the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City, Mexico, he won the 200 m race with a gold medal and a time of 19.83. His friend John Carlos expressed the Black Power salute too. He was born in Clarksville, Texas. Tommie Smith was the 7th of 12 children. He attended Lemoore High School in Lemoore, California. He won many races before. Smith participated in basketball, football, and track and field. Smith and Carlos suffered a great deal after their heroic protest. Yet, they have been vindicated back then and now in their fight for justice. Smith earned his BA in Social Science at San Jose State University, and he earned a master's in Social Change from Goddard College. By 1978, he was a member of the United States National Track and Field Hall of Fame. Tommie Smith loves his wife Delois Jordan-Smith and their five children. I wish Brother Tommie Smith more success.
