News about our Democracy.

Some breaking news is that one pro-Trump judge has granted Trump a special master to review the Mar-a-Lago documents. This judge is a federal judge that allowed Trump to request to appoint that person. This means that a third-party attorney from outside the government will be brought to review the materials taken from Trump's Florida home. The Department of Justice can appeal this decision too. The order will definitely delay the Department of Justice's probe as it halts investigators from continuing to review the seized documents until the special master is done. The judge has set a Friday deadline for both sides to propose a special master candidate and their specific duties. The DOJ will evaluate the next steps in how they will proceed with their actions. Trump continuously lie and say that his constitutional rights have been violated when it was a legal search. Also, Trump stole classified documents from the White House, and he is part of a plot to try to steal the 2020 Presidential election.

The pro-Trump judge has allowed an intelligence committee damage assessment to proceed. The judge Aileen Cannon wants a special master to review documents seized from Mar-a-Lago. The judge didn't cite or mention information on what documents Trump alleged he may need. The judge's argument that irreparable harm is a legal matter after a judicially authorized search warrant is ludicrous in my view. The judge presented no evidence that Trump will win in his legal arguments. The Trump executive privilege argument doesn't work since he isn't President anymore. One of the most important stories now is the water disaster in the city of Jackson, Mississippi. This event proves that capitalism is not infallible, and it's a crime of capitalism basically as others have mentioned. 150,000 residents of Jackson don't have access to clean, quality drinking water still. Flooding caused the collapse of the area's water and sewage system. The city has a boil water advisory since July. The water, according to reports, remains foul and undrinkable. Long lines have existed, so people can get water in various distribution areas. About 600 National Guard soldiers have been deployed to Jackson, Mississippi by Republican Governor Tate Reeves, who oversees the distribution. This comes as rolling blackouts exist in California, outrages in Detroit, and water poisoning in Flint, Michigan. Underfunding to develop the water infrastructure in Jackson remains a serious problem. That is why the expropriation of the wealthy and the big banks to get resources to rebuild America's infrastructure.

President Biden recently gave a speech in favor of labor rights. We see his approval ratings increase to 45% now. Many Democrats are in the midst of possibly gaining power in the midterm elections. Voter registration among women has increased massively since the Supreme Court decision. So, we are in the final era of the 2022 election campaigns for the House and the Senate. The theme now is the fight for our democracy. Extremists want to deprive people of their rights across America, not just in the Deep South. People have the right to be angry about it and doing something about it like voting far-right Republicans out of office come November 2022. This is the most important midterm election of our lifetimes. It's not being cliche. It's just the plain truth. It's our responsibility to make real change, so our descendants can live in a better world than the past and the present.

Right now, Mary Elizabeth Truss is the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and the Leader of the Conservative Party since September 6, 2022. She has been a member of Parliament (MP) for South West Norfolk since 2010. She served in various Cabinet offices under Prime Ministers like David Cameron, Theresa May, and Boris Johnson. Right now, she is 47 years old. She was part of the Liberal Democrats before joining the Conservative Party. She supports free trade and is economically libertarian. Truss is controversial. Truss agrees with fracking as a means to reduce UK's dependence on Russian energy sources. Truss still wants to promote green enterprises to deal with the growth of climate change in the world. She believes in the Church of England and the Christian faith, but she is not a regular practicing religious person. Today, Truss is the new Prime Minister with an enormous amount of challenges and responsibilities in the UK. We shall witness what the future holds for her future political legacy during these interesting 2020s.

Days ago was the Birthday of Sister Imani Perry, and she is 50 years old. She is a famous scholar and author who was born in Birmingham, Alabama. She moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts with her parents when she was five years old. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in American Studies and Literature from Yale in 1994. Later, she earned her Ph.D. in American Civilization from Harvard University and her J.D.  from Harvard Law School (from which she graduated at the age of 27 years old). She was exposed to diverse cultures, regions, and religions with creating her desire to study race. Perry has worked as an adjunct professor at both the Columbia University Institute for Research in African American Studies and Georgetown University Law Center. Her books deal with race, economics, gender, and other topics. In 2009, Perry left Rutgers to join the faculty of Princeton University. She wrote a book about Lorraine Hansberry too in 2018 entitled, "Looking for Lorraine: The Radiant and Radical Life of Lorraine Hansberry." I wish Sister Imani Perry more blessings.
