Updates in Our Generation.

Elon Musk has publicly opposed the GOP budget bill (being debated in the Senate now) not because of it cutting tons of services from the people or its other harsh measures. He opposes it, because he feels that it doesn't go far enough in cutting money and services from the people. The GOP budget bill is a disgusting abomination, but it is that because of different reasons that Musk is giving. The Bill gives $664 billion in tax breaks to the one percent. It can potentially cut 13.7 million people off of Medicaid (that was created in 1965 and signed into law by President Lyndon Baines Johnson to help the poor, the elderly, many veterans, those with disabilities, and other human beings), and it can cut $290 billion from programs to feed the hungry in SNAP and other social programs. So, many in the GOP don't care about welfare for corporations and the superrich. They only want to be concerned about the deficit in dealing with vital programs that helps millions of poor and working-class people. They desire socialism for the rich and harsh capitalism for people who aren't rich.

Ukraine used remote controlled drones to attack military planes in Russia. This attack shows the vulnerability of Russia's military forces. America and even China were shocked at how Russia is struggling to defeat Ukraine. It shows Ukraine as being a stronger nation than people realize. Putin has attacked civilian targets. You can debate Ukraine having the right to do this, but Putin has regularly killed civilians and committed massive war crimes in Ukraine for years since 2022. President Trump has failed to create a peaceful resolution to the war as both sides are doing their own things. Zelenskyy did this secretly to not allow Putin to know what Ukraine is doing. This reality shows the necessity of Americans to have allies. The Russian bombers blown up has nuclear devices on them. There has been Ukraine/Russian peace talks in Turkey. It is important to note the Russian dissidents in Russia who opposed the authoritarian regime in Russia too.

There is more information about the terrorist who harmed people in the hate crime fire attack in Boulder, Colorado on Sunday. We have the First Amendment to protest peacefully. The criminal is Mohamed Sabry Soilman, an Egyptian national. He used a makeshift flamethrower and Molotov cocktails to attack innocent people who desire to see Israeli hostages taken home after being kidnapped by the October 7 attacks. Soilman tried to buy a gun, and he failed to buy an AR-15. That gun control measure prevented more people from being killed. Soilman has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and a federal hate crime. Soilman screamed Free Palestine, but his actions have nothing to do with liberating Palestinian people. His actions are nothing more than a manifestation of the same anti-Semitism and bigotry that has been going on fora long time. Soilman harmed innocent civilians on June 1, 2005, and his actions are strongly condemned by me. The victims range from people aged 52 to 88 years old. The 88 year old victim is a Holocaust refugee who fled Europe, and another victim is a professor form the University of Colorado. All people have the moral and constitutional right to peacefully assembly and protest, and Soilman violated that right. He should be held accountable for his hate filled, violent actions.

One member of the one percent who supports Trump is Peter Thiel, co-founder of Palantir, the tech company that Trump has used to build the largest government surveillance system in American history. Now, 30 percent of American jobs don't offer health benefits, and 49 percent of employed workers can't afford healthcare without going into debt. Trump's cuts to healthcare are only benefiting billionaires with more tax breaks. The GOP budget bill expands his power to ignore court rulings, gives the super rich a larger estate tax breaks, disqualifies almost 2 million children from the child tax credit, and gets more unnecessary red tape that can kick millions of people off Medicaid. A DOGE aide oversaw the mass firings at the CFRB, all while holding as much as $715,0000 in stocks in companies that could benefit from the agency being gone. That is why Senators Warren, Ron Wyden, and Jack Reed are calling on the Department of Justice to investigate this situation.

Yesterday was the Birthday of the late Sister Josephine Baker. She was a singer, dancer, and actress. She broke tons of barriers being a worldwide icon since the 1920s. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri. She escape a racial riot, and survived at a very young age by performing. She performed in America, and she loved to perform in Paris France since 1927. She was many of the prominent symbols of the Jazz Age and the Roaring Twenties. That age was a prelude to the cultural revolution of the 1960s in many ways. She also stood up for civil rights desiring equality for black people in America and worldwide. That is why she performed for integrated audiences during World War II, spoke at the 1963 March on Washington, and refused to play in clubs that discriminated against black Americans. She adopted children of many different backgrounds and colors to promote human equality and justice. She was a hero who aided the French Resistance during World War II to help defeat the Nazis. She worked with the British Secret Intelligence Service and the U.S. Secret Service to fight the Nazis too. She was awarded the Resistance Medal by the French Committee of National Liberation and the Croix de Guerre by the French military (and was named a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour by Charles de Gaulle). She passed away in 1975 at 68 years old. Her legacy is greatly appreciated as a warrior for free expression, justice for all, equality, and love of humanity.

Rest in Power Sister Josephine Baker.
