Early November Updates in 2023.

Rock and Roll during the 2000s was diverse and strong. The legacy of this time was that many people by the 2000s viewed rock and roll as passe, a fad, or lacking its original soul. Yet, like all musical genres (I do mean every musical genre, even gospel), times change. Musical beats and chords will differ over time. Many critics overlook many of the classic rock songs and albums during the 2000's. Here are many examples. There was the growth of nu metal band filled with Korn, System of a Down, Tool, Deftones, Slipknot, and Linkin Park. Linkin Park is based in California and made some of the greatest songs of our generation filled with messages about politics and social matters. The band had the rapper Mike Shinoda, lead guitarist Brad Delson, bassist Dave Farrell, DJ/Turntablist Joe Hahn, drummer Rob Bourdon, and the late singer Chester Bennington. Their debut album Hybrid Theory sold more than 30 million worldwide. Their music with songs like One Step Closer, Crawling, Papercut, In the End, Numb, Breaking the Habit, Numb/Encore (with Jay Z), What I've Done (in 2007), and New Divide in 2009 make Linkin Park one of the greatest rock bands of all time. Back in the 2000's, there was a post-punk revival with The White Stripes, The Strokes, and The Killers. Green Day made some of its biggest comebacks in the 2000's too. We saw Weezer, Blink-182, Paramore, and My Chemical Romance. In mainstream rock and roll, many groups made huge records and many new comebacks. After Nirvana broke up after Kurt Cobain's passing, drummer Dave Grohl worked with others to create Foo Fighters. The Foo Fighters had massive energy. By 2002, their fourth album was One by One. In Your Honor in 2005 had a hard sound. They made influential songs like The One, All My Life, Best of You in 2005, the Pretender in 2007, and Wheels in 2010. During the 2010's and the 2020's, they have made more records like Show Me How, Making a Fire, and Rescued. Radiohead Queens of the Stone Age, and Coldplay showed music. Red Hot Chili Peppers has been around since the 1980's being based in California. After their Essential Album: Californication album of 199, they made albums of By This Way in 2002 and Stadium Arcadium in 2006. Stadium Arcadium was one of their best albums with songs like Dani California, Tell Me Baby, and Snow (Hey Oh). That album was the band's first number one album. The album won 5 Grammy Awards. Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith, and John Frusciante are current members of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their recent albums are Unlimited Love in 2022 and Return of the Dream Canteen in 2022 too.

Hip Hop in the 2000s saw many different realities coming together. There was the growth of the commercialization of hip hop music. Hip Hop music was the most popular genre of music in the 2000s. That is why artists wanted to join in collaborations with hip hop musicians constantly. There were artists like Nas, Jay Z, 50 Cent, Kanye, Eminem, Outkast, Jean Grae, and other musicians showing their talent. Many people expressed party rap songs and more conscious plus introspective songs. Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg, Common, Nelly, Black Eyed Pears, T.I., Jeezy, Gucci Mane, The Game, Ludacris, Timbaland, Shawna, Missy Elliot, and so many other rappers expressed themselves in albums and songs. Also, this time saw the mixtape and ringtone era giving people more focused access to the music with artists like Souija Boy being popular. In the 2000's, Southern hip-hop grew to an incredible level. For example, we saw Mannie Fresh, Trina, Three 6 Mafia, Ying Yang Twins, Bubba, Neptunes, and other musicians being creative with their talents.  There was the group Outkast among the top 3 greatest hip-hop groups of all time. Also, crunk, snap music, and other subgenres of these styles was very prominent from 2005 to 2009. Lil Jon, The East Side Boyz, Yung Joc, Dem Franchize Boyz, D4L, and other snap music were shown in public from clubs to homes. The hyphy movement was found in the Bay Area at Northern California from Mac Dre, Keak Da Sneka, E-40, The pack, and Too Shoot. Nas shown his introspective works with albums like Stillmatic, God's Son, Street's Disciple, Hip Hop is Dead, Life is God, the King Disease trilogy (2017-2022) and the Magic album trilogy (2021-2023). By the mid to late 2000's, there was another change in hip hop too. The song evolved into alternative rap and indie rap with autotune and a version of techno beats. This was shown by Kid Cudi, The Cool Kids, etc. Alternative hip hop (some of it nicknamed backpack rap) was shown by Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco, The Roots, MF Doom, Aesop Rock, and Common. These artists wanted to use complex lyricism, introspection, studying philosophy, and criticizing materialism (and exposing other vices in society). Hip Hop has grown more international too in the 2000's.

The R&B of the 2000's has been massively underrated. I love tons of the songs of the R&B music of the 2000's for many reasons. One is that neo-soul was very strong in the 2000s with Alegbra, The Family Kindred, Maxwell, Jill Scott, and other artists. R&B music saw international success. Beyonce has grown into an international superstar by the 2000s and became an icon of music by the time she released the 2016 album of Lemonade. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recognized Beyonce as the top certified artist of the 2000's. Groups like Destiny's Child became the most successful women R&B group of all time selling over 50 million records worldwide during the 2000's (with singles like Surviva, Say My Name, Jumpin' Jumpin', Independent Women Part 1, etc). . Artists like Mariah Carey (she made the huge comeback with her album of The Emancipation of Mimi in 2005), Mary J. Blige (who made the hit Be Without You in 2003 being atop the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs charts for 15 weeks), Craig David, and Usher continued from the late 1990's into the 21st century. There was a huge olden age for contemporary R&B and urban soul music with artists like Janet Jackson, Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, Blu Cantrell, and Aaliyah. By this time, we saw Ashanti, Rihanna, Trey Songz, Cupid, Keyshia Cole, Bobby V, Jaheim, Musiq Soulchild, Fantasia, Floetry, Ciara, B2K, Pretty Ricky, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, Sisqo, and other R&B artists establishing their own legacies too.

Estrogen is one of the most important sex hormones in humanity. Tons of women know all about estrogen. Men and women should know about estrogen as a way to develop a greater understanding about how human beings function in general. Estrogen is a major sex hormone responsible for the development and regulation of the women reproductive system and secondary sex characteristics. There are three major endogenous estrogens that have estrogenic hormonal activity: estrone (E1), estradiol (E2), and estriol (E3). Estradiol, an estrane, is the most potent and prevalent. Another estrogen called estetrol (E4) is produced only during pregnancy. Estrogens are synthesized in all vertebrates and some insects. Quantitatively, estrogens circulate at lower levels than androgens in both men and women. While estrogen levels are significantly lower in males than in females, estrogens nevertheless have important physiological roles in males.

Like all steroid hormones, estrogens readily diffuse across the cell membrane. Once inside the cell, they bind to and activate estrogen receptors (ERs) which in turn modulate the expression of many genes. Additionally, estrogens bind to and activate rapid-signaling membrane estrogen receptors (mERs), such as GPER (GPR30). In addition to their role as natural hormones, estrogens are used as medications, for instance in menopausal hormone therapy, hormonal birth control, and feminizing hormone therapy for transgender people, intersex people, and nonbinary people. Synthetic and natural estrogens have been found in the environment and are referred to as xenoestrogens. Estrogens are among the wide range of endocrine-disrupting compounds (EDCs) and can cause health issues and reproductive situations in both wildlife and humans. The four major naturally occurring estrogens are estrone (E1), estradiol (E2), estriol (E3), and estetrol (E4). Estradiol (E2) is the predominant estrogen during reproductive years both in terms of absolute serum levels as well as in terms of estrogenic activity. During menopause, estrone is the predominant circulating estrogen, and during pregnancy estriol is the predominant circulating estrogen in terms of serum levels. Given by subcutaneous injection in mice, estradiol is about 10-fold more potent than estrone and about 100-fold more potent than estriol.

The actions of estrogen are mediated by the estrogen receptor (ER), a dimeric nuclear protein that binds to DNA and controls gene expression. Like other steroid hormones, estrogen enters passively into the cell where it binds to and activates the estrogen receptor. The estrogen: ER complex binds to specific DNA sequences called a hormone response element to activate the transcription of target genes (in a study using an estrogen-dependent breast cancer cell line as model, 89 such genes were identified). Since estrogen enters all cells, its actions are dependent on the presence of the ER in the cell. The ER is expressed in specific tissues including the ovary, uterus, and breast. The metabolic effects of estrogen in postmenopausal women have been linked to the genetic polymorphism of the ER. Women and men have estrogen, but higher levels of estrogen exist among women among reproductive age. Women have estrogen that promote the development of female secondary sexual characteristics, such as breasts, darkening and enlargement of nipples, and thickening of the endometrium and other aspects of regulating the menstrual cycle. For women, estrogen can darken the skin during pregnancy. Estrogen can improve the uterus lining, grow ovulation, and work to deal with pubertal development. In males, estrogen regulates certain functions of the reproductive system important to the maturation of sperm and may be necessary for a healthy libido. For men, androgens are responsible for pubic and body hair growth including acne and axillary odor. That is why human pheromones are a factor in mating selection and reproduction in human beings. Pheromones can be used to deliver information about the major histocompatibility complex (MHC). The MCH in humans is referred to as the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA). Each type has a unique scent profile that can be utilized during the mating selection process. When selecting mates, women tend to be attracted to those that have different HLA-types than their own.

When compared to that of strangers, babies are observed to have stronger neural connections with their mothers. This strengthened neurological connection allows for the biological development and socialization of the infant by their mother. Using these connections, the mother transmits olfactory signals to the infant which are then perceived and integrated.

In terms of biological functioning, olfactory signaling allows for functional breastfeeding to occur. In cases of effective latching, breastfed infants are able to locate their mother's nipples for feeding using the sensory information enclosed in their mother's body odor.

There is menopause that every woman goes through. It is the time when menstrual periods permanently cease, marking the end of reproduction. It typically occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, although the exact timing can vary. Menopause is usually a natural change. It can occur earlier in those who smoke tobacco. Other causes include surgery that removes both ovaries or some types of chemotherapy. At the physiological level, menopause happens because of a decrease in the ovaries' production of the hormones estrogen and progesterone. While typically not needed, a diagnosis of menopause can be confirmed by measuring hormone levels in the blood or urine. Menopause is the opposite of menarche, the time when a girl's period start.

In the years before menopause, a woman's periods typically become irregular, which means that periods may be longer or shorter in duration or be lighter or heavier in the amount of flow. During this time, women often experience hot flashes; these typically last from 30 seconds to ten minutes and may be associated with shivering, night sweats, and reddening of the skin. Hot flashes can recur for four to five years. Other symptoms may include vaginal dryness, trouble sleeping, and mood changes. The severity of symptoms varies between women. Menopause before the age of 45 years is considered to be "early menopause" and when ovarian failure/surgical removal of the ovaries occurs before the age of 40 years this is termed "premature ovarian insufficiency."

In addition to symptoms (hot flushes/flashes, night sweats, mood changes, arthralgia, and vaginal dryness), the physical consequences of menopause include bone loss, increased central abdominal fat, and adverse changes in a woman's cholesterol profile and vascular function. Other physical symptoms may be reported that are not specific to menopause but may be exacerbated by it, such as lack of energy, joint soreness, stiffness, back pain, breast enlargement, breast pain, heart palpitations, headache, dizziness, dry, itchy skin, thinning, tingling skin, rosacea, weight gain, urinary incontinence, urinary urgency. The annual rates of bone mineral density loss are highest starting one year before the final menstrual period and continuing through the two years after it. Thus, post menopausal women are at increased risk of osteopenia, osteoporosis and fractures.

These changes predispose postmenopausal women to increased risks of osteoporosis and bone fracture, and of cardio-metabolic disease (diabetes and cardiovascular disease). Many women use menopause hormone therapy (MHT) to deal with menopausal symptoms. Exercise may help with sleeping problems. Exercise has been thought to reduce postmenopausal symptoms through the increase of endorphin levels, which decrease as estrogen production decreases. However, there is insufficient evidence to suggest that exercise helps with the symptoms of menopause. Similarly, yoga has not been shown to be useful as a treatment for vasomotor symptoms. There was a time when menopause was taboo to talk about in public from 50-60 years ago. Today, more people are talking about menopause in a progressive fashion.

The 2023 Hollywood labor disputes from May 2, 2023, to November 9, 2023, is one of the most important popular culture events of our generation. The common myth is that most people in the entertainment and movie industry are balling with tons of money. The reality is that only a small percentage of those in Hollywood plus mainstream entertainment spaces are millionaires and billionaires. Most workers in Hollywood are just like most people earning income from paycheck to paycheck. With high inflation and many goods plus services being expensive, many people find it difficult to pay rent or live their lives economically. During this year, many strikes took place by both the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA. It was the second time two Hollywood labor unions were striking simultaneously — the first having occurred in 1960 – and as such, the American news media named this phenomenon the "Hollywood double strike" and surpassed the 1960 dual strike as well. Fran Drescher deserves a lot of credit for being a leading voice in support of SAG-AFTRA movement to reach just compensation. The dual strikes are historic being a fight against the excessive of artificial intelligence and desiring real economic rights. Both labor disputes have caused the largest interruption to the American film and television industries since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

The strikers didn't agree with a lack of compensation from stream services, the artificial intelligence movement threatening jobs from screenwriters to actors, etc. They wanted pay raises for screenwriters, actors, and people association with the TV plus film industries. They wanted safeguarding of jobs against the many advancements of AI technology.

On September 24, 2023, WGA suspended picketing upon reaching a tentative agreement.

Teresa Jordan calls herself "Raw T" in promoting a raw vegan diet. She started her fitness journey during her early 20s while she was living in the state of Hawaii. She loves to have a daily fitness lifestyle routine. She started to run in 5K and 10K races for years. She loves to perform in cardio and is very physically active to live her own life. Hawaii is a location where exercise is key part of their culture. She runs, do stretches, and exercises her abdominals. Her husband is the talented member of the R&B band of War, whose name is Lonnie Jordan. He plays the keyboard.
