The 2024 Vice Presidential Debate.

 

The 2024 Vice Presidential debate between former Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Senator J.D. Vance. The debate was more cordial than the Presidential debates of this year. Yet, Tim Walz won the debate, and the moderates were fair and used the mic muting power regularly in the debate. The debate started with climate change. Vance in the debate was more eloquent than Trump, but Vance used slick methods of omissions and falsehoods to express his ideas. He said that climate change merits nuclear power and omits that Trump called climate change a hoax. Walz said that climate change is real and must have total solutions to solve it like clean energy and other methods. In fact, the Biden/Harris Inflation Reduction Act has led domestic clean energy manufacturing investment to quadruple. Vance said that immigrants are contributing to the problems of housing and other economic issues in America. Walz said that housing issues and other economic issues can't be blamed on immigrants constantly but on policies from the super wealthy. Immigrants contribute heavily to the U.S. economy. Vance promoting the lie that legal Haitian migrants are eating cats is offensive and wrong. Vance supports Trump's economic policies that benefit mostly the super wealthy, and inflation was super high when Trump left office. Walz had a detailed plan on how to solve housing issues, on how to promote a federal law to have paid family leave, and solutions to deal with health care. I think that Walz's strongest performance was on health care and on the concept of democracy. Vance wanted a status quo completely privatized health care system.  Walz accurately stated that Trump wanted to ban the ACA without even improving it. John McCain saved the ACA when Trump wanted to eliminate it. Vance refusing to say that the 2020 election wasn't stolen is very telling when we know that the 2020 election resulted in a Biden victory. Also, the debate has shown a clear contrast between both members of the ticket. Vance said that Democrats promote censorship in COVID-19 and in other issues. 

The truth is that Donald Trump wants to jail his political opponents, once said that he wanted to abolish the Constitution, endorse book bans in schools, and want to be a dictator on Day One. Those policies are the epitome of censorship. Banning hate speech and banning people from using threatening, terroristic language on Internet forums is not censorship. We can have debates on issues, but we should reject book bans, voter suppression policies, and the evil agenda of harming democratic freedoms. Tim Walz has shown total honesty to admit his mistakes and defend his views, but Vance has inconsistencies (Vance once called Trump the American Hitler, and now he is supportive of Trump) with his views in a slick fashion. Tim Walz stopped to get pizza in New York City after the debate. The debate by 11 pm. EST.  

There has been an attack on Israel by Iran. Iran wants to retaliate over the death of many leaders of Hezbollah. Iran is an ally of Hezbollah and other Shia-oriented terrorist organizations. Dozens of missiles were sent from Iran to the cities of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa. An Israeli air base was hit by the Iranian attack according to videos. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that the attack focused on Israeli security and military targets. They wanted to respond to the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and others. The Israeli military said that about 180 missiles were fired at Israel. The U.S. said that it believed that Iran was preparing an imminent ballistic missile attack against Israel after Israel invaded Lebanon in a ground operation. Israel wants to target Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. Benjamin Netanyahu of course wants to respond and said that Iran will pay for his actions. There was a shooting and stabbing attack in Tel Aviv where seven people were killed. According to the Pentagon, the U.S. Navy destroyers fired a dozen interceptors against Iranian missiles. 

Some sad shocking news is that the basketball legend Dikembe Mutombo passed away today at the age of 58 years old. He was a legend for not only being one of the greatest defensive basketball players of all time. He was also great because of his kind spirit and his ability to use philanthropy to help fellow human beings. He was born in the Congo and went to excel at Georgetown in Washington, D.C., and at the Denver Nuggets. He also played in the Philadelphia 76ers with Allen Iverson, and other teams (like the Nets, the Knicks, and the Houston Rockets). He was an 8-time NBA All-Star, He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame too. He died from brain cancer. His family was with him in Atlanta at the time of his transition into the afterlife. He fought for health care, gender parity in pay, and the expansion of sports culture.

We see new developments in the world. We see fascists getting some control in Germany and Austria involving politics. Trump made the anti-Semitic statement that he will blame Jewish people if he loses the 2024 election. Trump's racist statements against Haitian people has agitated MAGA cultists to promote threats against the people of Springfield, Ohio. The Klan, the Proud Boys, and Neo-Nazi groups have been in Springfield to promote racist lies, but the truth is that tons of people in Springfield have stood up to defend the Haitian immigrants (who are legal residents) in Ohio. Trump, Vance, Loomer, and other MAGA extremists still promote the lie that Haitians in Springfield are heavily eating dogs and cats. The Trump cult only tries to blame Democrats for everything wrong in the world. Many of them hypocritically respect the dictator Putin. Trump wanted the police to have immunity from nearly all prosecution when Sonya Massey was murdered by the police.
