Putin is a liar. He met with Hungary's leader in Moscow. We know that Hungary's leader is known to make xenophobic, authoritarian policies. Russia is an ally of the reactionary state of Belarus. Putin is known to make policies that restrict evangelism, restrict democratic rights, and jail journalists who dissent with his policies. Putin is a far-right nationalist who aide Russian oligarchs that oppress their own Russian people. It is wrong for far right Americans and Americans who claim to be "progressive" to glorify Putin. Just because I disagree with Western imperialism, doesn't mean that we should praise Putin. Putin is wicked person. Putin hypocritically has over 130,000 troops on the border of Ukraine, but he said that he is not agitating for war. Trump, according to a report, wanted to seize voting machines in order to try to steal the 2020 election. This is beyond misconduct. It's treason. This could lead Trump to be charged and imprisoned after a trial. Pence's aides have been interviewed by the January 6th committee. This is a new era of this investigation. This new evidence is a bombshell. Trump asked Giuliani to make the DHS seize voting machines, and Trump is trying to turn on Pence (for wanting to make the committee to investigate Pence when Pence has nothing to do with the 1/6 insurrection). Now, we have bomb threats against HBCUs nationwide on the first day of Black History Month. Many states want to ban teachers from teaching about the Tulsa Massacre in 1921. 14 GOP led states wants to restrict teaching about race. This is wrong.
No one should be shocked at Trump's recent fascist speech in Conroe, Texas days ago. Trump told supporters to hold big protests in cities with prosecutors who have legal investigations of him in New York City and Atlanta. Trump is overt with his racism and lies, because he is a fascist. Trump's recent speech is nothing more than his call for dismantling American democracy. The former President Donald Trump has already admitted that he was in a plan to try to overthrow a legal 2020 election. He was angry that Pence didn't overturn the 2020 election. Like usual, most Republicans (except a handful of people) are silent on Trump's advocacy of fascism. Trump even wanted to pardon the terrorists involved in the January 6, 2021 insurrection against the U.S. Capitol. Trumpism is a threat to our society. GOP member and Senator Susan Collins saying that she won't rule out supporting Trump in 2024 is high disappointing, but it's not shocking.
The Trump failed coup has resulted in over 725 people charged. Oath Keepers militia group, Stewart Rhodes, is facing 20 years for seditious conspiracy. Last week in Georgia, Fulton County Superior Court judges approved Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ request to seat a special grand jury to be charged with gathering evidence in pursuit of possible criminal charges related to Trump’s efforts to muscle Georgia officials into overthrowing Biden’s victory in the state. Trump accusing black prosecutors of being racist is the height of Trump's hypocrisy and racism against especially black women. We know of Attorney General Letitia James found more criminality of the Trump business empire. More people should be shown the truth about how much on a thin ice our democracy is.
I watched both parts of the historic Janet Jackson documentary at Lifetime. It was very much important as the documentary is made with the voice and words from Janet Jackson (who loves to show music that celebrates dance, celebrates human expression, and has music that talks about socially conscious issues too). Therefore, it is the definitive account of Janet Jackson's life with the total views from Janet herself. It shows many parts of her life that we know, and other facets of her life that we didn't know. I didn't know that Janet Jackson debated with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis on lyrics on Rhythm Nation. I didn't know that in the Scream music video, they recorded many of their parts separately. Much of the film is very emotional with Janet Jackson feeling melancholy and crying because of the pain that she had experienced during the many decades of her life.
Janet Jackson is almost 60 years old remaining a premier icon of music. Janet Jackson established a large foundation where future artists like Kelly Rowland, Keri Hilson, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Ciara, Teyana Taylor, and other human beings stand on. One prime point of the film is that Janet Jackson praised her father, Joe Jackson, for instilling in the Jackson family discipline and strength to achieve greatness involving their music career. She is very close to Michael Jackson and Randy Jackson too. From her roles in Good Times, Fame, Different Strokes, and other shows plus movies like Poetic Justice, Janet Jackson was always a multifaceted entertainer. Choreography and being one of the greatest dancers of all time represent a large part of her legacy too. I feel like the Janet Jackson documentary was excellent, and it shows the ups and downs of her relationships (with James Debarge, with Rene Elizondo, with Q-Tip, with Wissam Al Mana, and with Jermaine Dupri). The unfairness of the Super Bowl fiasco was clear, and it showed the double standards of some who want to slander a woman (while ignoring others who done incredible injustices towards black people). Also, it shows the unconditionally love that she has for her son. You can tell that she had bountiful joy when Janet Jackson is around her child. The beauty of Janet Jackson is that she is a very kind person, a very strong human being, and she still has an aura of mystery behind her personality. There is great wonder about that mystery. Not to mention that Janet is transparent in answering questions and showing great honor to her humble beginnings at Gary, Indiana. Being moved by a mural of the Jacksons at Gary touched her soul. The Jackson family started as a Midwestern working class family who became very successful in our culture. Janet Jackson remains the best at what she does. She is a global icon of human culture and black excellence.
