Now, we have a snowstorm in Texas with below average temperature. The outages in Texas have been localized based on snow, ice, and down power lines. It is not as bad as the previous massive snowstorm. The Governor of Texas promised to keep the lights on. The wind and solar power have helped many people in Texas to survive dangerous weather. Fifteen years ago, people were warned of such an event in Texas. Texas government authorities did nothing until the massive snowstorm hit in 2021. The problem now is that there are billions of dollars sent to a few power companies funding the Republican agenda. With lax competition, some in the far right feel that they won't be held accountable for their actions.

Former Miami Dolphins coach Brian FLores alleges racism in his class action lawsuit against the NFL. It is no secret that racism is found in the NFL from former sports names to other incidents. The teams in question deny all of Brian's allegations. Brian Flores might be banned from being an NFL coach for life because of a backlash, but he is courageous to speak his mind. The fact that there is only one black coach in the NFL is a disgrace when over 70 percent of the players in the NFL are black people. There is a double standard. Brian Flores said that he was in interviews where people were drunk, and coaches were decided before his interview was finished. NFL's racist history is known. The football team in Washington back in the day had to be forced to integrate their team back in the 1960's. Today, racism is so bad in the NFL that the Rooney rule was created to allow minority people to just be interviewed for coaching positions. Kaepernick protested, and he was sidelined from the league. Former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores said that the Miami Dolphins owner offer him $100,000 to rig a football game. Flores said he has tons of receipts to prove this along with former Brown head coach Hue Jackson.

The U.S. is deploying another 3,000 troops to Eastern Europe. This is done to counteract the troop buildup of Russia on the Ukraine border. These troops are sent to 2 East European NATO member states. This increases the probability of war in Ukraine. Hopefully, that doesn't happen. The nearly 2,000 paratroopers are being sent to Poland to join a 4,000 troop NATO force already there. Others will be sent to Romania near the Black Sea. Washington mentioned that it has another 8,500 troops on standby. Russia has more than 130,000 near the border of Ukraine. Pentagon spokesman John F. Kirby said that this action will send a strong message to Putin. The Pentagon is sending another six F-15 fighter jets to Estonia, whose border is about 200 miles from St. Petersburg, Russia. The war mongering must be curtailed by America, and Russia must stop lying in claiming to want no invasion of Ukraine (but Russia has massive high level military forces near the Ukraine border). Another lie promoted by the far right and even progressives who claim to be "independent" is that Putin is just a rational leader. The fact is that Putin is a far right extremist with ties to oligarchs and has committed human rights abuses for years. Just because we disagree with the human rights abuses in Russia and China doesn't mean we agree with Western imperialism. 

Whoopi Goldberg recently was suspended from the View for her views on the Holocaust. I don't feel like Whoopi is some anti-Semite or want to degrade the suffering of the victims of the Holocaust. She was misinformed and wrong. She rightfully apologized. Here is the truth on the Holocaust. The Holocaust was evil. The Nazis were funded by many Western capitalist engines in an evil fashion. The Holocaust was highly racial. Hitler used literature, speeches, murder, and imperialism to exterminate 6 million Jewish people, Roma people, and other groups of people for racial reasons. Hitler was clear in his intentions for real. The Holocaust also caused the Nazis to murder black and biracial people in Germany because of racial reasons too. Yes, black people were victims of the Holocaust. The Nazis and other fascists were defeated by the Allies during World War II. 

President Joe Biden met with the moderate New York City mayor Eric Adams for a gun control summit and a debate on crime. Biden met with New Governor Kathy Hochul and other Democratic politicians including top officials of the New York Police Department. Adams is a former police captain. He was sworn in on January 1, 2022, as NYC's new mayor. Adams has been known for his controversies. He wants more of a police presence in a street with plainclothes anti-gang squads, after being disbanded after allegations of police brutality. Adams refuses to condemn solitary confinement which studies document it as torture and a violation of human rights. Adams call these units Neighborhood Safety "Teams." Biden didn't pass legislation named after George Floyd because of the massive Republican opposition in Congress. Even with some changes in the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, Republicans and moderate Democrats refused to support it. Biden wants to have an anti-crime agenda. Far right Republicans talks about increases in crime (which is a real problem), but they omit that violence is far below the level of the 1980's and the early 1990's when urban areas were harmed by the crack cocaine epidemic. COVID-19 is killing more people than the increase of crime. Everyday in America, more than 3,000 people die as a product of the pandemic. The solution to crime is not permanent imprisonment, scapegoating black people, scapegoating the poor, and massive police repressive policies. The solution is a holistic approach in making sure that crimes are dealt with along with the social causes of crime being dealt with (like eliminating poverty, having reasonable gun control policies, building communities up, investing in conflict resolution, improving housing, use policies to address the pandemic, grow education, establishing community programs, etc.). That is the truth.
