The only reason people will make excuses for what he said is because of who he is. If Bill O’Reilly or Glenn Beck said it – it would be all over Huffington Post and the rest and people would be outraged? Why? Because it is racist – just because he’s a comedian doesn’t mean it’s not offensive. Just because someone is smart and supposedly a satirist doesn’t make them immune from saying things that are utterly f’ed up and wrong. It’s disturbing to see liberals hold the same stereotypes about what Black people “really are” as people who are more openly racist. Bill Maher is a racist. Whether this proves it and whether he hates Black people in particular, I don’t know. But from the time of 9/11 (if not earlier) onward, he has released a torrent of Islamophobia. The kind of absolutely absurd, unbelievably small-minded nonsense you think only someone like Ann Coulter is capable of. Watch an episode of Politically Incorrect from November 2001 on YouTube. It’s 3 or 4 white liberals and an Arab and they show they were every bit as much out for revenge as Bush and using the same kind of language and stereotypes to do it. It’s been 9 years and Maher still hasn’t bothered to learn anything about Islam or Arabs, of which there are vast, complex histories and differences. Ignorance is nothing to defend.

@LordKaisen That's besides the point... Why would they do evil if it doesn't profit them? The converse is also true as we've seen, for instance, in the engineered upper class warfare Wallstreet market crash..see the Glass Steagall act (passed after the Great Depression) the government repealed in 1993, at the whim of corporate lobbyists, that started it all resulting in Biggest Robbery commited against US citizens in history!! Not to mention they're likely behind our two wars:Iraq & Afghanistan.

The problem is a guy like Maher going on his show with his huge microphone saying that Conservatives are are racist because they don't want health care to be the first product Americans are forced to purchase. How a race connection is made there is up to you to explain. But then this same Bill Maher can go on his show and explicitly talk about his race in a racist "comedic" way, and somehow it's not racist to the other liberal mouthpieces. Chris Matthews said while watching a speech of Obama's, "I forgot for a little while that he was black." Dan Rather said, speaking as though he were a conservative, "Obama couldn't sell watermellons on the side of the road with the help of the state troopers to flag down traffic." I've never heard a conservative mention his race; not once. Call it what it is... It was a RACIST Joke. Even if he is not a racist, the joke itself WAS. And in no way do I believe Maher is a racist, but neither is [you name the conservative].

If you define racism as the belief that another ethnicity or people are inferior, then yes, I would consider this joke racist. It implies that black people are more willing to resort to violence, and less capable of resolving disputes diplomatically.
If a black person makes a joke that implies white people are inferior, that would be racist too. People are allowed to say what they want, even if that's racist. People can pay to listen to their racist comments. But Bill Maher puts out a regular show, pretending to be this incredibly progressive liberal, and this huge friend of the black community. But he's not helping the community by throwing out stupid, uninspired caricatures. We got rid of minstrel years ago, and I wouldn't mind seeing this garbage disappear either.

People yelling at Obama for introducing "socialism" don't know the first s___ about socialism. Come on: free health-care is like, the most basic thing you should have for your tax money. At least here in Europe there is not a single country that doesn't have it. In Sweden, you get full treatment even as a foreigner with no need to show your insurance whatsoever!
btw. I am German and thus I truly know something about socialism! And Obama has nothing to do with it!!

@Brownbear7388 i had chronic bronchitis since 3 till i was like 15, was allergic to half of the things in the world )animals, dust, pollen etc), had asthma. then i started eating healthier, exercising, taking cold showers. also let my body fight the disease almost by itself. im 24 now, havent had a pill in about 8 years, my blood is perfect, physical parameters are perfect. I just wanna say that BEFORE relying on pills, start with fundamentals. it does help.
@Brownbear7388 you didnt get me exactly right. what im trying to say is that improving fundamental principles of life style (simple things like food and exercise) prevent those diseases in the first place. keeping immune system strong. those diseases dont appear out of thin air. they need a cause. if a virus causes a disease, isnt it better for your immune system to fight it then pills. i dont propagate any new age BS, im saying what works for me may work on others
