Real Words

I disagree. There is this erroneous attempt to associate problems that occur in many black communities with a lack of physical beatings. Unfortunately, even many blacks do not appreciate the extent to which systemic racism has wreaked havoc on our society.
Take the high rate of out of wedlock kids. Now look at the rap music industry in the last few decades. I hardly listen to rap anymore because most of them sound like the same person, and it's harming our communities. Non-blacks running the industry decided that misogynistic, materialistic, hedonistic music promoting a "me first" (often criminal) attitude was what mainstream rap would be. Then they get some black faces to sing/rap that message and slap on the cover of the album and all of a sudden their message is invading our communities. It's modern day propaganda.
Let's look at the prisons. Anytime you put people in a desperate situation you will have those that do the wrong things, and act selfishly, to get out of that situation. You're going to see some blacks acting in their own interest and doing criminal things to get to the top. Put white people in the same position and you would see just as many of them doing the same things. Add onto that the history of unfairly locking up black men and it's no wonder the core family isn't what it used to be.
There's a whole lot more I could go into---Including how if George Zimmerman were just another black man from the hood he wouldn't have had the right to carry that gun he shot Trayvon with, because instead of daddy providing that nice lawyer he would have copped to a felony when he assaulted that police officer.---but I don't have the time. The point is there are a lot of reasons for the problems we face. Lack of beatings (which we do more than any other race) isn't one of them. If there was a correlation we should have less black people in jail than whites whom beat their children less.
As far as Newt Gingrich and the republicans go, I don't like that party. Simple as that. When I was coming up a lot of black people would say they don't like the Republican party because they play to racism. Being a free thinker I formed my own opinions, and you know what? That party plays to bigotry, xenophobia, and racism. If Newt and his Republicans want to appeal to black people they need to start talking TO us instead of talking ABOUT us.

I couldn't agree more but most black people today don't feel there's nothing wrong in our communities. In fact most black people today feel like we already reached the promise land, all they need to feel that way is:

A job,a roof over their head,a car and a little bit of spending money, after that, they feel there's nothing left to stand up and fight for.

______________
Lets remember a black man named Trevor Dooley. In 9-26-10 he got into an argument and shot to death a white man that was assaulting him named David James. On 9-28-10 Dooley was picked up on a warrant with manslaughter, even though he cited stand your ground and self defense. On 5-9-12 his SYG claim was rejected by a judge. Dooley was told SYG was inapplicable in his case. Dooley has a trial date set in September. Its obvious that racism continues in all applications of laws. Especially self defense against whites. Now Kendle is just the latest in the realm of whites that feel that killing someone black can be done without punishment.

_______________-

The issue was a racial issue. The media didn't make it one. The problem you're having here is that you have the privilege to mostly decide when you do or don't want to deal with racism. It's not something you, as a white male, are forced to deal with as a reality of your existence in this country. It's a back burner issue, if that, for you. Black people suspected what this was before the Johnny-come-lately media got hold of it. The reason they knew what it was, though people like you are quick to dismiss it, is experience. Your experience as a white male in this country is going to be different than the experience of a black male. Instead of accepting that, there are some whites who want to run off at the mouth on a subject they are ignorant on, as if they are the experts. Blacks are more capable of recognizing these things because they've experienced them. Don't be mad at that reality. Be glad. You don't want that experience. At the same time, don't try to deny it. Think of it like this, there are certain ways men and women in our society act that would let us know that other person is interested in hooking up with us. Often times this desire is not explicitly expressed, but our experience allows us to realize we are being flirted with. Now, someone not used to American dating experiences, like a foreigner, might not recognize the signs and hints that indicate that someone in our country wants to hook up with them. It's not the greatest analogy in the world, but I'm trying to offer a perspective you can appreciate. Black people are just better at recognizing the subtleties of racism, in most cases, because they have historically been the targets of it.

___________

Let's deal with the first half of your post first. I'm talking about
Zimmerman since you brought up the media making that a race issue.
Without going over too much of what I have already said, blacks already
recognized it as a race issue before the mainstream media got on it.
Hate to break it to you, but this was already an issue with black people
before Rev. Sharpton got on it. Despite what you may have been led to
believe, racism and other issues isn't just some "liberal dribble" that
the NAACP, Revs. Jackson and Sharpton, or the media have put into our
heads. The first time you hear about these issues may be through those
outlets, but like I said the reality is that's not a front burner issue
for you. Why do you say "Hispanic guy (with a black great-grandfather),"
yet neglect to mention his white lineage? The police report even
identifies him as white. This isn't me having a come down on white
people fest, but there is a certain reality when it comes to attitudes
of racial superiority in this country. You hit on a bit of it yourself.
White is at one end of the spectrum, and black is at another.
Overwhelmingly, groups have found it more beneficial to affiliate as
close to white as possible while dreading being cast as black. Believe
it or not this even applies within the black race.
"And if any crime of a white against a black involves "race", then what
about the vast number of black-on-white crimes? Are they "race related",
too???"
Did I say any crime? There you go running your mouth instead of
listening. I said blacks recognized the signs of racism in the Zimmerman
case, as it is a scenario that has been experienced. As for
black-on-white crimes, I don't think you want to get into a numbers game
because history is not on your side. As for them being race related, of
course some of them are going to be.
"And my 'experience as a white male' in this country involved growing up
poor on a small farm in Alabama and then entering the military at 17 and
serving my country for the next 26 years around the world.
Is that
evidence of 'white privilege' or whatever racist liberal dribble that
left-wingers think white males are ALL magically are given at birth?"
There you go doing exactly what I cautioned you not to do: Getting mad
and talking out your rear end. Let me tell you something, I grew up poor
and didn't have a small farm to do it on. You're a vet? So am I, so go
pat your own back. I've never done drugs, never sold drugs, and haven't
had any trouble with the law. The stuff I'm telling you isn't some
excuse I'm making for myself. I don't need any excuses, because I'm
living well. There's nothing to excuse. What I'm telling you, I have the
experience to speak on. I made it. I don't have anything to personally
gain by telling it like it is. It is what it is. You don't have the experience to speak on it like the expert you want to come off as. I don't care how many "friends" you talk to. You haven't lived it. If this bothers you so much, why are you trolling a black oriented news site? If you're going to be here do yourself a favor: Stop being so quick to talk and try listening. You might learn something in your remaining years.
