New Updates.

Right now, the Bahamas is experiencing a humanitarian crisis. Many people have started to run out of water. Many neighborhoods have been filled with water completely. Some people survived only by cutting down their roofs in the top of their homes. Humanitarian aid is always important. Now, Walmart is set to limit ammunition sales after the recent mass shootings in Texas, Ohio, California, and in other places of America. The NRA has of course criticized the decision. The NRA lobbyists are against the overwhelming majority of Americans want, which is federal background checks and other commonsense gun reforms. It is important to note that the NRA originally believe in gun control until the late the 1970's with the far right wing coup of the organization.. Defending the Second Amendment has nothing to do with allow people to own any gun at any circumstance, even criminals. It is also important to acknowledge the unsung heroes who improved American society. We must reject the 2 extreme views of either every American being irredeemable or the other extreme view that view all facets of America as perfect. America at its greatest is when it self reflects and uses the revolutionary power of the working class, the poor, the oppressed, etc. in unity to combat oligarchy, militarism, and injustice. We want liberation for the human race without apology.

In life, we have to praise our scholars. It's fine to love our musicians, athletes, artists, and so forth. Also, we have to realize that our scholars need support and appreciation too. They sacrifice tons of hours to develop detailed studies, books, speeches, and other modes of information. Our history is made up of complex factors that deal with social factors, economic factors, and other complex parts of our environment. Research matters as the more research is found, the more solutions can exist to address lead filled water, housing issues, and other situations of human existence. One great, modern scholar is Harriet Washington. She has wrote many books that are relevant in our community. She was born in New Jersey. Her famous book is called Medical Apartheid. It was published in 2007, and it details the accurate story of unwarranted, unjust experimentation against African Americans by extremists. She won the 2007 National Book Critics Circle Award for Nonfiction for that book.

She graduated from the University of Rochester and Columbia University. Harriet Washington continues to work, speak to people, and lives in Manhattan today. Recently, she spoke out many environmental issues like the Newark water crisis. I do know about her wisdom. Wisdom is not just about remembering words or concepts. It is about applying what you know in improving the world greatly. For example, when we know about health issues and form plans to advance healthy foods plus water, lives can be saved. It is about seeing that your life has purpose and the acts of us does influence others. That is why we have to make sure that our actions are bounded under integrity and mutual compassion. We want justice.

The Hurricane Dorian is still traveling extremely slowly along the Atlantic Ocean. As of Dorian, at least 5 Bahamian human begins have died tragically. There are mandatory evacuations issued for nine counties along the southern Florida coast and 7 counties issuing voluntary evacuations. Similar evacuations have existed in Georgia and South Carolina too. Dorian is the most devastating hurricane involving the Caribbean in modern history. Its peak winds of 185 mph days ago is very serious. It's total strength and wind speed has declined. The poor and working class populations of the Bahamas have been impacted the most by the storm. It is unpredictable in its movements as well. Many of us African Americans have ancestors from the Bahamas. People know about the dangers of flooding and storm surge. Storm surge can damage homes, trees, and human lives. Much of Florida has escaped a direct hit from Dorian. Yet, over 13,000 homes have been destroyed by this powerful storm in the Bahamas. It will reach North Carolina soon.

Rev. William A. Barber is one of the most active progressive religious leaders in America. He has debated many conservatives on theology and political policies. He supports the new Poor People's Campaign. This campaign wants to end poverty, eliminate systematic racism, end militarism, end ecological devastation, and end far right religious extremism. These aims are aims that I believe in. As I get older, I am more strident in outlining these views than years ago. Even when you look at Isaiah, he spoke out in favor of justice. Jesus supported the poor and the mistreated. Jeremiah spoke boldly about being against injustice. Daniel resisted oppressive authority. The time of Jubilee was an outright policy of a radical redistribution of economic and political power. Therefore, religious stories are filled with champions of justice. A lot of people don't know that Yeshua ben Yoseph was once a refugee. He escaped to Egypt and came back into Israel because of Roman occupation. Now, the purpose of spirituality isn't about suppressing legitimate human rights. It is about showing lessons about life and integrity, so people can do better. The essence of true religious values is about the Golden Rule. We always should be treated as we would like to be treated. The Preamble is clear that the government ought to exist to promote the general welfare of society. Using tax payer dollars to help the poor and other people isn't about theft. The Constitution is clear that Congress can pass laws in dealing with taxation and infrastructure building (in Article I, Section 8). Promoting the general welfare precisely means that health care should be expanded, compassion to immigrants ought to transpire, and black people should existed free from oppression. That is our goal, and we will walk in this journey of life in favor of justice for all.
