Remembering Toni Morrison and Other Information.

Some sad, shocking news is that the genius Toni Morrison passed away recently at the age of 88. Her radiance shined brightly in terms of her wisdom, literary acuity, and her sense of undying love for black people. For decades, she not only won awards for being a great writer. She personified the excellence of American literature. Her genius relies on her details, the emotions that she invoked in her writings, and her gift of showing the world how black life really is all about. Black life deals with the diversity of experiences from joy to pain, but it is also about the resiliency of our ancestors and the beauty of our souls. She wrote Beloved, Jazz, and Paradise. She earned the Nobel Peace Prize for Literature. She was the first black woman of any nationality to have that honor. Truly, Toni Morrison was one of the greatest authors in human history.  She mastered the art of expressing language, and she gave advice to the younger generation in their quests for happiness and fulfillment. She was always conscious and woke.
Rest in Power Sister Toni Morrison.

One of the biggest lies that gun extremists say is that since the heroic Black Panthers owned guns (and monitored the streets with them), then we should own every gun known to humanity at any circumstance. That lie is refuted by many facts. The racist anti-gun laws back in the day had one intention. That was to promote discrimination against black Americans who desired self-defense. Those unjust restrictions revolved around handguns, shotguns, and other tools (not bazookas, machine guns, or other weapons of war). The Black Panthers trained their members in gun ownership before they were allowed to carry then. The Black Panthers didn't randomly allowed anyone to own a weapon. Today, there is no gun training for those who want to have an assault weapon. Any citizen now can theoretically own an assault weapon in America by fiat. That didn't exist between 1994 and 2004 when the assault weapons ban existed in the United States of America. The Black Panthers, the Deacons of Defense, and other heroes used guns solely for self-defense not to massacre dozens of innocent human life. Black people should never face discrimination involving gun ownership. Yet, no one should view a gun as superior to human life. Therefore, it is a lie that the Second Amendment is an absolute right for anyone to own any gun at any circumstance without regulations.

When you drive a car, you obey regulations. When you fly a plane (or sit down in a plane. I have been on planes before in real life), you are bound under regulations. When you cut grass or work in a job, you are regulated on what you can or cannot do. Therefore, reasonable safety regulations involving guns are not only morally right, but it is the right thing to do. Regulations being reasonable has nothing to do with allowing the government to have a monopoly of power. The people should control the government as the government is established by the people and it should function for the people. It is about making sure there is accountability and safety in our communities. Promoting regulations is not about banning everyone from owning a gun. There should be self-defense, but we are adamantly opposed to racist supremacists using weapons to violently harm innocent people.

Our community and others have told the world that we have an epidemic of white supremacist terrorism in America. Now, we witness record increase of hate groups and massive mass shootings or massacres in the USA. America is the only industrialized nation on Earth with this level of massacres. It is more than about mental health since mental health issues are global, and most people with mental health issues aren't mass murderers. It has to do with the availability of weapons of war and the epidemic of white nationalist, anti-immigrant hate-filled rhetoric. The President today hypocritically talks about condemning white supremacy and hate, but in recent rallies laughed at someone calling for the shooting of migrants. Trump has called immigrants "invaders" and he disparaged Baltimore, 4 Congresswomen of color, and Elijah Cummings. There is the double standards where racists falsely blame every black person for intraracial violence, but minimize the murders done by white racist terrorists. Trump has demonized migrants and executed the policy of the separation of families (and allows unsanitary facilities). Trump allowed called black women like Maxine Waters as having low intelligence, which is a racist statement. The people of El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio have shown courage, insights, and a will to promote solutions.

He has gone out of his way to agitate violence and bigotry, then he throws his hands up when a massacre occurs. It is evil for anyone to dehumanize black people, Hispanic people, or any people. The NRA notoriously lies and fails to realize that the Second Amendment is never an absolute right. It is a regulated right as proven by the Supreme Court decision. Action should be done. This action isn't about token measures in dealing with video games. It is about federal action to have federal background checks, to go ban civilian ownership of assault weapons, to invest in mental health resources, and to utilize other bold measures to end racial hatred in our land. It can be done, since history teaches us that monumental changes have transpired to make America more progressive.
