Early May 2025 Historic News.

This time is the 80th year anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe or VE (Victory in Europe) Day. The more things change, the more they stay the same is the truism that have to deal with in 2025 (which is the quarter century mark of this 21st century). I have been blessed to live through both the 20th century and the 21st century. So, people like us have unique insights in this changing world. Our ancestors and relatives defeated fascism 80 years ago. Today, we still are fighting the resurgence of global war and fascism. I am an older Millennial who has seen a lot of things. Now, the babies who are 25 years old and younger are setting up their own legacies as Zoomers, Generation Alpha, etc. The Nazis signed and order of surrender in Berlin on the night of May 8-9, 1945 as Berlin was in ruins. The Red Army liberated many concentration camps and saw the unspeakable horrors of the Holocaust. Almost 100 million people died in WWII. The Nazis killed 6 million Jewish people in the Holocaust and 27 million Soviet citizens. Also, there were the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki done by American imperialism. We acknowledge also the Allied heroes who are Americans and other nationalities who liberated multiple continents from fascist tyranny too. We have a global conflict found in Ukraine, started by a Russian invasion that killed or wounded over 1 million people. We have military clashes in India and in Pakistan. Indian forces struck targets in Kashmir and Pakistan. We have America and China debating over Taiwan. We have the imperialist Trump desiring to annex Canada, Greenland, the Panama Canal, and Gaza. We have Israeli TV producer, Elad Barashi, who called for the Shoah (or Holocaust) against Palestinians in Gaza, which is sick. We have the fascist Afd party in Germany driving up military spending in Germany. So, we are in a precipice of global war for real in a few years unless righteous people use solutions to stop this madness.

There is a conflict between Pakistan and India. Since the partition back in 1947, India (which is a mostly Hindu nation) and Pakistan (which is a mostly Muslim nation) have had conflicts spanning a long time. Both nations are nuclear powers. India has accused Pakistan of being responsible for the terrorist attack in Indian held Kashmir. Then, the supremacist, reactionary Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) government made retaliatory acts targeting Pakistan. These acts are the expulsion of all Pakistani nationals in India, with a small group of diplomats remaining, and the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty. Indian PM Narendra Modi (who is very controversial) said that he wants India to break the backs of the masters of terror. Both sides have exchanged gun and artillery fire across the Line of Control (LOC) that demarcates Indian held Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) from Pakistani-controlled Azad Kashmir.

Some shocking news is that Smokey Robinson is accused of sexual assault by four women. Smokey Robinson is an icon of music, especially in Motown, for songs and songwriting. His song of the Agony and the Ecstasy represented his complex legacy. I will wait to see if he is innocent or guilty. Yet, one thing is true. We oppose rape and sexual abuse period. Consent matters, and all people must have consent before any romantic interactions. Also, people need to realize that moral conduct is paramount in authentic living. You don't have to embrace respectability politics and be too uptight socially, but we should embrace moral boundaries. Women and all people respect a man who has moral boundaries, who has integrity, and who has the maturity to deal with social mores. We want to truth to come out either way. Two things are true. Black people are scrutinized more than any other people in human history, but rape is an epidemic that must be eradicated too. So, we want the truth, and we desire justice for all.

Trump desiring to send migrants to Libya is wrong, extremist, and filled with evil. Amnesty International said that migrants in Libya experience sexual abuse, slavery, and torture. Secretary Noem refused to answer the question about whether human beings on American soil are entitled to due process of the law. That question was asked by Congresswoman Underwood. That question is easy. The answer is of course, yes, all people on American soil are entitled to due process of law. A federal judge said that imminent removals to Libya would clearly violate the court order. Trump is trying to dehumanize migrants and immigrants in a vicious manner. Dehumanizing asylum seekers, migrants, and other people is blatantly wicked and against the Golden Rule. The GOP is complicit in anti-immigrant rhetoric. This rhetoric is beyond racist and xenophobic. It's demonic. It takes a sadistic mind to deport American citizens, and it takes a really perverted person to deny due process to people and place people in a prison camp in El Salvador unjustly. Trump has even sent American citizens outside of America without due process, and Trump refused to say that it is his job to defend and uphold the U.S. Constitution. Trump is a despicable fascist (who has intimidated some giant law firms from doing pro-bono immigration cases, according to the New York Times) who wants migrants to go to gulags outside of America. Silence is complicity on this issue. If Trump can do this to others, he will try to do it to you. 80 years after my ancestors and relatives (who fought in Normandy like Leslie Goffigon and other theaters of WWII in real life. I have tons of blood relatives in WWII).

There is a new Pope chosen. He is Robert Francis Prevost of Chicago. So, he was the first Pope who was born in the United States of America. It represents a new era of the history of the Vatican. His Papal name is Leo XIV. He gave his first public remarks since taking over the Roman Catholic Church. There is about 1.4 billion Roman Catholics on Earth. He is younger, being 69 years old. He is a member of the Order of St. Augustine and has been one of the allies of Pope Francis. The question is if this new Pope would go into a progressive direction like Pope Francis or a more conservative direction like John Paul II. He or Pope Leo XIV was ordained in 1982 at 27. The College of Cardinals chose him with about 252 cardinals. Also, we are reminded of many truths. The New Testament is clear that there is one mediator between God the  Father and man (who is Jesus Christ), there is a priesthood among all believers, and only God can forgive sins.
