Veterans' Day is very important, not just to us Americans but to many people of the world. A lot of people underestimate the contributions of tons of veterans in the Armed Forces. For example, the late veterans of Medgar Evers (who fought on Normandy during WWII to help defeat the Axis Powers' evil fascism) and Jackie Robinson fought for human rights. Many veterans have worked all of the time to help fellow veterans with mental health services, physical fitness, spirituality, and other important aspects of human existence. Many veterans work as a team to support each other, to hold each other accountable, and to defend liberty. Tons of veterans fought long and hard to defend democracy, like the Union veterans of the American Civil War, who helped to end the Confederacy. We know of the veterans involved in the Bonus March back in the day who desire economic compensation and economic justice. Also, veterans today have protested in the No Kings rallies for justice, have been involved in serving the community in many positive ways, and have supported their own families. Many veterans have saved tons of human lives from natural disasters back then and now. We want to support family, community, fidelity to integrity, hope, and action to improve our land. Commemoration of veterans is paramount, and we have to always be reminded that veterans of every color and background made long-lasting achievements to benefit us all, from social activism to education. Therefore, we thank the veterans for their service.
Trump has threatened to fire unpaid air traffic controllers to get back to work or face consequences. These air traffic controllers have no choice but to work in Uber and other second jobs to feed their families. Controllers have been forced to work six days a week, 10 hours a day, without pay. Trump wants all air traffic controllers to get back to work or have their pay substantially docked. These words from Trump are overtly wrong as to demonize workers who are working now without any wages. While the White House wants a new ballroom costing many millions of dollars, we see starving 42 million Americans who rely on food assistance from SNAP to survive. Many deceived Evangelicals compare Trump to Cyrus. Trump is not Cyrus. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has ordered airlines to reduce domestic flights at 40 major U.S. airports, raising to 10 percent cuts this week, due to staffing shortages.
The shutdown seems to be ending soon. Many progressives have a legitimate right to be upset at how 8 Senate Democrats supported a motion to try to end the shutdown without even extending the subsidies for health care. We know that Trump will not support a rule that extends subsidies for Americans. This action is a compromise to Trump and a capitulation to the Republican administration who oversaw suffering among SNAP recipients, escalates war against Venezuela with an aircraft carrier near Venezuela (and its illegal murder of people in the Caribbean without due process of law), Trump's pardoning of criminals who were found guilty of trying to overthrow the 2020 election, and the fascist act of using ICE to harass our communities in urban centers of America. People on November 4, 2025, didn't vote for a compromise with a tyrant who wants to do what he wants. We are opposed to compromising with Wall Street and corporate interests that want laissez-faire capitalism to rule America and the world. Polls show that most of the public blame Trump and the Republicans for the shutdown, as Republicans control all three branches of government. The bill doesn't end the budget deadlock, but it just authorizes the Trump administration to spend money through January 30, 2026. The goal of the elites has been the same for millennia. They want to increase billionaires' power to control banks and corporations and to promote monopolies over societies, even over publicly owned resources. They desire to exploit the wonder and beauty of religion and spirituality to promote oppressive theocracies (which is against true religion and the Golden Rule), they want human rights to be suppressed, and privilege maintained among the super wealthy without justice for all.
There is a new, controversial deal among moderate Democrats and Republicans of the Senate. This is a compromise funding package to reopen the government. Trump supports the Senate federal funding deal. The deal is that the open will open while there will be a future vote on extending the Affordable Care subsidies. The problem is that there is no guarantee if those subsidies will be passed by Congress as a high percentage of Republicans oppose subsidies. That is why House Speaker Mike Johnson said that he would not guarantee a vote on the Affordable Care Act subsidies desiring the House to find a consensus on a proposal. Even Senator Warner of Virginia opposed the plan as he said that he doesn't go far enough to fund health care for Americans. Many progressives including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries oppose the spending bill advanced in the Senate. Some want Schumer to resign. This comes as aircraft delays and cuts continue, SNAP benefits are gone, and we see economic uncertainly.
The notorious lie that Trump is not a racist has been exposed for years. The Trump administration removed a memorial dedicated to black American soldiers who died in World War II. This came on the eve of Veterans' Day, showing the hostility toward black history and culture. This is racism. These plaques just commemorated African American soldiers fighting Nazi Germany in Europe. They were gone from a U.S. military cemetery in the Netherlands. About 1 million black American soldiers fought in Europe during World War II. More than 8,200 Americans were buried at the Netherlands American Cemetery in the southern village of Margraten, just east of the city of Maastricht. About 174 African American soldiers are buried or memorialized at Margraten, according to the Dutch research project, the Black Liberators. It's the only U.S. military cemetery in the country. Two informational panels about African American soldiers in WWIII were taken down in the cemetery's visitors' center. No one should tell me that Trump isn't trying to whitewash history. Many of my relatives were WWII veterans and fought in Normandy in 1944. Black men and Black women were veterans of WWII. Therefore, the Trump administration has declared war on black identity by its policies, from stripping black history from federal websites to trying to whitewash slavery. Trump is the same person who doesn't think he will enter Heaven, doesn't ask God for forgiveness, mocks communion, and says that the 2020 election was stolen. These are his words. Trump is the one who is allowing families to starve by restricting SNAP benefits from them in a grotesque way. So, we will defend black history and culture forever and ever.
