Political News.

Virginia state Senator L. Louise Lucas was charged on October 22, 2026, by federal prosecutors in a five-count indictment accusing her of leading a criminal marijuana and money laundering enterprise called Lucas Enterprise. To be clear, these charges are serious federal charges. Lucas is now 82 years old. She surrendered to authorities to face charges on Thursday. The Justice Department has accused Lucas of these charges. She was charged with a half-dozen other people, including her daughters. She was in a Norfolk, Virginia, courtroom. It is no secret that L. Louise Lucas is a public critic of the authoritarian bigot Donald Trump. Lucas gave a statement that she will not be intimidated or back down. Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel traveled to Norfolk, Virginia for a news conference announcing the charges. Lucas has been a proponent of marijuana legalization in Virginia. Virginia allows the possession of marijuana for adults over 21, but recreational marijuana sales remain unlawful in Virginia. This will end by July 1, 2027. Like always, Lucas has the right to defend herself, and we will see what the truth is along with due process. The Trump administration has charged former FBI Director James Comey over an IG post too.

Some breaking news is that 66 percent of American adults support having a national single-payer health care plan or Medicare for All. This is higher than 53 percent in 2020. Back in the 1990s, talk of single payer health care was taboo in American society. That day is over. The majority of Democrats and Independents support this plan. This was a September 2026 KFF Health Tracking Poll. Back then, private insurance companies have run amok with high prices, secret policies, and human exploitation. These actions have gone on today. That is why we don't need the privatization of health care status quo, because health is a human right, not a privilege for a select group of human beings. The ACA was a step in the right direction back when it was originally created. Yet, we live in a new time when GOP members have cut Medicaid for many people nationwide. We have higher premiums in many locations, and people want change. Regardless if one believes in Medicare for all or not, we need real, revolutionary changes in our health care to make it universal for all people. There must be expanded health care coverage, a system where health care disparities are eliminated, and a program to allow people to fight against health care premium hikes.

The Republican nominee, Vivek Ramaswamy, has been running a $4 million campaign ad for the 2026 Ohio gubernatorial election featuring his Democratic opponent Amy Action's estranged mother, Donna Arthur, which has drawn widespread bipartisan backlash and defense from Vice President J.D. Vance. The ad is wrong because it tries to invoke Amy Action's estranged mother to deny Action's account of her own childhood. There is no justification of the ad from Vivek. Ads should be about comparing and contrasting candidates on the issues, without going on with personal dehumanization of a candidate. The ad called Action, a victim of abuse, a liar. This is beyond sick and shows the desperation of many in the GOP who desire power over principle. The GOP can't run on the economy, on foreign policy, on food assistance (which Trump has cut food assistance and much of the social safety net), and on other important issues. Trump has shown authoritarianism, and Vivek Ramaswamy represents the agenda of hatred, hypocrisy, and extremism that we must oppose completely.

Trump hates a multicultural, diverse America, because he hates America, period. America is filled with people from diverse backgrounds, and that diversity makes this nation stronger.  Some people now want to boycott Hidden Colors 6 as it is promoted by the xenophobic Tariq Nasheed. I agree with them, because it is obvious that ADOS and FBA movements are cultic, anti-black unity movements. There are many reasons for this. Both movements bash Pan-African unity to promote an exclusive delineation for us African Americans. It is a historical fact that black Africans resisted slavery in the revolt at San Miguel de Gualdape in 1526. They claim to support reparations, but they offer no long-term solution on how reparations are to be implemented. I agree with reparations for black Americans, but I don't believe in scapegoating black immigrants as a means in doing so. Also, many members of FBA and ADOS blame black immigrants for the suffering of black Americans, when the cause of black injustice is a systematic structure of injustice from the one percent, not all immigrants. Both groups have many members who are colorists, self-hating (even denying DNA evidence documenting African genetic ancestry), and denigrate Africa constantly in a treasonous fashion. Both groups directly or indirectly accept a near idolization of American society, viewing our ancestors being victims of slavery as an excuse to glory in America in near worship. Not everything in America is evil, but we don't need American imperialism or American colonialism. Both groups promote division among the black African Diaspora, which is a detriment to black empowerment, environmental justice, and other real issues.
