Afghanistan and Other Issues.

Today, Biden has just finished talking about Afghanistan. Right now, it would be impossible to release everyone out of Afghanistan (who are Americans and Afghanis who want to leave too) by the date of August 31, 2020. The war hawks are hypocritical for many reasons. They claim that they want Afghanistan to be free, but a permanent occupied Afghanistan by Western forces is never freedom. They claim to oppose the Taliban (which is a terrorist group that hates freedom including women), but they are silent on the Western war crimes that have taken place in Afghanistan for almost 20 years now. In fact, American intervention in Afghanistan goes back since the late 1970's. They want us to forget that the Reagan administration supported and funded the mujaheedin. Many people in the corporate media are angry at Biden, but the corporate media in large measure promoted the Iraq War that cost tons of lives (both Americans and Iraqis). I will say that the Biden administration should have done a better job in executing an exit strategy. He should have done an exit plan based on many phases allowing a final change for the Afghanistan government to be truly independent. Trump and Miller used xenophobic operatives to gut the State Department via processing program which was wrong. We reject the Taliban and the foreign policy war hawks who want foreign aggression, occupation, and endless war. You can't make a permanent U.S. occupation of a sovereign country. I do believe that the deadline for evacuation should be extended.

The violence among the Proud Boys and anti-fascist groups in the city of Portland, Oregon outlines the serious issue of far right extremism. We have a long history in America in dealing with political polarization and tons of tensions. For example, the U.S. Civil War was between the North and the South. The violence took place in Portland which is home to many protests and political debates. The Proud Boys is a nefarious hate group that bashes women, bashes black people, and supports the racist Donald Trump. That is very much clear to ascertain and state. We have to use our discernment and live peaceful lives. We should never take the bait. We have to keep our eyes open build in our communities, and defend our human rights. Right now, the FDA has officially approved of the Pfizer vaccine to combat the pandemic virus. Immediately, New York City have said that they mandate teachers and staff at NYC public schools to be vaccinated. More vaccine mandates exist nationwide. I mentioned months ago that in the near future, there will be more policies of institutions to require people to get vaccinated in order to do many functions. Many tragedies have existed as a product of people not being vaccinated. President Biden has called on companies to issue vaccine requirements.

We know that Trump and Stephen Miller sabotaged the Afghan refugee program. One former Trump official said that Miller made a xenophobic and racist remark about the refugees. Now, Biden is using a program to evacuate Americans and many Afghanistan residents out of Afghanistan. This exit plan has been hard and controversial. There have been over 37,000 people evacuated from Kabul since August 14. The Taliban wants Americans out of Afghanistan by August 31. That date is impossible to safely send people out of the nation among Americans and any Afghanistan people who want to leave. Members of the Pentagon have briefed journalists and the American people for numerous days. It would be impossible for the August 31 deadline to free any Afghanistan person to leave if they desire too. Tony Blair and Karl Rove were war hawks criticizing Biden, but they came out to promote the disastrous Iraq War. The Taliban is a regional militia. We know that right now that the Taliban threatened people and assaulted women and journalists in 2021 too. Some people are concerned about possible ISIS and more al-Qaeda fighters coming into Afghanistan. Many refugees are having background checks and other assistance.

The California recall election is unique. The GOP promote far right ideologue like Larry Elder. I remembered him from long ago when he was on the D.L. Hughley show. I first thought that Larry Elder was faking his views on TV, but he is not faking. He believes in far right views back then and today. He was an extremist then and now. He is like Abbott, Noem, and Ducey. Each believe in the myth that true government must reject progressive solutions to problems. Also, Elder is known to support Donald Trump. We know that Trump is a racist, sexist, and xenophobe. Elder lied and said that Trump isn't to be blamed for the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol when Trump said to his mob go to the Capitol and try to prevent the election results from being certified. Elder wants to end welfare, end the social safety net as we know it, abolish the minimum wage, and end corporate taxes. He does't even believe in state family leave. He minimizes the danger of second hand smoke, and he opposes mandates to save lives from the pandemic. I heard of Elder for almost 2 decades. We know of his game.

Yesterday was the Birthday of Sister Ava DuVernay, and she is 49 years old. She is world famous black American filmmaker. She has worked hard. She has directed films like Middle of Nowhere, Selma in 2014, and the documentary 13th in 2016 (about the 13th Amendment and the prison industrial complex). She was born in Long Beach, California. She grew up in Lynwood, California which is near Compton. She would travel to Selma as a child on summer vacations. This inspired her to film Selma, as her father witnessed the 1965 Selma to Montgomery marches. She graduated in 1990 from Saint Joseph High School in Lakewood. At the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), she had  a double BA major in English literature and African American studies. She was a journalist, a hip hop artist, and a scholar. She worked on short films. She did documentaries too. Her first narrative feature film was I Will Follow, which was drama starring Salli Richardson-Whitfield. Ava DuVernay grew to be one of the greatest filmmakers of our generation. DuVernay is part of the new generation of black filmmakers who are unapologetic in their Blackness and show universal messages at the same time. She was involved in the film of A Wrinkle in Time in 2018. She continues to work. Her upcoming work of Colin in Black and White is to come on Netflix in October of 2021. She is our legend of this time. I wish Sister Ava DuVernay more Blessings.
