Far right extremists Tucker Carlson and Ted Cruz debated about the Iran conflict. Cruz doesn't know how many people are in Iran when he is a Senator. It is ironic that Ted Cruz is so hawkish on Iran when he doesn't know the size of the population of Iran, its complex history, its ethnic groups, and other important components of the Iranian nation. When you have a power of political leadership or if you are just a citizen, you have to do your research on Iran if you want to know about Iran. Trump said that he doesn't want new wars, but he is using militarism in the Middle East. Iran has 90.61 million people. Many neo-cons and far right extremists don't know the history of Iran. Back in 1953, Iran had a coup by the CIA, MI5, and the Western forces via Operation Ajax, because Mohammed Mossadegh nationalized its oil resources. Iran was overthrown by the West despite Iran being a democratic nation. Afterward, the West funded its new leader of the Shah, who was a reactionary dictator. He violated the liberties of the Iranian people until 1979. The Iranian Revolution in 1979 overthrew the Shah and replaced it with the Ayatollah. The Iranian Revolution was right to oppose the Shah, but Iran was run by a theocratic nation, headed by the Ayatollah, that again violated the rights of the people. Now, Israel used a preemptive, illegal strike against Iran harming civilians. Many Iranians wanted to deal with their nation without illegal missile strikes in their own nation. As we have made clear, we don't want American direct military strikes in Iran. We want peace for all people in the Middle Eastern region.
Former President Barack Obama warned people of a near autocratic regime in America. Barack Obama have a large platform and voice to speak his mind on issues. Today, democracy in America is under attack. We have the greatest constitutional crisis and attack on democracy since the American Civil War. There is no other way to put it. In less than one year of Trump's 2nd term, citizens have been deported without due process of law, police have used tear gas and weapons on innocent protesters plus journalists, Trump has coddled Putin (who is a dictator and war criminal), the GOP promoted a budget bill that desires tax cuts for the rich and eliminates Medicaid for 10 million Americans, and we have ICE running amok arresting Congressional leaders and violating due process. Senate Republicans desire a sweeping tax and spend bill that harms the working class and the poor. It seek to continue the Trump agenda to derive to redistribute wealth upwards to the billionaire oligarchy and impose austerity on the poor and vulnerable human beings. The Senate bill wants to extend and expand the 2017 Trump tax cuts that benefit wealthy corporations and the wealthiest Americans. The CBO said that the tax cuts will add almost $2.8 trillion to the federal deficit over the next decade. We must oppose Trump's fascist agenda and its agenda to harm the social safety net.
Gabbard and Hegseth is outside of Trump's inner circle on Iran. Trump said that he will make up his decision if America strikes Iran in the next two weeks. The fight for democracy is not over. We have a long way to go but right is on our side. We have many U.S. aircraft carriers in the region now. We have an emergency in American society when a tyrant in the White House allowing tanks in the cities of America, Marines in Los Angeles illegally being used by Trump, and Trump allowing Congressional leaders being unjustly arrested. You also have far right people using political assassinations against innocent Democratic leaders. We have to dare to have freedom with vigor and zeal. That is what we are born to do. Our historical legacy as Americans is that real Americans (among every color and background) oppose monarchy. We don't want kings using the executive branch to dictate every detail of our lives. We desire no war in Iran, we desire a strong social safety net (with protections and strengthening of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid), economic justice, environmental justice, liberty and justice for all, equality for all, and an end to unfair tariffs that harm workers and consumers in America plus worldwide. Real Americans don't agree with xenophobia as all human beings are entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, regardless of one's nationality or immigration status.
There is a new study about marijuana. This study says that marijuana use dramatically increases the risk of dying from heart attacks and stroke. This study is very large. This analysis involved a pooled medical data involving 200 million people mostly between the ages of 19 and 59. The senior author of the study is from Emilie Jouanjus, an associate professor of pharmacology at the University of Toulouse, France. Many people hospitalized according to Jouanjus are people with no history of cardiovascular disorder of cardiovascular risk factors. This study said that compared to nonusers, those who used cannabis had a 29 percent higher risk for heart attacks and a 20 percent higher risk for stroke. The study was published in the journal of Heart. This is a very large study to research the link between marijuana and heart disease according to pediatrician Dr. Lynn Silver, a clinical professor of epidemiology and biostatistics at University of California, San Francisco. This comes after we already know that smoking tobacco is a well known cause of heart disease. The smoke and chemicals in tobacco damage blood vessels and increase clotting, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Beth Cohen, professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, told CNN that when you smoke cannabis or burn something, toxic compounds or carcinogens can be harmful to health. Edibles may play a role in heart disease according to a May 2025 study, especially edibles with THC. Potent cannabis usage can increase the risk of psychosis and developing schizophrenia. I don't agree with the War on Drugs on moral and civil liberty grounds, but truth is truth. Therefore, we have to be wise to know the truth.
On this time of Juneteenth in 2025, we acknowledge many things in our black community in America that authentically described hallowed truths. We realize that our lives are living, breathing miracles literally. Our black ancestors experienced massive atrocities including the most genocidal, brutal form of slavery in human history called the Maafa. During the Maafa from the 1400s to the 1800s, our black ancestors were terrorized, stripped of our original names, raped, murdered, families were split up, and our cultures were uprooted and destroyed. Yet, we remain here through the pain and turmoil. We remain here to give the world gifts of resiliency, of creativity (like the genius of jazz musician John Coltraine, the passion of Malcolm X, the leadership of Ella Baker, the funk from Mother's Finest, the ingenuity of Augusta Savage, and the soul from Aretha Franklin), of invention, of courage, and being a shining light of the power of the human spirit and God's strength. Also, one existential truth is that BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL. There is nothing wrong with our skin color being black shining like gold, with our noses, with our lives, with our vocal notations (or how we speak), and our rhythm. We make the world move with our pristine, sacrosanct presence. Glorious Black joy is always majestic and priceless. Dancing, speaking, expressing joy, expressing STEM, constantly reinventing concepts, and developing our own diverse interests have always centered around a passionate, total love of black excellence. Another lesson in life is that heroism can be unsung. Many of our greatest heroes may not be known to the general public globally, but they are just as valuable as the most famous of our people. For example, Gerald Fothergill earned an honorary high school diploma 57 years after he unjustly expelled for honoring the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Jennie Joseph was the first black woman in America to own a nationally accredited midwifery school, and Nigerian American Evelyn Uba passed the bar exam after 9 years of study to be licensed attorney to help the community via criminal defense. Juneteenth came about when black people in Texas celebrated being free from the tyrannical bondage of slavery by June 1865 (being announced by Union soldiers) when American Civil War was over. We use this time to celebrate a victory after the American Civil War, express our joy, celebrate our Blackness, and to be reminded that we must continue in this long journey for freedom for black people globally.
Happy Juneteenth
