Jack Smith attended a meeting at the Department of Justice with Trump lawyers. One employee at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence drained the resort's swimming pool. The person flooded a room where computer servers containing surveillance video logs were kept back in last October. It is not clear if the room was flooded intentionally or by mistake. The federal prosecutors find this reality very suspicious. The incident came roughly two months after the FBI retrieved hundreds of classified documents from the Florida home. Many prosecutors may have a possible obstruction conspiracy case. Last summer, agents first subpoenaed the Trump Organization for the Mar-a-Lago surveillance footage. At least 2 dozen people (like Mar-a-Lago resort staff and members of Trump's inner circle at the Florida estate) have been subpoenaed to testify in front of the federal grand jury investigating Trump's handling of classified documents and possible obstruction of justice.
The New York Times reported that former White House top aide Mark Meadows has testified in the Department of Justice Trump probe. Jack Smith continues with the grand jury investigation. The investigation is secret. Jack Smith is part of the Special Counsel, and he has the power to bring a case to the grand jury. The situation is what type of information is giving involving the 2 major investigations. Mark Meadows is one of Trump's closest allies who wanted to steal the 2020 election. During the end of the corrupt Trump President, Mark Meadows was the Chief of Staff who worked around the clock in trying to keep Trump in power beyond January 20th, 2021. He failed. Meadows's lawyer said that Mark Meadows told the truth in his testimony to the DOJ. The investigations are dealing with the overthrowing the government investigation and the documents investigation. Federal prosecutors are using a second grand jury in Florida as part of the Trump classified documents probe. A witness is expected to appear on Wednesday at the federal courthouse in Miami as the investigation continues.
The View had a recent discussion between Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina and the View. The View host Sonny Hostin disagreed with Tim Scott's views on race which she has every right to do. Tim Scott's big mistake is to deny the existence of systematic racism. Systematic racism is documented by studies, stories, and other documented evidence involving housing, education, health, the criminal justice system, the environment, and other spheres of everyday life in America including the world. Anti-black racism is in epidemic levels globally, not just in America. Tim Scott made the argument that since progress is being made in America involving black Americans, then he is not the exception but the rule of black progress in America. Hostin disagreed saying that she, Whoopi, and Tim Scott are the exceptions not the rule. Tim Scott is right that we should have hope that black Americans can achieve mighty and great things, and progress has existed in America. Tim Scott is wrong to downplay the huge challenges that black Americans still face in America from health disparities to lax investments in poorer black communities. Scott is wrong to support Trump in 2016 and in 2020. Tim Scott is more cordial and nicer than DeSantis, but even a cordial man can be wrong on certain issues. We have a very long way to go to see black Americans to have true justice that we rightfully deserve.
2023 is the year when the discussion and debate of AI or Artificial Intelligence has increased into another level. Today, AI has evolved from an experimental project into a large reality. Now, AI can write papers, create songs from scratch, and starting to detect brain wave motions. Many scientists and researchers are afraid that AI may harm and ruin human civilization as we know it. Some fear that the threat of AI is equivalent to nuclear technology. There is ChatGPT that can create paper and other items. We are in the beginning stages of AI technology. We don't know what the complete future holds now. Yet, the technology is out in the world now. The best thing to do is to regulate it, so evil people won't exploit it for nefarious purposes. The growth of artificial intelligence has been compared to the invention of the printing press or the invention of the airplane. Companies are begging literally Congress to pass federal legislation to regulate AI. Time will tell what will happen.
There is the horrific news about the train disaster crash in India. This was the deadliest train crash in India in more than 25 years. The disaster killed almost 300 passengers and injured more than 1,000 human beings. It horrified the world. It exposes the problems of infrastructure as the nation of India is controlled by the chauvinist Narendra Modi and his capitalist government. The trains collided in the Balsore district of the eastern Indian state of Odisha last Friday night. They were high speed passenger trains moving in opposite directions. Prime Minister Modi said that he had distress over the accident. He wants those responsible for the tragedy to be held accountable. The crash scene was very graphic with bodies dismembered. Local residents and rescuers tried to free hundreds of people tapped in the rail cars. Such crashes existed before like the crash in 1995 when 358 people were killed in a collision between Purushottam Express and the Kalinidi Express near Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh in northern India. The situation is that train anti-collision systems and advanced technologies are not implemented in many trains.
