This comes during the summer surge of COVID-19 in 2024. This means that 1 in 38 Americans are infected with the virus according to a new report from Pandemic Mitigation Collaborative (PMC). The lesson here is that we can't be naive about this illness. We don't want unending mass infection, death, and debilitation with Long COVID. Long COVID-19 can possibly last for years and decades if no solution is enacted to help human beings with it. The PLMC model has estimated that Americans have now had COVID-19 on average 3.3 times. According to one study, people who self-report having had 3 infections have a 40 percent chance of developing Long COVID-19. This estimate comes on the heels of the latest groundbreaking study led by Dr. Ziyad Al-Aly, which estimated that by the end of last year over 400 million people were suffering from Long COVID-19 globally.
The popularity of Kamala Harris's Presidential campaign continues. This comes 250 years after the first organized resistance to British rule in North America took place in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. The King George III rule ended by 1783. Recently, a NY State judge just ruled RFK Jr. falsely declared his residence in New York and kicked him off the ballot there. He might appeal. Ukraine is fighting in the Kursk region. Also, a swarm of Ukrainian drones is striking Moscow and an airfield near it. I don't agree with Ukraine attacking Russian territories, but I agree with the Ukrainians in trying to resist the Russian invasion of Ukrainian lands. I understand where they are coming from. Democracy Now said that a secretive Christian nationalist network is trying to purge voters in battleground states. More Republicans are endorsing Kamala Harris for President.
The Las Vegas event reached capacity with Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. Donald Trump seemed to be so jealous that Trump believed in the myth that the crowds were made by A.I. Vance suggests that Kamala Harris and Democrats are anti-family which is silly. What is truly anti-family are those who want to cut welfare, seek to cut Social Security, eliminate free school lunch, and advocate for laws that violate fundamental human rights. New polls show Harris winning against Trump in national polling, including in battleground states. While this is going on, Elon Musk still supports Trump with disinformation. President Joe Biden has cracked down on junk fees, banned non-competes, eliminated student loan debts from millions of Americans, negotiated drug prices, expanded overtime pay, and made it easier to speak to customer service, cancel subscriptions, and get refunds. Tim Waltz has a strong record as governor of Minnesota with 2.9 percent unemployment, 68.3 percent labor force participation rate, and the 3rd best life expectancy. Prices now are even falling in airfares.
Kamala Harris had a rally about immigration in Arizona. Arizona is a border state. The myth is that Democrats are collectively for open borders. The truth is that Democrats have diverse views on immigration from those who are more strict on the border to those who are more compassionate on refugees and asylum seekers. Immigration is a complex issue. We need comprehensive solutions, and some forget that undocumented border crossings have recently gone down too. Vice President Kamala Harris wants to make a balance between border security and the humane treatment of immigrants. Harris and Walz had been to massively energetic crowds in many battleground states like Michigan, Arizona, Nevada, etc. Trump wants to give speeches to give the most negative connotations to modern-day America, and most Americans reject that interpretation of America. In fact, there are good and evil people in America. Yet, tons of Americans are fighting hard to make real change so all people in the world can have justice.
Yesterday was the Birthday of Sister Dawnn Lewis, and she is 63 years old. She is a famous and very talented actress. She was born in Brooklyn, New York City to Carl and Joyce Lewis, who are of African American and Guyanese descent. She sang music at the age of four and acted at the age of 11. At 16, she graduated from the High School of Music & Art in New York City (now called Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School). In college, she majored in musical theater with a minor in journalism, graduating with a Bachelor of Music degree cum laude, from the University of Miami in Carol Gables, Florida, in 1982. Lewis was part of the Broadway musical of The Tap Dance Kid under the name of Dawnn J. Lewis. This was done from August 1, 1985, to July 6, 1986. We know Dawnn Lewis for playing the role of Jalessa Vinson on A Different World show from 1987 to 1992. She worked with diverse people including Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Sinbad, Darryl M. Bell, Lisa Bonet, Glynn Thurman, Charnele Brown, etc. In 1992, she was on the CBS film Stompin' at the Savoy with Vanessa Williams under the direction of Debbie Allen. She was on shows like Touched by An Anel, The Parkers, Queen, K.C. Undercover, History of the Sitcom, Harlem, etc. Dawnn Lewis is known for being part of Hanging' with Mr. Cooper from 1992 to 1994. She, Holly Robinson, and the R&B quartet performed the soundtrack of the show. By 2021, Lewis was among the first honorees to be inducted into the Women Songwriters Hall of Fame.
