Analysis: Both Obama and Republican Budget Proposals Hurt the Poor and Working Class Whatever Happened to Progressive, Job-Creation Economic Policy? By Robert N. Taylor Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives have launched a mean-spirited, draconian campaign to slash up to $100 billion from the current federal budget. The cuts would come almost entirely from social programs – the ones which tend to be most beneficial to minorities and the poor.
On the chopping block are proposed cuts in community health care services, housing assistance, job training, Pell grants for low-income college students, environmental protection and community development block grants. Meanwhile, the Republicans do not want to take a single dime away from the military and the unnecessary U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. How is President Obama responding to this assault on programs which benefit the poor and the working classes? Well, Monday the administration released an outline of its 2012 budget proposals and low and behold, it wants to cut social program, too. Obama would include the military in his proposed cuts as well as increase the taxes paid by the wealthy. Nevertheless, the bulk of his proposed “savings” would also come from social programs which are currently keeping millions of Americans from falling into destitute poverty. What is going on here? A liberal Obama appears to be adopting conservative economic policies which harm the lower classes while benefitting the rich. The progressive approach to conquering the record federal budget deficit (projected to surge to $1.65 trillion this year) seems to have been completely removed from consideration. The progressive approach to battling the deficit essentially involves instituting economic policies whose primary focus is to create jobs. The underlying theory is that if millions of new jobs are created, there will soon be millions of new people paying taxes and overtime that new tax money will significantly reduce or possibly eliminate the deficit. But there is virtually no realistic talk of job-creation economic policy in Washington, D.C. today.
Conservative economic theory of reduce the size of government by slashing the money spent on social programs appears to have won the day. What the Republicans are proposing to a great degree and what Obama is proposing to a lesser degree would both hurt the poor and the struggling working classes. This slash and burn doctrine is incredibly short-sighted. The nation needs constructive jobs-based economic policy. If the business community will not create the jobs, Obama needs to become a Franklin D. Roosevelt and institute a wide range of government sponsored jobs programs. Despite revisionist historical lies to the contrary, it was Roosevelt’s jobs and government spending programs which ultimately pulled this nation out of the Great Depression. It is that type of progressive thinking that is needed now. Obama is harming the nation by essentially adopting stale, pro-rich Republican economic policy.

It has been shocking to watch

It has been shocking to watch the Liberal Left (a contradiction in terms, but one devoutly believed in by so many who don't think it through) march steadily to the Right when it suited/suits them politically. They fail to note the savage and brutal mendacity that pervades even Obama's already brutally rightwing policies. For example, when Obama spoke to business 'leaders' (read as "predators") the other day, he made it abundantly clear that he was going to turn America into their buffet. But at least he said nice things about how important education was, which no doubt his Liberal Left supporters clung to as they continued to claim that he might not be 'ideal' but, really, all in all, ISN'T HE GREAT?!
Not a week later he announces 100 billion dollar cuts to Pell Grants ...http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110213/ap_on_re_us/us_obama_pell_grants
... and somehow one knows that even this savage attack on human decency and human hope will go down surprisingly well for the Liberal Left. Think of Palin and take a big swallow Pwogs. There, that wasn't so bad, was it?
Speaking of political prisoners, when will we recognize that most prisoners should truly be considered political prisoners, in prison because of the War Against the Poor and the War on Drugs?_________________
The Old Folks Calls It 'Talking Out of Both Sides of Your Mouth'

'He{Obama} said nice things about how important education is... But Then- Not a week later he announces 100 billion dollar cuts in Pell Grants...' The Old Folks called this 'Talking out both sides of your mouth at the same time...' or 'Saying one thing but doing another...' Obama, Billary & Biden displayed this again during the Egyptian uprising... ['Mubarak is NOT a dictator... We appreciate the democratic aspirations of the Egyptian People but but we need stability because Egypt is an important ally...' etc, etc, etc...]. We saw it again in Haiti & Honduras ['We want free & fair democratic elections'] even though we helped over-through their democratically elected & contitutional presidents Aristide & Zelaya. This is par for the course in US poly-tricks. Malcolm called it 'Disguised Hypocrisy'.

Some would call it being a "lying sack of s__"

I am shocked and outraged at proposed cuts to Pell Grants, without which I would have been unable to attend college decades ago.
With cuts to Pell Grants and the "Race to the Top" bull___, it is abundantly clear that Obama is more than comfortable with, he is downright eager to usher in a two-tiered society of haves and have nots. That African Americans (not by me: Many African Americans are awake on these polytricks) can't either see this or are too cowardly to speak on this speaks volumes.
Good God what will it take for Blacks to see that Obama doesn't give a hoot about them?? Obama is going to stay focused on the White "Independent" voters (the Republican Lite crowd) all the way to the bitter end. Obama could give a sh____ about poor people, working class, Black, White, or Brown, he's only concerned about "his legacy" whatever the h___ that's suppose to be. I just finished an email "argument" with a friend who refuses to see that his is a sociopath. I explained to me friend who is no Obamabot that just because he comes across as charming and "kind" doesn't mean he isn't a sociopath.
