By John Lofton, Editor

I’ve been kicked off the “Free Republic” web site. No more posting allowed. The problem? The results of my brain scan. It revealed I had one — a definite no-no if you’re posting among the “FReepers.”

But, seriously……

Have any of you spent any time looking at the “Free Republic” web site? Yikes! If most of the folks posting on this site are what a “Free Republic” produces, then give me Communist Slavery every time. Just kidding— about the “Communist Slavery” crack. But, I’m not kidding about the “Free Republic” site.

So, why, seriously, was I dumped? Well, I posted this comment:

Vanity: Oh, No! Obama Pastor Says Something Which Makes Sense!!

“It was a horrible, shocking, unnerving experience. Reading some of the things Barack Obama’s pastor has said, I suddenly saw something with which I completely agree!! He said five days after 9/11: “We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki, and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye….” His point: Chickens were coming home to roost. I agree. We certainly committed terrorism and murder when we dropped two atomic bombs on open cities in Japan. And, as Ron Paul has said, correctly, re: 9/11: The terrorists were over here because, first, we were over there in their part of the world sticking our nose into fights none of our business. Finally, none other than God Himself tells us in Galatians 6:7: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

And I posted this comment:

Does God Damn Nations? Is He Damning America?

“Interesting question within the context of some of what Barack Obama’s pastor has said: Does God damn nations? I would say yes, of course. For example, Psalm 9:17 tells us: “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” And there are many other verses similar to this. In fact, the Bible is littered with the corpses of nations, families and individuals who turned away from God and His Law. So, is God damning America? I would say yes and the signs that He is include, just recently: 9/ll; Katrina; half of California burning down; 50 million abortions (remember that God hates hands that shed innocent blood and will avenge the shedding of such blood); rotten, corrupt immoral rulers for generations; and much more. Are all these things that are definitely NOT blessings simply unconnected coincidences with no meaning? I think not. We are one nation, under God’s wrath. And, to paraphrase a TV ad from years ago: We got God’s wrath the old-fashioned way — we earned it.”

Well, needless to say there was the proverbial “firestorm” of reaction— a reaction way too hot for “Free Republic” boss Jim Robinson to allow me to stay in his kitchen. I mean, for Robinson & Company, I had committed the unpardonable sin: I had criticized America!!!

In his email to me explaining why I had been dumped, Robinson wrote: “Sorry, in case you didn’t notice, your blame America message just wasn’t cutting it with our members, the majority of whom wholeheartedly support our Commander-in-chief, our troops and their mission. One of our moderators said enough is enough and pulled the plug.”

Oh, I noticed. Looking at the “Free Republic” site:

— I noticed that, ironically, there is no “free speech” on the “Free Republic” site if that “free speech” criticizes America.

— I noticed that America cannot be “blamed” even for what America actually did!

— I noticed the site is, again ironically, not a “Republic” but a democracy where the boss yields mindlessly and slavishly to his “members.” No thoughtful interposition here. Just follow the mob, eh, Mr. Robinson?

A few years ago, a statement was posted on the “F.R.” site by Robinson which deserves comment. The statement was responding to the criticism that the site was not fair and balanced and mistreated trolls and assorted malcontents. In response to this, Robinson replied:

“Got news for all, I’m NOT fair and balanced. I’m biased toward God, country, family, liberty and freedom and against liberalism, socialism, anarchism, wackoism, global balonyism and any other form of tyranny. Hope this helps.”

Comment: Sorry, but no one could be “biased toward God” and be so mindlessly militaristic and jingoistic as you and your site are, sir. No way. Unless, of course, the “God” you allude to is your country, right or wrong, which I fear is indeed your religion.

Robinson: “In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution and against totalitarianism, socialism, tyranny, terrorism, etc., “Free Republic” stands firmly on the side of right, i.e., the conservative side.”

Comment: See, this is what’s wrong with your typical “conservative” today— wrong priorities. Claiming to be a “Christian,” he gives lip-service to being “biased toward God.” But God and His Word are not the first standard for analysis/action. In Robinson’s case, evidently, he sees “the conservative side” as always right, always the definer of right and wrong, not God.

Robinson: “Believing that the best defense is a strong offense, we (myself and those whom I’m trying to attract to FR) support the strategy of taking the fight to the enemy as opposed to allowing the enemy the luxury of conducting their attacks on us at home on their terms and on their schedule.”

patriots_jingoism_or_death.jpg

Comment: “The enemy?” The greatest “enemies” of our country are those who claim to be “Christians”— people “biased toward God”— but they actually trust in our military strength, our “strong offense,” not God. But God says not to do this. For example (Isaiah 31:1): “Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!” And the stupidest strategy imaginable is: To fight an enemy on his territory where he knows the lay of the land and you do not; to stretch out your supply line instead of making the enemy stretch out his supply line. Lest I be misunderstood, I believe in a war of self-defense. If an attack is made on the United States, we should retaliate against those who attacked us. Iraq/Saddam did not attack us.

Robinson: “We support our military, our troops and our Commander-in-Chief and we oppose turning control of our government back over to the liberals and socialists who favor appeasement, weakness, and subserviency.”

Comment: Earth-to-Robinson: The present government, the one whose boots you lick, the one headed by George Bush, is a socialist government! Mr. Bush, whose warmongering sock puppet you are, has given us the most socialistic, Godless, unconstitutional, debt-ridden, Big Spending, Federal Government in our history!

Robinson: “As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life,… pro-Constitution….”

Comment: Nope. Can’t be any of these things and be the cheerleader you are for Bush and the Republican Party. Bush has given us a Godless/Unconstitutional war and violated the Constitution in many other ways. He’s done nothing to stop your typical abortion and in fact thinks it’s OK to murder innocent unborn babies who are in the womb because of rape/incest.

Robinson: “Despite the wailing of the liberal trolls and other doom & gloom naysayers, we feel no compelling need to allow them a platform to promote their repugnant and obnoxious propaganda from our forum. Free Republic is not a liberal debating society. We are conservative activists dedicated to defending our rights, defending our constitution, defending our republic and defending our traditional American way of life. Our God-given liberty and freedoms are not negotiable.

May God bless and protect our men and women in uniform fighting for our freedom and may God continue to bless America. Jim Robinson.”

Comment: Hey!, but I’m no “liberal troll” or a “doom & gloom naysayers.” I’m an orthodox, Bible-believing Christian, former “conservative activist” and you gave me the boot! You need to get off the irrelevant liberal-bashing. This is not the real battle. No, the real battle is Godly people (Bible-believing Christians) versus non-Christians; God’s children vs Satan’s kids (see John 8:44ff); City of God vs. City of Man (St. Augustine). And God is not blessing our troops because our troops are voluntary participants in an unGodly, anti-God war. We’re under God’s wrath and judgment because we’ve turned our back on Him as a nation. That’s why our liberties and freedoms are shrinking. Read your Bible. Grow up. Put away childish things. Get wisdom.

When I emailed Jim Robinson and asked what his title was, he wrote back saying he was the “janitor.” Well, it’s good his site has a janitor because there’s a lot of crap on it that needs to be dumped in the garbage can.

I guess I don't understand.

Why in the world were you hanging and posting on a site that obviously has a wide disagreement with the content of the post you noted?

Are you saying you didn't know of Robinson's "always US is right" stance?

Are you saying the site was ok, since I'm not aware of your stating otherwise, until they gave you the boot?

I'm not in particular putting a stick in your eye, but I have seen note after note in various formats criticizing FR and it's moderation policies after someone who would WooHoo the latest JimRob scorching of the earth until they were the victim of the latest scorching.

The forum always has and always will be made up of a group of conservative hotheads and those who are Jim's latest suck ups. It never has and never will be a nice sandbox to play in.

The forums owner is an angry, bitter conservative. He caught a wave with the anti-Clinton sentiment in the mid and late 90's. It regained it's footing in it's support of President Bush after the 9/11 attacks as a haven for Bush Bots to circle the wagons around the President and during the 2004 election. It is now a shell of its former once grand dame of political discussion.

It always has and always will have splinter groups. It always has and always will have fringers from all of the conservative movement elements.

I guess I will respond to you.

You: I guess I don't understand.

My Response: You will understand now.

You: Why in the world were you hanging and posting on a site that obviously has a wide disagreement with the content of the post you noted?

Response: First, this site posted doesn't have a wide disagreement with my personal views. I agree with John Lofton on this issue. Free Republic acts more neo conservative than really conservative. I'm an independent man and gives me the right to post whatever I want from a variety of perspectives. That enriches peoples' minds and their views.

You: Are you saying you didn't know of Robinson's "always US is right" stance?

Response: No, this is the man's views. These words are from another site not of my own. This man's views are mostly accurate.

You: Are you saying the site was ok, since I'm not aware of your stating otherwise, until they gave you the boot?

Response: I'm Timothy and the person who got booted from the site is another person. I was just quoting from the person who got booted from the Free Republic site.

You I'm not in particular putting a stick in your eye, but I have seen note after note in various formats criticizing FR and it's moderation policies after someone who would WooHoo the latest JimRob scorching of the earth until they were the victim of the latest scorching.

Response: That's interesting.

You: The forum always has and always will be made up of a group of conservative hotheads and those who are Jim's latest suck ups. It never has and never will be a nice sandbox to play in.

Response: That's their right of free speech. That doesn't mean we refrain from criticizing that policy. FR are neo cons not real conservatives. I hope you know the difference.

You: The forums owner is an angry, bitter conservative. He caught a wave with the anti-Clinton sentiment in the mid and late 90's. Response: FR are full of neo conservatives. Bill Clinton wasn't a saint in all of his policies. He passed the anti-liberty Crime Bill in the 1990's. He passed NAFTA and supported the murder occuring in Waco. Bush in contrast to Clinton just made more overt mistakes than Clinton ever did.

You: It always has and always will have splinter groups. It always has and always will have fringers from all of the conservative movement elements.

Response: FR is fringe, but they are fake conservatives to me. Real conservatives believe in individual liberty, the opposition to preemptive wars, and the protection of our civil liberties. FR is far from being a real conservative. FR would be more independent and that could gain a better reception among people.
