The 2020 Election (The Results are not clear Yet)

On this day, the election is not over. Many votes have to be counted. A candidate must have 270 electoral votes to win. Yet, Trump made the anti-democratic speech that he won the election already and no more future votes should be counted (a high level of those votes that Trump doesn't want to  be counted are from black people). The truth is that every vote has the right to be counted. This is our election, not Trump's election. There are Senate races too. Loeffler and Warnock will go into a runoff election to see who will win in Georgia. Democrats seek to shift the Senate. Mitch McConnell won when he is the worst Senate majority leader in American history. He has refused to promote progressive legislation, obstructed Obama, and refused to vote on any stimulus relief so far when thousands of Americans have passed away from the virus. Extremists forget that there is nothing wrong with a redistribution of wealth given to help people, especially when that wealth was acquired by the wealthy via the exploitation of the poor and the oppressed. So far, Biden has more electoral votes than Trump. Biden won my state of Virginia proving once again that Virginia is the most progressive state of the South. Trump won Texas. All of the votes in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Texas will be counted in full.

Also, another point is to be made. There is that elephant in the room. There is a constant slander made by Hoteps, far right white conservatives, and deluded, religious extremists that anyone who is a liberal or a progressive are socialists, Marxists, anti-God, or hate America. This old lie was not new. Decades ago, J. Edgar Hoover (who was a FBI director who hypocritically stated that he wanted to promote justice, but he illegally monitored political dissidents in America for decades) and his allies including the John Birch Society slandered many civil rights leaders collectively as communists or influenced by communism. Hoover also personally intervened to prevent federal prosecutions against the Klan members responsible for the terrorist bombing attack against the 16th Street Baptist Church  (that murdered four, precious innocent black girls). That alone proves that Hoover was lower than low in terms of his character as a man. The truth is that the Civil Rights Movement is diverse, and many people in that movement disagreed with Communism like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Jackie Robinson, and other people. Other people in the movement were socialists (like DuBois). This doesn't mean that the aims of the movement are illegitimate because diverse individuals are in it. Fighting for voting rights, human rights, ending Jim Crow apartheid, fighting for civil rights, and believing in justice are righteous parts of the long black freedom struggle. There is nothing immoral or evil about believing in clean water, allowing the super rich to pay their fair share of taxation, promoting equality for all human beings, eliminating racism, stopping police terrorism, using the federal government to establish investments in communities, loving democracy, using public means to abolish poverty, and making sure that health care is for all. I find it interesting that the views of the MAGA extremists are similar to the Hotep crowd. Both harass people who disagree with them, both believe in sexism, both use illogical historical information, both permit no real justice for black people, both obsess with slandering anyone who is liberal or progressive, both believe that forming businesses alone will solve problems collectively, and both either support or downplay the vicious agenda of Donald Trump (some even call Trump anti-establishment, which is wrong as Trump has been funded by wealthy Wall Street interests for decades. He is part of the system just like others. Trump has made racist, sexist remarks about black people, women, protesters, etc.).

Therefore, this election will take time to find the real winner. Regardless, we have to be prepared for the future and never be ashamed of being a liberal  or a progressive. Even JFK said that he was a liberal in a speech to the Liberal Party of New York state. It's on YouTube. I believe in free speech, I believe in equality, I believe health care is a human right, I believe in mutual cooperation, I believe in protecting civil liberties, I believe in black liberation, I believe in government protections of human rights, I believe in civil rights, I believe in social justice, I believe in economic justice, I believe in environmental justice, I believe in the existence of God (but I also believe in the separation of church and state. Even Jesus said Render things to God separately from rendering things to Caesar. I don't believe in using my faith as an excuse to oppress another human being unjustly), and I believe in freedom.

The election race now certainly will take time for the total results to exist. The results now are things are expected. Mostly liberal states are going for Biden, while more conservative states are going for Trump. Ohio has strong support for Biden. Florida is increasingly going for Trump, because many Cuban Americans believe in the myth that Biden is some Marxist, therefore some of them voted against their self-interests for a racist. The states that are too close to call include states like Arizona, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and other locations. Arizona is certainly up for grabs. There are many Senate races going about where the Democrats have a chance to take back the Senate. One Democratic Senate candidate in Colorado won his election. That was the first flip of the Senate seat.

Some good news today is that a Texas judge threw up a lawsuit that wanted almost 127,000 votes to be eliminated from being counted, because these votes were in Harris County, TX (being part of early voting). Judge Andrew Hanen said that the votes in drive thru voting polling centers are valid. There is a long history of voter suppression efforts by the GOP. Back in 2000, many votes were gone from the rolls. Voter ID laws existed. Also, we know that Trump refuses to accept any further voting after the election day is finished. Trump is an authoritarian extremist who has no respect for democracy, no respect for the law, and no respect for the American people. Trump is not talking about jobs, health care, or education now, because his Presidency has been a disaster. Trump supporters have used trucks and other vehicles to harass people in Texas, Richmond, Virginia, New Jersey, and in New York. These reactionaries are desperate people.  Trump's actions show his hatred of the voting process, and he knows that he will lose the election.
