News on September 1, 2023.

The Proud Boys leader Joe Biggs is sentenced to 17 years in prison for his role in the January 6th case. Four of the five Proud Boys were found guilty of seditious conspiracy. The Proud Boys is a racist, sexist, and xenophobic hate group that violently attacked people, burned a flag from a church, and worked in a conspiracy in trying to overthrow the U.S. government by having an insurrection at the United States Capitol. The far-right Proud Boys led the march to the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Biggs was convicted by a Washington, D.C. jury of many charges like a seditious conspiracy for attempting to forcibly prevent the peaceful transfer of power from then-President Donald Trump to Joe Biden after the 2020 election. Zach Rehl was convicted too. Ethan Nordean, Zachary Rehl, and Enrique Tarrio plotted and encouraged violence in the lead-up to the Capitol attack. Dominic Pezzola attacked the police on the front line and pushed into the Capitol according to prosecutors. The January 6th attack was not some quaint occurrences. Buildings were damaged, cops were assaulted, and lives were threatened.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has dismissed GOP calls for a special session to impeach the DA Fani Willis. Many racists and sexists are attacking DA Fani Willis because she is using commonsense legal authority in trying to make Trump and his allies accountable for criminal activities in Georgia. Constantly, MAGA supporters have threatened DA Fani Willis and other legal authorities who are only following the law. There is a lawsuit now to ban the panel trying to impeach DA Fani Willis. The GOP leadership is filled with hypocrisy in claiming to be for freedom but allying with tactics that are the very antithesis of democracy. DA Fani Willis is a black woman with a lot of legal qualifications that make extremists jealous. Fanis Willis has supported programs in Atlanta that has actually reduced violent crime in Atlanta in a historic fashion. The haters' jealousy should inspire us to more vigorously defend our human rights.

Days ago, was the Birthday of the late Brother Fred Hampton. He would be 75 years old if he was alive today. As a natural-born leader, he fought for human rights when he was a child. He was born in Summit Argo, Illinois. His parents moved to Maywood, Illinois when he was 10 years old. His parents traveled from Louisiana to Illinois as part of the Great Migration of African Americans during the 20th century. Fred Hampton was gifted to be very intelligent academically and athletically. That is why he wanted to play center field for the New York Yankees. His political and social consciousness was early during his life. Even at 10, he hosted weekend breakfasts for other children from the neighborhood (cooking the food himself), which was before the Panthers' free breakfast program. During high school, Hampton protested his school's discrimination against black staff and black students.

By 1966, he became more socialist. He worked in the NAACP to help Maywood black community, and he joined the Black Panther Party. He formed the Rainbow Coalition to unite the Black Panthers, Young Patriots, Young Lords, and many Chicago street gangs to fight social change and end infighting. This scared Hoover and the FBI. They used COINTELPRO to try to stop the advancements made by the Black Panthers. Chicago police officers, with the help of an informant (O'Neal), organized the assassinations of Mark Clark and Fred Hampton in a home on December 4, 1969. The assassination was so unjust and evil that the authorities had no choice but to send money to the Hampton and Clark families back then. Fred Hampton was right to say that people have the right to be revolutionaries, and we have to stop fascism in our society. He was one leader of the black freedom struggle who inspired freedom fighters globally.

Rest in Power Brother Fred Hampton.

The New York district court found Rudy Giuliani liable for defaming Georgia election workers. Giuliani admitted that he made false statements about the 2 Georgia election workers. Rudy's lies are not protected by the First Amendment. His views were about harming and slandering two innocent black women (their lives have been changed by racists threatening them and causing them to have massive anxiety) who just did their jobs. Giuliani worked with Donald Trump in a conspiracy with others in trying to steal the 2020 election. Rudy's legacy has been filled with controversies, corruption, reactionary views, and hypocrisy. Ted Goodman, the political advisor to Rudy Giuliani, is a liar for saying that the ruling is a weaponization of politics. This is about holding Rudy accountable for making hurtful, blatantly false statements. Rudy Giuliani minimized the epidemic of police terrorism when he was mayor of New York City. Back in the 1980's, he hypocritically prosecuted criminal Mafia bosses, but he later worked with corrupt Trump acolytes (who acted as Mafia members) in recent years.
