Political and Other News.

There is breaking news of how the Appeals Court mentioned that Donald Trump is not immune from prosecution because he was a former President. The court made the right decision because it is absurd to assume that any President is immune from any crime in the Universe. The rule of law matters. The federal appeals court made the decision on Tuesday. It completely rejected Trump's arguments that he shouldn't have to go on trial on federal election subversion charges. Trump is a racist fascist person who is the leader of the MAGA cult. He is planning to appeal to the Supreme Court. The Appeals Court created a 57-page unanimous opinion from the panel of three D.C. Circuit judges. The decision mentioned that the justice system allowed for a former President to face charges for actions he took while in office and that the public interest in holding a potentially criminal president accountable outweighed any potential chilling effect on the Presidency. No human being on this Earth should be above the law, and the court's decision made the point absolutely clear. The court cited that during the Nixon Presidency, the Supreme Court had limits on Nixon's claim of immunity when he didn't want to release the Watergate tapes. The Appeals Court did the right thing. Now, we shall we what the Supreme Court will do.

There is still extreme rainfall in California and other regions of the West Coast. More than 14 million people are at high risk of excessive rainfall across Southern California. Some parts of the Los Angeles area are forecast to receive close to half a year’s worth of rain by Tuesday. Much of the rain is moving from Los Angeles to the San Diego area. More than 500,000 California power customers have faced outages as an intense atmospheric river lashes the state with heavy rain and strong winds. Many scientists believe that the rainfall being so high is influenced by the climate crisis and El Nino (which is a weather pattern that has been popularized since the 1990’s). The debris from the disaster has been found everywhere from Fryman Road in Studio City, California to other places like the Los Angeles River have heavy flooding. The canyon roads have massive flooding too in the Malibu area. There are new flash flood warnings over the intense rain going through Los Angeles. This warning is for more than 2.5 million people in the Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Rain was falling at a rate of 0.25 inches to 0.50 inches per hour on top of areas that have already received up to 10 inches of rain since Sunday.

There is the first Senate vote on the bipartisan border deal on Wednesday. The deal is that Mike Johnson is a hypocrite to oppose the border deal when that deal is very strict with plans that many progressives oppose. This situation of Trump opposing the deal is about a nihilistic view that the federal government can't do anything right. Mike Johnson knows full well that the border bill has concessions that members of his GOP party support, but the House Republicans in large measure oppose it. Two things are true. Comprehensive immigration policies are indeed necessary, and we need future workers to stabilize the economy of American society. American workers should indeed be respected, and it is also true that xenophobia has no place anywhere in the world. So, we desire solutions not playing politics with the lives of human beings. Many GOP members have admitted that they desire Biden to not have any win or sign any legislation that will benefit his Presidency. This is about a calculated attempt to ruin the functions of democracy.

Some breaking news is that King Charles III has cancer and will step back from public duties according to Buckingham Palace. Recently, he had a corrective procedure for an enlarged prostate last month. This cancer that he has is not prostate cancer. He is positive about future treatment and desires to have full public duty as soon as possible. Charles was a monarch after the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in September of 2022. Prince William will do public duties later this week after supporting his wife in her own recovery from abdominal surgery. William regularly contacts his father, Charles. We are a compassionate people, and we wish Charles to have a full recovery.

Thousands of people in Germany are protesting against fascism and against the Alternative for Germany (Afd) party. In Berlin, as many as 300,000 people demonstrated in front of the federal parliament called the Bundestag. There were 30,000 people in Augsburg, Freiburg, and Dresden. There were thousands of protesters in Bremen, Krefeld, and other cities. Drik Rohrborn is the chairman of the Executive Board of the Silicon Saxony Industry Association. He wants more jobs and social cuts in the name of "democracy." By January 18, 2024, the Bundestag passed the Repatriation Improve Act which make it possible to retrieve people who have been living in Germany for years out of their beds at night without warning, detain them, and forcibly deport them.
