The FTC has sued monopolies, banned noncompete, and challenged pharma patents that keep Rx costs high. It is making it easier to cancel subscriptions. It has clamped down to fake reviews that mislead shoppers. This is why former Trump Secretary Steve Mnuchin wants to eliminate the FTC, because it is doing its job to stop monopolies from dominating our economic system. According to Oxfam, the world's richest one percent has more wealth than the bottom 95 percent. The Consumer Financial Bureau is used to protect us from sketchy corporations. Trump is so extreme that he suggests that Canada become America's 51st state if Canada doesn't adopt Trump's tariff policy. Corporate lobbyists dominate the cabinet's proposed picks among the authoritarian Trump team. That is very obvious.
The President of South Korea Yoon Suk Yeoi has lifted his martial law order. People in South Korea condemned this action from lawmakers from across the political spectrum. There are many demonstrations taking place in South Korea. Yoon has struggled to push his political agenda in a parliament that is controlled by the opposition Democratic Party. Voters saw little movement on issues like the economy, real estate prices, low birth rates, and equality. The Democratic Party wanted to impeach top prosecutors, and Yoon issued a martial law decree.
There is an issue of financial capital having more power to dominate healthcare. A large percentage of healthcare services are influenced and controlled by private equity firms and financial institutions. This is about the financialization of the healthcare sector and the commodification of public health. We know about Blackston, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Co. (KKR), The Carlyle Group, and Apollo Global Management dealing with acquiring hospitals, emergency care, nursing homes, and behavioral health. Billionaires have huge political ties to corporate health services like Henry Kravis, Stephen Schwarzman, George Roberts, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, David Rubenstein, etc. The monopolization of health care services by private equity firms has increased costs and increased mortality rates in some cases. Healthcare is a human right that must be available to all people based on need.
The MAGA filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza has apologized for making false claims made in his 2022 election conspiracy film 2,000 Mules. He was sued by an Atlanta man wrongly accused of voter fraud. I heard of Dinesh for years with his extremist views. Now, the New Yorker reported that a whistleblower mentioned that Pete Hegseth was forced out of previous leadership positions because of financial mismanagement, sexist behavior, and being repeatedly intoxicated on the job.
Anyone comparing Trump's pardons to President Biden's pardon of his son as being equivalent is wrong for many reasons. One reason is that Trump pardoned people with character a lot worse than Hunter Biden. Hunter Biden admitted that he isn't perfect and committed actions that were morally wrong. Also, Hunter Biden was willing to go to trial to experience a guilty or non-guilty verdict. Also, Hunter Biden is President Biden's son, so, understandably, a father would pardon his son. Trump, on the other hand, is a convicted felon of dozens of felonies. Hunter Biden is not a rapist of a woman, he didn't conspire to steal an election, and he didn't say that the 2020 election was stolen. Trump has degenerates, liars, and authoritarians promoted in his cabinet, and many people in the corporate media are trying to sugarcoat that reality. Therefore, Biden's Presidential legacy is a whole lot better than the Trump agenda on any day.
