_____________

PRO-ABORTION ARGUMENT:
"Anti-abortionists talk about the sanctity of human life, yet they favor capital punishment."

PRO-LIFE ANSWERS:

1. Not all prolifers favor capital punishment.

2. Capital punishment is rooted in a respect for innocent human life.

3. There is a vast difference between punishing a convicted murderer and an innocent child.

** Those who support it are not disqualified from legitimately claiming to be pro-life. It is not inconsistent to contend that convicted murderers should be executed but innocent babies should not be. The interesting thing is, the pro-choice crowd thinks opposing abortion while supporting the death penalty is inconsistent, but supporting abortion for the innocent while opposing the death penalty for the guilty is “enlightened.”

PRO-ABORTION ARGUMENT:
"The anti-abortionists are a bunch of men telling women what to do."

PRO-LIFE ANSWERS:

1. More women than men oppose abortion.

2. The great majority of prolife workers are women.

3. If men are disqualified from the abortion issue, they should be disqualified on both sides.

4. Men are entitled to take a position on abortion.

5. Of women who have had abortions, far more are prolife activists than prochoice activists.

**It is common for men to pressure women into abortion. The vast majority of doctors who perform abortions are men, as are most prochoice congressmen. Why do pro-choicers embrace the judgement of the all-male Supreme Court that legalized abortion in 1973? And why do prochoice groups donate sizable campaign funds to male legislators who endorse abortion? If men should be eliminated from the abortion debate, shouldn't they be eliminated from both sides?

Abortion is a human issue, not a gender issue. Facts, logic, reason, and compassion have no anatomy. Whether they are esproused by men or women is no more relevant than whether they are espoused by black or white. The point in whether the arguments are accurate, not the gender of those advancing them. To believe otherwise is simply sexism.

PRO-ABORTION ARGUMENT:
"Prolifers don't care about women, and they don't care about babies once they're born."

PRO-LIFE ANSWERS:

1. Prolifers are actively involved in caring for women in crisis pregnancies and difficult child-raising situations.

2. Prolifers are actively involved in caring for "unwanted" children and the other "disposable people" in society.

3. It is "abortion providers" who do not provide support for women choosing anything but abortion.

** I have volunteered for a crisis pregnancy center in my area. We have never turned down a woman for help with her pregnancy. We have provided her child with free prenatal care, free clothing for herself and baby, furnishings, and other help to needy women such as child care. Their is no age limit. If she needs help with herself and children, we are there to help!

When you hear abortion providers talk about the help they offer women, ask them: "If a fifteen-year-old girl comes into your clinic with no money, no one to help her, no home to go to, and no desire to have an abortion, what services does your facility provide to help her?" The answer is always the same--none. Abortion advocates don't offer help. They offer only abortion, and then only to those who can pay their price. So maybe they should ask the question again on who really helps women?!

And what about after the abortion, as so many women go thru Post abortion syndrome. Do they offer help on that as well?
