The African Union bows to pressure to back abortions in order to reduce maternal deaths. The AU made its annual summit last week with governments agreeing to make maternal and child mortality a continent-wide priority. The summit ended with Member States doing something. They extended the controversial, non-binding Maputo Plan of Action (PoA) for an additioanl fiver years. It will expand the new initative called the Campaign on Accelerated Reduction on Maternal Mortality in Africa (CARMMA). Pressure was place on the AU from UN agencies and foreign non-governmental organizaiton (NGO). UNFPA (or the United Nations Population Fund) executive director Thoraya Obaid called on delegates to focus on non-controverisal interventions to reduce maternal deaths (like skilled birth attendants and emergency obstetric care). The next day in a speech at Makerere University in Kampala Obaid foucsed instead on "unsafe abortion," "reproductive rights," "reproductive health services" and "sexuality education." The pro-abortion NGO coalition told the AU assembly they were ashamed of Africa's high maternal and child mortality. The NGOs alled on governments for guaranteed acccess to family planning services, reproductive health commodity security, and to address unfsafe abortion. The NGO statement didn't mention skilled birth attendants or emergency obstetric care, what are traditionally understood as the cures for high maternal mortality. Abortion advocates have heralded the Maputo PoA as a victory for their cause since the document calls for "policie and legal frameworks to reduce incidence of unsafe abortion" and to "prepare and implement national plans of action to reduce incidence of unwarranted pregnancies and unsafe abortion." While the focus on maternal health is generally viewed as a positive development, critics warn that the warm feelings about reducing maternal mortality are being used also to promote a right to aboriton. Critics point to the sneaky way the Maputo document came into being. Prior to the 2006 passage of the PoA, several AU delegations objected to the abortion provisions and only agreed to the document on the understanding that the abortion clauses would be removed. The charged were never made and several African nations charged the AU secreteriat with "manipulation." Originally intended to be a short term 3 year plan, the AU decision will extend the Maputo PoA through 2015. This is the coincide with the planned conclusion of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). There is a plan of extending the PoA. The AU member states want to expand CARMMA. This is an initiative to promote "intensified action" on MDG-5 maternal health. Since the initial launch in May 2009, CARMMA has since been launched in 20 coutnries. Last week, AU members committed to ensured that CARMMA would be launched in all 53 African countries before the next AU summit. In additiona to renewing the Maputo PoA and expanding CARMMA, AU member states also committed to increasing health funding 15% of national budgets, making health services free for women and children and called on donor nations to fuflfill their pledges. Such funding became a major part of the conference negotiations. While participants praised the recent $7.3 billion pledged by the G-8 for maternal health, delegates said much more was needed. Some proposed additional money could be siphoned off from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria though this was not acted upon.
Haiti doesn't need the likes of the Monsanto corporation to influence Haiti. Monsanto promoted seeds that deal with GM. Many Haitan farmers don't agree with Monsanto's movement. Many of them are apart of the MouvementNational des Paysans de Congrès de Papaye (MPNKP) and Peasant Movement of Papay (MPP). Monsanto is the largest global seed company in world. They want to send "free" seeds to Haiti. Monsanto claims to want to send hybrid seeds to Haiti. They want to impact the farmers in the world. Haitan people are protsesting this plan since its seeds from Monsanto are dangerous. Monsant claims that they have the best interest of Haitian farmers. In Haiti, the earth can provide seeds freely to people. Monsant o is trying to promote ending competition and controlling the seed industry in the world. There have been debt servitude in India too. Monsanto regularly promotes terminator technology. This technology deals with genetic use restriction technologies of GURT. A good example of these is seeds that are genetically modified to NOT germinate. What nature gives for free, the seed corporations want to take away and own for their pursuit of profit. This is an example of fascism. There are more debt and death that can follow GM foods that Haitan farmers reject. The farmers in Haiti want to save and share their own seeds. There shouldn't be a cartel-capitalist pluner of Haiti. Farmer are resisting corporate power. Direct action can make changes in the world.
It seems like Nick Jonas and Jordin Sparks will chair a Reagan youth group. They weren't alive when he was President (I was alive when he was the President in the USA). Jordin Sparks is 21 years old and won the American Idol show. Nick Jonas and Jordin Sparks are big Ronald Reagan fans. Both Sparks and Jonas are leading a committee of 35 prominent young people claiming that they were touched by Reagan. Ronald Reagan was the nation's 40the President who left the White House in 1989. The group was created to commemorate Reagan's 100th birthday on February 6. The National Youth Leadership Committee of the Ronald Reagan Centennial Celebration includes athletes, entertainers and student leaders who are under age 25. They have been inspired in a personal way by Reagan's vision of freedom and his leadership.
"My father and my family were supporters of Reagan," Jonas said. "I'm proud to be a part of this. It's amazing." Sparks says she also admires the president dubbed the Great Communicator. "It has been really cool to tell my friends I'm a part of this. A good many of my friends have positive things to say about him," Sparks said. Even people young than me have been brainwashed by the piece of work Ronald Reagan. The committee members make up of 18 Olympic medals, 2 platinum records, and a Miss USA crown. There are sailors abroad the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, professional football players, and a student from Illinois' Eureka College. This was where Reagan was a student in 1932. Reagan died on June 5, 2004 after experiencing Alzheimer's disease for 10 years. Now, Reagan caused the poverty rate to grow due to his austerity/Austrian economic measures. He was in the middle of the Iran Contra scandal. He passed anti-gun, anti-life legislation as Governor of California in 1967. He was apart of the Bohemian Grove (with orgies, occult rituals, and other strange activities). So, Ronald Reagan was a deception that was utilized by the global elite in order to manipulate the conservative movement. I greatly respect Jordin Sparks' pro-life views (as I am Pro-Life myself), but Reagan was something else.
It is true that anyone who passively accepts evil are just as much involved that those who prepretrate it according to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now, in life, views evolve and change. Yet, many core convictions stay the same. The problems of the world deal with international issues too not just national concerns. When you evaluate the world, there is a connection between materialism, civil rights, and the terror done by the ruling class in the world. If a true embrace of real values comes about in the world, so constructive insight can flourish. Militarism is certainly a threat since a preoccupation with military arms instead of domestic uplift is a perilous course into a futile existence. Materialism isn't just about named brand clothing or mocking the poor. It's historical. back centuries, European imperialism had materialism to conquer America via exterminating most of the Native American people. Similar actions occured in Africa, Asia, and Australia. Today, this bigotry is shown toward not only Native Americans or African Americans. It's also shown toward many Hispanic Americans via the reactionaries dehumanizing them by calling them "others" or "aliens." Today, there are wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that deals with conquering resources as well. Certainly, society does need more economic restruction, because there is record foreclosures, yet Wall Street are recieving record high bonsues. Suddenly, many of our leaders and ancestors were right that using resources to create peaceful power is more vital to our human interests than militarism and materialism.

This is rubbish. Read the scientific truth. This kind of information hurts inocent people. The U.S. has seen a 70% decrease in tooth decay since 1955 and the inception of 1ppm flurodation with NO ASSOCIATED Health consequence. There have been numerous accusations of associated problems with fluoride and NONE have been proven to be true. Please be careful and read the scientific tested research. Fluoride at 1 ppm has never been shown to cause any health problem except a reduction in dental caries.
