Friday Information in early September of 2018.

Behind the Kavanaugh situation is the agenda of corporate elites trying to strip away the rights that we fought for throughout American history. If this man is sent to the Supreme Court, affirmative actions, the rights of women, many labor rights, and other human rights could be gone in our lifetimes. It's that serious. It's the first time in my life where I see the future generation could live in a world with less human rights than the generation that we all live in currently. Protesters have been arrested for standing up against the pro-corporate views of Kavanaugh. He was promoted by the Federalist Society, which is a far right group that makes no bones about its reactionary agenda. Trump and Kavanaugh are allies. So, there can be no mistake about both men's ties. In that hearing, Kavanaugh may claim that he is reasonable and will follow precedent, but a person's deeds are much more powerful than a person's words. Trump and his Republicans are overtly determined to demonize NFL protests, to condemn Trump critics, and to believe in the myth that we have a total meritocracy in American society. The Supreme Court has made disgraceful decisions over the years. Shelby County v. Holder gutted the Voting Rights Act. Citizens United overturned limits on corporate campaign contributions, and Walmart v. Dukes and Epic Systems has barred consumers and workers from filing class action suits if they are injured or fleeced by corporations, forcing them into rigged arbitration procedures. The Court in the majority upheld the xenophobic Trump travel ban. This is why voting and social activism have great importance in the framework of our country. The US Chamber of Commerce has made it their business to advance corporate interests at the expense of the rights of the people. That is why we should always oppose repression and injustice.

Days ago was the Birthday of a living legend. She sacrificed greatly in her life for our freedom. Her name is Sister Claudette Clovin and she is now 79 years old. She was one person who protested Jim Crow apartheid in Montgomery Alabama (where she was born). On March 2, 1955, Clovin was arrested for refusing to give up her seat on a bus in segregated Montgomery, Alabama, nine months prior to Rosa Parks' famous arrest for the same offense. Also, she was one of many plaintiffs that fought to end segregation in Alabama buses. The Supreme Court in December of 1956 banned segregation among Alabama buses. She was part of the NAACP Youth Council back during the 1950's too. She came into New York City where she struggled to find work at first. She has 2 children (one child has been deceased in 1993). She should be recognized as one person who first led the spark of the Montgomery Bus Boycott movement. That movement led into further victories found in the Civil Rights Movement completely. She currently lives in the Bronx, NYC. I wish Sister Claudette Clovin more blessings.

When you think about a very talented woman and an eclectic spirit, you think about this woman. She is Sister Macy Gray and her Birthday came about yesterday. She was born in Canton, Ohio. She has won one Grammy and has performed to describe the issues of love, human interactions, resiliency, and other important concepts of everyday living. She played the piano when she was young and she went into college. She is now 51 years old. Amazing as a songwriter and singer, she gained more opportunities as time proceeded forward. Her debut album of On How Life was a worldwide success. Her song I Try was one of her greatest songs. She made more albums like The Id. People respect Macy Gray because she has expressed herself on her own terms. She cherishes her own individuality and inspired new artists to do the same without apology. She has many children and is a total legend in the music industry.
I wish Sister Macy Gray more blessings.

Sister Anika Noni Rose had her Birthday yesterday and she is 46 years old. Always on the move, she has acted in a diversity of TV shows and movies. Bloomfield, Connecticut is the place of her birth. Acting and theater are some of her many passions. That is why she has won Tony Awards and other accolades a product of expressing her excellent roles throughout her career. She graduated with a B.A. from theater from Florida A&M University. Broadway is a place where she was involved in numerous plays. She is famous for having a role in the movie Dreamgirls too. From science fiction to dramas, no genre is immune from her grasp. She gives a light and an inspiration to many artists who seek opportunities. She is part of the hopes and dreams of so many who desire to show their talents in a manifold of ways. She is very wise too and is conscious of the many issues of the day. Through her determined spirit, future generations will greatly be blessed in acting and other endeavors. I wish Sister Anika Noni Rose more blessings.

It is also important to share the following important news. Sister Ayanna Pressley won the Democratic primary in Massachusetts. When her victory was found, she celebrated with crying. She is 44 years old. She worked in a strong campaign and she spoke with people. She was the first black woman in the Boston City Council. She is a progressive human being that signals a blue wave. The Democratic voters are elected people representative of their base which includes black people, women, other people of color, and other human beings. She defeated the incumbent Michael Capuano. Pressley lives in Dorchester with her husband, Conan Harris, and her stepdaughter. Progressive people are certainly letting their voices to be heard.
Congratulations to Sister Ayanna Pressley.
