The Historic 2018 Midterm Election Results.

Today has been a mixed day filled with good news and some sad news. The good news is that we have record turnout for the midterm elections. Many new voters came out to vote. We don't have one party controlling the entire Congress. The Democrats have gained seats and will control the House. The bad news is that the Republicans will control the Senate for now. Many people sacrificed their time and effort to make their voices heard. Nothing will be the same again. People want legislation and to maintain a check on Trump. There should be investigations and policies executed by Congress to help with health care, infrastructure, living wages, housing, education, and other important matters in the United States of America. Some history has been made and there is an influx of new Democratic Governors. Heroes like Stacey Abrams and Andrew Gillum have shown the the world that progressive principles must be promoted. Bigots and extremists can't stop truth. This time represents how important voting is. Voting doesn't just deal with national elections. It deals with judges, school board members, city council people, and other officials. One of the great news is that Amendment Four passed in Florida that allowed felons to have voting rights after they paid their debts to society. This is a further benefit for humanity. Also, we shouldn't lose faith. I lived through Reagan, Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr., Obama, and Trump. We will survive and grow in the future. Goodness is better than evil and we will always believe in the general welfare.

Now, we see the results of many races. There are good news and bad news. The good news is that Trump doesn't have a subservient House or Senate anymore. For the first time in history, over 100 women are in Congress. That is an outstanding achievement. Also, many Democrats gained governorships and won the majority of the House. We see many candidates making history. The bad news is that Gillum lost. That shows to me that many people in Florida are closet racists since no rational thinking person can vote for DeSantis when he made racist statements and has no coherent policy for people in Florida. O'Rourke lost regretfully, but he has a bright future ahead of him. Stacey Abrams has heroically stated to continued to fight onward. We saw a large majority of Americans rejecting the agenda of Trump and a significant minority (much larger than the polls state) that are not only lovers of Trump but outright bigots. Trump used xenophobic rhetoric and his supporters disgracefully ally with him. I'm glad that Corey Stewart lost. Beto O'Rourke did better than expected. Gillum had a great campaign. In Florida, many of the older voters in the west coast of the coast in the panhandle voted against their interests for a white racist for Governor.

So, the midterm elections include a mixed result. Also, Hoteps like Trariq Nasheed are hypocrites. They lecture people on black interests, but they embrace no real solutions except a token black capitalism. People need jobs, health care, housing, and other real infrastructure. You will notice that people like Nasheed doesn't talk about these things seriously, but mocks black people who disagrees with him. Tariq recently lied and said that Gillum and Abrams lost since they didn't overtly talk about black issues when both candidates talked about criminal justice reform, living wages, health care, education, being against police brutality, etc. Abrams has been an activist for over 20 years. 20 years ago was when Tariq was promoting pimping against women and Tariq hasn't repudiated pimping to this very day. He's a coward for slandering Abrams when Abrams has been on the front-lines for black people for decades. We still have a long way to go, but the House will check that authoritarian's power. No man is above the law and no man is above checks and balances. That is the lesson from the midterm elections. 113 million people came to vote which was a historic high in 2018.

It is clear what we stand for. We stand for religious freedom and the separation of church and state. We stand for health being a human birthright and no discrimination should exist against those with pre-existing conditions. We stand up for honoring immigrants who contributed a lot for America. We believe in ending police brutality and always respecting the great legacy of black Americans. We believe in making Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid permanent parts of our society. Therefore, we should never let anyone tell us that we haven't expressed what we stand for. We stand for quality education, adequate housing, and a strong, progressive society. Days ago was the Birthday of Sister Frederica Wilson. She is now 76 years old and she was born in Miami, Florida. For years, she has been in the U.S. House of Representatives. Her maternal grandparents were from the Bahamas. She had her bachelor's degree from Fisk University in 1963 and earned her master's degree from The University of Miami in 1972. She was a principal for a school and mentored young people for years and decades. She has fought against hazing and promotes many progressive causes. As a lover of hats, she own many hats. She is outspoken to oppose Stand Your Ground laws and expressed sympathy for the passing away of Trayvon Martin. She has been involved in many other endeavors too. Her cause is about freedom and justice. I wish Sister Frederica Wilson more blessings.

After living on this Earth for almost 35 years, one secret out of life that I have learned is that real power isn't about material items or paper money per se. Real power is about the ownership of resources that develop over time. Real power deals with land as Brother Malcolm X has mentioned. That is why it is important to support our Brothers and our Sisters who own land and are helping their own communities. Learning and applying what we know to help ourselves and our communities relate to power too. Healthy foods, farming, building, and institutions are entities that must be cultivated. That is why investments in trade schools are key. Trade schools not only give men and women great skills, but they teach people how to be sufficient in their own occupations long term. Both learning about technology and other intellectual pursuits is a wise course to take. Action is ultimately caused by using critical thinking skills and building. The beauty of life is that nothing is set in stone. We can make change happen in a positive direction.
