Naivete is Over.

Our civil liberties and rights are under threat by fascism. Right now, Internet censorship is very huge. We have far right Republicans allying with terrorist groups like the Three Percenters. You have Haitian migrants being forcibly deported to Haiti, there are paramilitaries harassing peaceful protesters, and we have a pandemic murdering thousands of Americans in the past nearly 2 years. Many of the terrorists who stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021 are only getting misdemeanor level sentences by a couple of months in prison, but many nonviolent drug offenders have years in prison in many cases. Not to mention that many innocent black people have been in prison for decades to only be released recently as shown by the recent news. Republicans have promoted voter suppression laws, gerrymandering techniques, and stripping electoral authorities of powers in trying to make another Republican President in 2025. This far right using violence against people is not new, but it continues in 2021. In 2021 alone, many GOP far right people have threatened progressive politicians (including Republican supporters of Biden's infrastructure law), assaulted teachers plus others (who are masked), and glorified violence against those who disagree with them. Now, Ted Cruz is praising the new Texas secessionist movement. The Texas secessionist movement in 2021 is treason. That's treason. Many crooked police ally with the Proud Boys and advance the prison industrial complex along with police terror in communities worldwide.

There is the new omicron variant. People don't know all of its power and how it can harm people fully. The Biden administration is trying to respond to not advance fear of this type of virus. It was first found in South Africa and Europe. Later, it has spread globally from Canada to China. Biden and the CDC has recommended that all adults should get a booster shot if they are vaccinated. Some want free COVID tests in every household. The unknown is a serious problem that has existed. The challenges of legislation not being made immediately, inflation, the issue of services being delayed in being delivered in America, etc. are all part of our new era of time. There is no solution without a multifaceted approach. Masks, rapid testing, investments in vaccination, and help sent overseas will make a difference. The issue is that some people care more for disinformation than the safety found in human lives. Public health measures are essential in getting societies back on track. Public health, social, and medical interventions have saved lives then and now. We can't minimize what is going on when the Delta variant is killing 1,000 Americans every day and thousands more globally.

There are secret prisons that try to keep migrants of our Europe. This is not only xenophobic. It's cruel. The Libyan pseudo-Coast Guard is funded by the EU (according to some) to capture migrants in the sea, and some even shot at these boats. Of course, the EU denies funding that Libyan "Coast Guard."  The prisons have torture and other forms of abuse. One prison is found in Tripoli. This detention site is found in Libya without accountability and a sense of change. E.U. policies are explicit in their anti-migrant mentality. One reporter of the New Yorker was beaten for reporting on this story. So, it's important to realize that we have the largest migrant migrations since WWII, and these human migrants are deserving of human rights and dignity. The moderates are just as bad as the far right as the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has said. The moderates are heavily funded by Big Oil, Wall Street corporate interests, and others involved in the status quo. Manchin and Sinema refuse to oppose the racist Senate filibuster. They refuse to stand up for expanded Medicare, they refuse to call for D.C. Statehood, refuse to call for a $15 minimum wage, and refuse to advance real gun control. A gun is a tool, not a god. It is these same red baiting moderates that forget that W.E.B. DuBois, Dr. King, and other people critiqued capitalism overtly. Therefore, we have to be clear to defend social justice, racial justice, environmental justice, and economic justice.

It is important to fight for our voting rights. Right now, Georgia, Texas, and other states have GOP extremists trying to use policies of gerrymandering to redraw maps in order to disenfranchise black people and other people of color. Our democracy must be representative of all America, not just a certain group of Americans. That is why the people must be engaged on these issues. The reason is that voting outcomes relate to schooling policies, voting rights, health care, and how laws exist in cities, towns, states, and throughout the country. Voters have the right to be educated on these issues. Voter suppression laws are evil and unjust. The Build Back Better bill should be passed without token compromise as advocated by moderates. It is certainly our responsibility to advocate for our human rights that our ancestors died for. We have a vicious neo-fascist movement in some of the Republican Party. There is no other way to put it. When you have Trump allies working in places in America promoting the lie that the 2020 election was stolen, when you have states passing voter suppression laws, and when you have massive audits, then we have a problem. In the end, we will win, but we have to continuously defend our democracy.

Recently, great historic news existed. The nation of Barbados became a new Republic on November 30, 2021. It has been a Commonwealth of the UK for centuries. Now, that is over. The first Prime Minister of the new nation is Prime Minister Mia Mottley. During the ceremony of celebrating Barbados, Prime Minister Mia Mottley honored the global entertainer and businesswoman Rihanna as Rihanna was born and raised in Barbados. Mottley announced to the public that Rihanna is the new national hero of Barbados. Robyn Rihanna Fenty is the ambassador to Barbados. This national independence is a new development in the history of the Americas. Rihanna gave a speech that celebrated this reality, and she said, "I have traveled the world and received several awards and recognitions but nothing compares to being recognized in the soil that you grew up in." For years, Rihanna has promoted education, investment, and tourism for Barbados. The national independence celebration included fireworks, TV coverage, music, poetry, dance, and music being expressed. It is a certainly a historic time to be alive to witness Barbados to experience their own independence triumphally indeed.
