JagDRS: The simple answer is - the attempt by congress to create new forms of citizenry over whom they then assume authority, is not a simple answer The problems and corruptions inherent with the 14th amendment are numerous, but may become clear when one is also familiar with other pertinent laws, starting with the Constitution of 1787, Bill of Rights, the original 13th amendment (1812), the circumstances that caused the original 13th to fall into a crack and become forgotten by the time a subsequent substitute version was snuck into law in the haze and wake of the War of North V South; that subsequent subsitute is still treated as legitimate law to this day. At the bottom of this post there is a link to a lengthy essay on the 14th amendment. Reading this kind of information may help you better understand the problems with things like the 14th. The pertinent period of time in question is generally between the early 1800s and the early 1900s.To try and simplify, think Star Trek and the Capt Kirk voice-over describing "going where no man has ever gone before.......". The 14th amendment is now just one among numerous acts history has now recorded as perpetrated by the U.S. government that can be considered as having gone "way out there" where no law ever tried to go before...... so far out there that, within the context of the original constitution, it's reasonable to say these kinds of acts, like the 14th, are clear evidence of government acting in ways for which the Constitution never gave them the power to attempt n the first place..... ecessive ambition, one might way. Here's the rub. The Constitution set in stone limitations on the collective government. The collective government subsequently violates their limited authority...... for instance, the 14th. Where are the enforcers of the supreme law of the land endeavoring to correct these crimes and injustices? For many long years running now, so far the answer seems to be a resounding "apparently no where to be found".

Likewise, where is the outrage of the people? Apparently, the people over the years have become so dumbed-down that they collectively are generally unaware that there are many such good reasons for them to be genuinely outraged over. Don't get me wrong - I too am a part of these collective unknowing folks. On the one hand, it's easy to blame people who get taken advantage of when they don't know the facts, but on the other hand, people have become pretty good at avoiding knowledge of facts important to them. There are now a whole host of similar perverse acts of governmnet, Federal Reserve Act 1913, Progressive Income Tax Act 1913, pretty much every literal act perpetrated by FDR during his 8-plus year reign are other more recent examples. Notice the trend.... once those cotrolling government established the precedent - that there is nobody standing guard over the constitution, the situation - more government mischief, became a "field day" as they say, a field day that's now been going on unabated for over a century...... similar corruption and mayhem is now occuring rampantly and is by and large viewed by the people as normal. Moral to the story? The beat goes on. The Constitution continues to increasingly suffer assault, meanwhile the people increasingly are in evidence being about not having a clue to do a damn thing about it. Capiche?
