McClellan and O’Reilly: And the Lies Just Keep On Coming

It’s disgusting. Scott McClellan and Bill O’Reilly, two professional liars, going round and round about a war crime. “If the director of the CIA believes it, British intelligence believes it, John Kerry believes it, Hillary Clinton believes it, and President Clinton believes it,” said O’Reilly on his Propaganda Factor, “If they all believe Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction, sir: don’t you have a nerve accusing me of not being vigilant enough?”

Can you believe this? Of course you can. Because the purpose of the corporate media is to sell the lies and fabrications of the elite, never mind their minions, to the American people, who are easy enough to trick right out of the chute.

C’mon, Bill. Are you and idiot? No, he is not. He is simply doing his job, selling us garbage, proffering lies day in and day out. Clinton, Kerry, these are professional snake oil sales personnel, minions of the man behind the curtain. It does not matter if they believed Saddam had weapons of mass destruction or not. They tell the public what they are instructed to tell them. Bill O would have us believe they actually speak what is on their minds instead of consulting the neocon-neolib generated script.

“If two presidents of the United States (sitting), the former CIA guy who works for both presidents, Tony Blair, and The New York Times all tell me and you [Saddam has] got [WMDs], we can’t say ‘no, he doesn’t!’

In other words, it is unacceptable to tell the truth. In late 2002, with nothing more than the Google search engine, it was easy to find information, published by the corporate media, that countered the lie that the neocons pushed about Saddam and his illusory weapons of mass destruction. Months before the invasion, in late 2002, Hans Blix, former chief U.N. arms inspector, and Mohamed ElBaradei, head of the U.N.’s nuclear watchdog agency, reported that Iraq’s nuclear weapons program was dormant and U.S. weapons teams found no evidence of Iraqi chemical or biological weapons, as these were destroyed years before by U.N. inspectors and Iraqi officials in the years after the 1991 Gulf War.

And yet Bill acts like a blithering idiot, passing off yet more lies when he says the CIA agreed with the neocons. In fact, in September, 2002, CIA director George Tenet briefed Bush in t he Oval Office, told him Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction. But here’s Bill, years later, passing off the same bilge.

Both O’Reilly and McClellan passed off these lies at the time and for this they are complicit in war crimes. In a non-neocon world, in sane and just world, both would be arrested and tried, as Hans Fritzsche was tried in place of Joseph Goebbels at Nuremberg.

But that’s not going to happen anytime soon. Because the American people are so easily fooled and not moved to anger. Not like they once were, when snake oil salesman were tarred and feathered and horse thieves and crooks were delivered to the gallows, or short of that the nearest oak tree.
